0:00:02 > 0:00:04Thanks for tuning in to our daily look at the weather

0:00:04 > 0:00:07for the next few days. We'll have a look at some detail

0:00:07 > 0:00:10as far as next week, but we're going to start with the here and now.

0:00:10 > 0:00:12We'll start with Thursday.

0:00:12 > 0:00:15Thursday, for many of us, is going to be similar

0:00:15 > 0:00:18to what we experienced during Wednesday,

0:00:18 > 0:00:20so for many of us it's a dry, fine day

0:00:20 > 0:00:22with some sunshine.

0:00:22 > 0:00:23Let's take the tour.

0:00:23 > 0:00:26Firstly starting with the South of the country.

0:00:26 > 0:00:28This is four o'clock in the afternoon.

0:00:28 > 0:00:30I suspect temperatures will peak

0:00:30 > 0:00:31at around 23 degrees.

0:00:31 > 0:00:33You'll notice there's a lot of shade

0:00:33 > 0:00:34on our weather chart here,

0:00:34 > 0:00:37but I suspect the cloud will be breaking from time to time,

0:00:37 > 0:00:39so it won't be such a bad day.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41Most amounts of sunshine along the South coast

0:00:41 > 0:00:43and these Western areas as well,

0:00:43 > 0:00:44and even in the lowlands of Scotland

0:00:44 > 0:00:47temperatures could get up to around 20 degrees.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49You'll notice above my head, a little rain

0:00:49 > 0:00:51nudging into the Western Isles of Scotland,

0:00:51 > 0:00:53so for our friends in the Outer Hebrides,

0:00:53 > 0:00:55the Western Isles, there could be a few spots of rain.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58A little fresher there as well, around 15 degrees.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01Let's have a look at the forecast for the following night.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03This is Thursday night into Friday.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05You'll notice where the weather front is.

0:01:05 > 0:01:07So some wet weather around for Scotland

0:01:07 > 0:01:08and also Northern Ireland too.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11To the South of that it's going to be

0:01:11 > 0:01:13a dry Friday morning.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15Let's see what happens on Friday.

0:01:15 > 0:01:16Well, there's not much happening

0:01:16 > 0:01:18on the weather charts here.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20All we have is a weather front slicing Scotland

0:01:20 > 0:01:22and just about nudging into Northern Ireland.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25To the South of that, it's quiet.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28So Friday starts off a little on the wet side

0:01:28 > 0:01:29across parts of Scotland,

0:01:29 > 0:01:31particularly Aberdeenshire into Fife,

0:01:31 > 0:01:34maybe through the Lowlands into Belfast as well.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36But if you live further South of that,

0:01:36 > 0:01:40I think at worst you're going to get cloudier skies,

0:01:40 > 0:01:42but a bit of sunshine on the way too.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44We're ending the week on a quiet note

0:01:44 > 0:01:45across the South of the country

0:01:45 > 0:01:48with temperatures up to 22 degrees Celsius.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51Then on Friday, you notice where this weather front is.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53You just get the impression that it's moving

0:01:53 > 0:01:55a little bit further southwards,

0:01:55 > 0:01:57so that means that on Saturday

0:01:57 > 0:02:00it's this more central swathe - so not Scotland,

0:02:00 > 0:02:02it's these more central swathes of the country

0:02:02 > 0:02:04that will have a little more cloud and a few spots of rain,

0:02:04 > 0:02:06but it's a dying weather front, it's falling apart,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08so we're not particularly anticipating any wash-out.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10In fact, for most of us,

0:02:10 > 0:02:13Saturday is going to be dry. Then on Sunday,

0:02:13 > 0:02:15this is Saturday night into Sunday,

0:02:15 > 0:02:17we're in between weather systems.

0:02:17 > 0:02:18One is across here,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20one towards the southwest of our neighbourhood,

0:02:20 > 0:02:22but that one further North

0:02:22 > 0:02:24is just about clipping Scotland.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26So here we are expecting rain,

0:02:26 > 0:02:28cooler weather, too, 14-15 degrees,

0:02:28 > 0:02:30whereas the much better weather

0:02:30 > 0:02:31is across the South of the country.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34As we head into next week, not really much happens.

0:02:34 > 0:02:35You see these pressure lines,

0:02:35 > 0:02:37these white lines, isobars?

0:02:37 > 0:02:40When there's not many of them across our part of the world

0:02:40 > 0:02:43that means that there's not an awful lot of wind.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45I'm going to fade these pressure lines

0:02:45 > 0:02:46and show you what the wind's doing.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48You can see where the low pressures are.

0:02:48 > 0:02:49This is where the real wind is.

0:02:49 > 0:02:51Across us we've got hardly anything at all.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54That basically means that when you have light winds

0:02:54 > 0:02:55the weather doesn't change,

0:02:55 > 0:02:57there's nothing to move the weather patterns

0:02:57 > 0:03:02across the country, so looking at it in a schematic view,

0:03:02 > 0:03:05you've got the high to the South, the low's here.

0:03:05 > 0:03:09That is pushing mild-ish weather, drier weather in our direction.

0:03:09 > 0:03:13So for the week ahead, into next week, that is,

0:03:13 > 0:03:16it looks as though it's going to be relatively quiet.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18The outlook is little rain on the way,

0:03:18 > 0:03:20with that weather pattern it is often going to be dry.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22It's not going to be particularly cold.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25I suspect temperatures will be getting up into the low 20s.

0:03:25 > 0:03:26So that's it.

0:03:26 > 0:03:28That's the outlook for the next few days.
