0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello. Over the week ahead, the jet stream will be
0:00:05 > 0:00:07in a different position.
0:00:07 > 0:00:09Still a long way South, so it's still not that warm,
0:00:09 > 0:00:11but it's going to be a stronger westerly jet.
0:00:11 > 0:00:13So a lot of our weather will be
0:00:13 > 0:00:15coming in from the Atlantic.
0:00:15 > 0:00:16And the jet stream tends to pick up
0:00:16 > 0:00:18and develop areas of low pressure
0:00:18 > 0:00:20and that's what we're seeing at the moment,
0:00:20 > 0:00:22this low-pressure and weather fronts
0:00:22 > 0:00:25spilling rain northwards and eastwards right now.
0:00:25 > 0:00:26So it will be a warmer start
0:00:26 > 0:00:27across England and Wales
0:00:27 > 0:00:29and Northern Ireland on Monday,
0:00:29 > 0:00:31but cloud and outbreaks of rain.
0:00:31 > 0:00:32The brighter colours show
0:00:32 > 0:00:34heavy rain coming into Wales,
0:00:34 > 0:00:35the South-West in the morning,
0:00:35 > 0:00:37pushing into the Midlands towards the South-East,
0:00:37 > 0:00:39then more southern parts of Northern Ireland.
0:00:39 > 0:00:41Blustery winds in Northern Ireland
0:00:41 > 0:00:42and northern England.
0:00:42 > 0:00:44The far north of England won't see much rain
0:00:44 > 0:00:46and Scotland may stay dry with some sunshine.
0:00:46 > 0:00:48North-west Scotland the place to be.
0:00:48 > 0:00:50Maybe some late sunshine in the South-West,
0:00:50 > 0:00:52some sharp showers.
0:00:52 > 0:00:54A humid feel across southern parts of the UK.
0:00:54 > 0:00:57But the rain continues into the night,
0:00:57 > 0:00:58the rain band getting stuck
0:00:58 > 0:01:00across northern England,
0:01:00 > 0:01:01petering out to some extent
0:01:01 > 0:01:03but still some showers wandering across
0:01:03 > 0:01:05southern parts of England and Wales
0:01:05 > 0:01:06where it will be particularly warm
0:01:06 > 0:01:08into Tuesday morning.
0:01:08 > 0:01:09Chilliest of all across Scotland
0:01:09 > 0:01:11where we've got clearer skies.
0:01:11 > 0:01:12Here we're more dominated
0:01:12 > 0:01:14by this area of high pressure.
0:01:14 > 0:01:16It's quite a cold high, moving down from the North
0:01:16 > 0:01:18and it's starting to squeeze our rain away,
0:01:18 > 0:01:20those weather fronts away.
0:01:20 > 0:01:22And that area of low pressure too.
0:01:22 > 0:01:23But it's a slow process.
0:01:23 > 0:01:24For much of the day,
0:01:24 > 0:01:26southern England, maybe South Wales
0:01:26 > 0:01:28will be dull and damp.
0:01:28 > 0:01:29If you head across North Wales,
0:01:29 > 0:01:32the Midlands, northwards, it'll be brighter.
0:01:32 > 0:01:34We'll see some sunshine at times
0:01:34 > 0:01:36but probably quite a cool feel,
0:01:36 > 0:01:37with that area of high pressure.
0:01:37 > 0:01:40To the south we've still got the rather muggy air
0:01:40 > 0:01:42and 19 or 20 is still quite likely.
0:01:42 > 0:01:45But that weather front and the cloud with it
0:01:45 > 0:01:46doesn't clear away from
0:01:46 > 0:01:49the far South and South-West of England.
0:01:49 > 0:01:51And these Atlantic systems are trying to push in,
0:01:51 > 0:01:53pushing that area of high pressure
0:01:53 > 0:01:56away into Scandinavia. What does that mean?
0:01:56 > 0:01:58Most places will be dry on Wednesday,
0:01:58 > 0:01:59some sunshine around.
0:01:59 > 0:02:01Still cloudy in the far south of England,
0:02:01 > 0:02:04the far South-West some drizzly rain,
0:02:04 > 0:02:05and some patchy rain
0:02:05 > 0:02:07coming into Northern Ireland later in the day.
0:02:07 > 0:02:09That's the forerunner really
0:02:09 > 0:02:11of these next weather fronts
0:02:11 > 0:02:12and areas of low pressure
0:02:12 > 0:02:15that are taking over later on in the week.
0:02:15 > 0:02:16These weather fronts pushing
0:02:16 > 0:02:18right away across the UK on Thursday
0:02:18 > 0:02:20to bring cloud and outbreaks of rain,
0:02:20 > 0:02:22some blustery winds perhaps.
0:02:22 > 0:02:24The rain could be quite heavy at times,
0:02:24 > 0:02:25even in the South,
0:02:25 > 0:02:28where we've got warmer air in the South-East.
0:02:28 > 0:02:29Some of the heaviest rain
0:02:29 > 0:02:31likely to be in Western Scotland,
0:02:31 > 0:02:33closer to that area of low pressure.
0:02:33 > 0:02:34That's taken a shine to Scotland
0:02:34 > 0:02:36and Northern Ireland by the end of the week.
0:02:36 > 0:02:39It's not moving away very quickly.
0:02:39 > 0:02:40Some blustery winds around
0:02:40 > 0:02:42that area of low pressure on Friday
0:02:42 > 0:02:44and a fresher feel across the South.
0:02:44 > 0:02:46Even here, whilst there'll be some sunshine,
0:02:46 > 0:02:48we'll get some showers,
0:02:48 > 0:02:50possibly longer spells of rain
0:02:50 > 0:02:53further north for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
0:02:53 > 0:02:56Let's look ahead, and a lot of uncertainty, it has to be said.
0:02:56 > 0:02:59The trend as we head into the beginning of September
0:02:59 > 0:03:01should see some drier weather returning.
0:03:01 > 0:03:04Some slightly higher temperatures.
0:03:04 > 0:03:08But Cristobal, which is a tropical storm in the Caribbean at the moment,
0:03:08 > 0:03:12could come across the Atlantic and influence our weather in some way.
0:03:12 > 0:03:14A lot of uncertainty about that.
0:03:14 > 0:03:17We'll probably start the weekend with low pressure over the UK still
0:03:17 > 0:03:19bringing outbreaks of rain.
0:03:19 > 0:03:21Then we're looking at this high-pressure to build
0:03:21 > 0:03:23and become amplified from the South-West,
0:03:23 > 0:03:25bringing some drier conditions
0:03:25 > 0:03:28and hopefully some better temperatures as well.
0:03:28 > 0:03:31But no doubt things will change over the next few days.
