0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello. It's time to take a look at the weather conditions over

0:00:05 > 0:00:07the week ahead and a glimpse of what might lie beyond.

0:00:07 > 0:00:10The weather could eventually be influenced by developments quite a

0:00:10 > 0:00:11long way away from our shores.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14In the short-term through this weekend we are more or less

0:00:14 > 0:00:15set fair to be honest.

0:00:15 > 0:00:19It's looking good for mostly dry, bright, and at times sunny weather,

0:00:19 > 0:00:21though it could turn a touch breezy eventually.

0:00:21 > 0:00:24If you were watching last night I was describing the way that the

0:00:24 > 0:00:28jet stream, the strong westerly jet stream, which normally powers across

0:00:28 > 0:00:32the Atlantic is really being deflected way to the South and it's

0:00:32 > 0:00:35getting cut off by a huge great vortex.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38This is where all the weather action is taking place.

0:00:38 > 0:00:42Areas of cloud and rain revolving around that vortex.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44They're not making much headway towards us

0:00:44 > 0:00:47because that jet stream is not moving things on.

0:00:47 > 0:00:51Instead we are experiencing mostly dry, fine and settled weather

0:00:51 > 0:00:55because closer to home we have the influence of high pressure

0:00:55 > 0:00:57and that's just to the East of our shores.

0:00:57 > 0:01:01It will continue to fend off this area of low pressure for a

0:01:01 > 0:01:02while longer.

0:01:02 > 0:01:06That's the reason that for the next couple of days we'll be dry

0:01:06 > 0:01:09with plenty of fine weather to look forward to by day.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12There will be some mist and fog patches. It's autumn after all.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15They should lift away quite nicely through the morning and then,

0:01:15 > 0:01:17although there will be some patchy cloud,

0:01:17 > 0:01:19most of us can look forward to plenty of sunshine

0:01:19 > 0:01:20through the day.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23The winds will be fairly light coming in from the East

0:01:23 > 0:01:26and in the sunshine temperatures really doing pretty well again,

0:01:26 > 0:01:29up into the high teens, the low 20s,

0:01:29 > 0:01:30quite nicely.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33Sunday will provide more of the same.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36In broad terms plenty more fine, dry and bright weather.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38The breeze will be freshening a little bit from the East.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40You will notice that particularly across Southern areas

0:01:40 > 0:01:43and it could well thicken up the cloud across some Eastern areas

0:01:43 > 0:01:45and produce the odd drizzly shower,

0:01:45 > 0:01:46but I must stress that nearly all of us

0:01:46 > 0:01:50will stay dry with plenty more fine, bright weather in the sunshine.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53Again temperatures getting up into the low 20s

0:01:53 > 0:01:55in a good few locations.

0:01:55 > 0:01:59That's the weekend done and dusted. What about further ahead?

0:01:59 > 0:02:01First of all we have to look to the East.

0:02:01 > 0:02:04We have a little weather system coming in across the North Sea

0:02:04 > 0:02:08and that could deliver some showery outbreaks of rain into

0:02:08 > 0:02:11Eastern areas primarily. Pretty hit and miss.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13Not reliable rain by any means.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16If you do need wet weather then don't bank on this to provide it.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18Many places again will be dry.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20Once more in the sunshine it will feel pleasant enough.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23That little feature will slide its way up the North Sea coast into

0:02:23 > 0:02:26parts of Eastern Scotland we think by Tuesday.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28Further showery bursts of rain possible here for a time with a cool

0:02:28 > 0:02:31breeze off the sea, but again further South

0:02:31 > 0:02:33and West it will be fine with some sunshine.

0:02:33 > 0:02:37Wednesday again most places will stay dry with some sunshine,

0:02:37 > 0:02:40but then all eyes to the Southwest with that vortex,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42that deep area of low pressure I mentioned.

0:02:42 > 0:02:47The question is how quickly that low pressure moves up towards us.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50It could well be that it's going to be a real struggle and the

0:02:50 > 0:02:52impact of that low against that

0:02:52 > 0:02:54high pressure could be quite limited.

0:02:54 > 0:02:58Rain could arrive for a time but it might not get very far

0:02:58 > 0:03:01and the reason for that could well lie in the Central Atlantic.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04We are keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Edouard.

0:03:04 > 0:03:05That's developing.

0:03:05 > 0:03:07It could intensify into a hurricane

0:03:07 > 0:03:11and head its way Northwards through the Atlantic.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13And although it will go nowhere near the UK it could have a

0:03:13 > 0:03:17downstream effect on our weather and make things even less

0:03:17 > 0:03:18certain by the end of next week.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21So although it will turn briefly less settled it could well be that the

0:03:21 > 0:03:23high-pressure hangs on.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26There won't be much in the way of rainfall and potentially

0:03:26 > 0:03:29towards the end of the next week it could turn pretty warm indeed.

0:03:29 > 0:03:30That's it. Good night.

0:03:31 > 0:03:32CHATTER

0:03:32 > 0:03:33PHONE RINGS

0:03:34 > 0:03:36Sh!

0:03:36 > 0:03:38What kind of story are we talking?

0:03:41 > 0:03:43Good afternoon.

0:03:43 > 0:03:47We have got teams all over the UK. I want this story blown wide open.
