0:00:05 > 0:00:07Hello. Despite the promising start to summer,

0:00:07 > 0:00:09this month may turn out to be the coolest August in over 20 years.

0:00:09 > 0:00:13Part of the responsibility for that is down to ex-Hurricane Bertha,

0:00:13 > 0:00:15which shook up the weather patterns across the UK,

0:00:15 > 0:00:17plunging them into a much cooler regime.

0:00:17 > 0:00:18Another ex-hurricane, Cristobal,

0:00:18 > 0:00:21currently pushing across the North Atlantic,

0:00:21 > 0:00:22may be about to change that.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24Not at the moment, as we're still stuck with

0:00:24 > 0:00:27a west to northwesterly regime as we go into the start of the weekend.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29Weather fronts clearing away from the south coast early on.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31A lot of dry and bright weather here.

0:00:31 > 0:00:33Those west to northwesterly winds

0:00:33 > 0:00:35bringing showers across western areas initially,

0:00:35 > 0:00:36pushing eastwards on the breeze.

0:00:36 > 0:00:39But certainly fewer around than we saw on Friday.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42Most of you will have, if not a completely dry day,

0:00:42 > 0:00:43a largely dry day.

0:00:43 > 0:00:44A few exceptions - northern Scotland.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47Even into the afternoon, heavy showers there,

0:00:47 > 0:00:49particularly to the northeast, the odd rumble of thunder.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52One or two showers into Northern Ireland.

0:00:52 > 0:00:54Southern Scotland best for some of those drier moments.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56Same, too, in northern England,

0:00:56 > 0:00:57although to the northeast

0:00:57 > 0:00:59we could see one or two heavier showers late on.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01In the wind that we have, we'll have showers

0:01:01 > 0:01:02running from North Wales

0:01:02 > 0:01:05through into the Home Counties during the afternoon.

0:01:05 > 0:01:06Good gaps between them,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08and south of that across southern counties of England,

0:01:08 > 0:01:10it should be fine and bright.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13Temperatures across the country, mid to high teens, if not low 20s.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15The showers will generally fade away as we go through the night

0:01:15 > 0:01:16and into Sunday.

0:01:16 > 0:01:18One or two spots of rain in the west.

0:01:18 > 0:01:19A little bit cooler night

0:01:19 > 0:01:22than the night that takes us into Saturday morning.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25But a fine, bright, pleasant start to your Sunday.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29That's because we've got this ridge of high pressure with us.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32By this stage, ex-Hurricane Cristobal getting closer to Iceland.

0:01:32 > 0:01:36But for us, high pressure means a mostly a dry day in store.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38There could be a few mist and fog patches around first thing.

0:01:38 > 0:01:42Weather fronts trying to push in from the west, spreading some high clouds.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44There could be hazy sunshine at best across western areas

0:01:44 > 0:01:46and then later on some patchy rain.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49Northern Ireland and into the western fringes as the breeze picks up.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52But with good, dry and bright weather elsewhere a pleasant Sunday.

0:01:52 > 0:01:5517-22 Celsius, the high.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58Weather fronts may push across us on Sunday night into Monday.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01Again, linked to Cristobal, but compared to Bertha,

0:02:01 > 0:02:04which brought a change for the cooler, Cristobal's pushing north,

0:02:04 > 0:02:08helping to induce this build of high pressure from the southwest.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11It's going to be a gradual process into the start of next week.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13We've still got those weak weather fronts

0:02:13 > 0:02:15which come to lie across some southern parts

0:02:15 > 0:02:16of England and Wales. Fairly cloudy.

0:02:16 > 0:02:20Some damp and drizzly weather, but brightening up through the afternoon.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22Elsewhere largely dry and sunny day in store.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25As this area of high pressure continues to build into Tuesday,

0:02:25 > 0:02:28the weather fronts become less of a feature.

0:02:28 > 0:02:29There will be areas of cloud around.

0:02:29 > 0:02:31It's not a completely sunny high by any means.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34Once the sunshine breaks through with light winds,

0:02:34 > 0:02:37we're starting to bring warmer air our way.

0:02:37 > 0:02:41Temperatures day on day will start to creep up.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43Showers few and far between. Most will be dry on Tuesday.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45And that trend continues into Wednesday.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48By this stage, the high pressure to the east of us.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50And with light winds, a few mist and fog patches expected

0:02:50 > 0:02:52first thing in the morning.

0:02:52 > 0:02:56One or two showers possible across northeastern parts of the UK

0:02:56 > 0:02:58and one or two to the northwest.

0:02:58 > 0:02:59But in the sunshine and light winds

0:02:59 > 0:03:03we're now getting most of us close to 20, if not above.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06And the trend continues from Thursday into Sunday,

0:03:06 > 0:03:08as we go into the following weekend.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11High pressure to the southeast of us, dragging in that warmer air.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13But low pressure to the northwest.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16There is a sign that low pressure could get very close by.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18It will come into play at some point during this period.

0:03:18 > 0:03:22While we do start warm with some good dry and sunny weather,

0:03:22 > 0:03:24there is a brief wetter spell on the way.

0:03:24 > 0:03:25Exactly when that occurs

0:03:25 > 0:03:27is the biggest uncertainty at the moment,

0:03:27 > 0:03:29but it looks like it will be brief

0:03:29 > 0:03:30and once it clears away

0:03:30 > 0:03:32we could be back to the sunshine and warmth again.

0:03:36 > 0:03:37What is it?

0:03:37 > 0:03:39That? That's a monkey.

0:03:39 > 0:03:41This is a parrot.

0:03:41 > 0:03:44Where are they going to live?

0:03:44 > 0:03:46Your George has finally cracked.

0:03:46 > 0:03:48Wow! He looked right at me.

0:03:48 > 0:03:49George, what's going on?
