0:00:05 > 0:00:08Hello there, it's the time of day to take a longer

0:00:08 > 0:00:10look at the weather, and go beyond the 4-5 day period,

0:00:10 > 0:00:13and take a look at the 6-10 day period.

0:00:13 > 0:00:16We'll start with the next few days and it looks like it will be a

0:00:16 > 0:00:20pretty wet and breezy start to Sunday across the Northeast of Scotland.

0:00:20 > 0:00:23The rain there and thereabouts for much of the day.

0:00:23 > 0:00:26The rainfall totals really totting up. Elsewhere, it's a

0:00:26 > 0:00:28decent day with a cloudy start in the South,

0:00:28 > 0:00:29maybe patches of fog,

0:00:29 > 0:00:32but the cloud becomes thinner in the afternoon, and apart from

0:00:32 > 0:00:35possible rain in the far Southeast, most places will be fine and dry.

0:00:35 > 0:00:39It will be quite warm, 21-22 degrees in the London area,

0:00:39 > 0:00:4119-20 towards Plymouth.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44Across Wales, and the Midlands, some good spells of sunshine,

0:00:44 > 0:00:48and in Northern England, after a sunny start, cloud in the afternoon.

0:00:48 > 0:00:5217 degrees in Newcastle, should be a nice day for the Great North Run.

0:00:52 > 0:00:55Northern Scotland, wet, windy and on the cool side.

0:00:55 > 0:00:5712-13 degrees for Inverness and Aberdeen.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00But, in Northern Ireland it should be a decent afternoon,

0:01:00 > 0:01:02as it will be in the South and West of Scotland.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04Overnight, that rain is still there in Scotland

0:01:04 > 0:01:06but becomes lighter and patchy.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08Elsewhere it's a dry night with clear spells

0:01:08 > 0:01:11and rural spots will dip into single figures.

0:01:11 > 0:01:15Major towns and cities holding on to 10-11 degrees.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18Into the start of the new week, and it looks good for most places.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21We've got this area of high pressure drifting in from the West.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24That will help settle things down.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27There's still a bit of a squeeze on the isobars across the UK,

0:01:27 > 0:01:29so it will bring a bit of a breeze down from the North,

0:01:29 > 0:01:31and that breeze will bring cloud with it.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34The cloud filtering its way southwards all the while.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37The further South you are the more you should see some sunshine

0:01:37 > 0:01:38to start the working week.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41Further North there's a lot of cloud around, in spite of that

0:01:41 > 0:01:44temperatures doing reasonably well, 16-17 degrees here,

0:01:44 > 0:01:48but with sunshine further South it's the upper-teens or the low 20s,

0:01:48 > 0:01:5121-22 degrees again in London.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53That area of high pressure will establish

0:01:53 > 0:01:56itself across the UK as we get into Tuesday.

0:01:56 > 0:01:59So, the winds are lighter,

0:01:59 > 0:02:03but Northerly components will push the cloud Southwards,

0:02:03 > 0:02:04and there'll be a lot of cloud

0:02:04 > 0:02:06trapped under this area of high pressure, so

0:02:06 > 0:02:10determining sunshine through Tuesday and Wednesday will be difficult.

0:02:10 > 0:02:11I mean, there will be some sunshine,

0:02:11 > 0:02:13but I suspect overall a cloudy picture.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16Light winds as well, and temperatures into the low 20s.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19Through Wednesday, our area of high pressure drifts further North

0:02:19 > 0:02:22allowing the breeze to pick up in the South, and low pressure to the South.

0:02:22 > 0:02:26So, another decent day on Wednesday.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29A lot of cloud around, a light breeze in the South.

0:02:29 > 0:02:34Another dry day with quite a lot of cloud limited sunshine,

0:02:34 > 0:02:3819-20 degrees will be the top temperature.

0:02:38 > 0:02:42On into Thursday, the high still drifting further North,

0:02:42 > 0:02:45notice the isobars still picking up the South and the West again,

0:02:45 > 0:02:48just picking up a little.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50Still, though we are underneath the influence of high pressure,

0:02:50 > 0:02:53and it's going to be fairly settled towards the end of the week.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56You've still got that high area, still got the lows in the South

0:02:56 > 0:03:00and the West, but it's a dry day on Friday across the board.

0:03:00 > 0:03:04As we get onto the 6-10 day period,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06it looks as if we are going to keep the setup of the high towards

0:03:06 > 0:03:09the East of the UK, the low towards the South and the West.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12In-between, a southerly airstream will bring a warmer air

0:03:12 > 0:03:14towards our shores.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17Temperatures rise by a couple degrees to nine to ten.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20Also, this area of low pressure towards the South and West

0:03:20 > 0:03:21could encroach further,

0:03:21 > 0:03:24so days 6-8 quite decent for most places,

0:03:24 > 0:03:27with varying amounts of cloud, but days 9 and 10,

0:03:27 > 0:03:28we could well see that low

0:03:28 > 0:03:30in the South and West making some advances

0:03:30 > 0:03:32and rain is possible in the Southwest.
