0:00:04 > 0:00:06Hello there. It's time for our regular look

0:00:06 > 0:00:07at the weather for the week ahead.

0:00:07 > 0:00:10Last week, of course, we had a lot of dry weather.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13This week looks slightly different. There will be some rain around,

0:00:13 > 0:00:15the showers that we were expecting this week.

0:00:15 > 0:00:16They will be very hit and miss,

0:00:16 > 0:00:19and by no means guaranteed to get the wet weather.

0:00:19 > 0:00:21There will be some sunshine, particularly in the afternoons.

0:00:21 > 0:00:24The mornings rather grey and misty, but we have this warming trend

0:00:24 > 0:00:28this week, particularly for the Southern half of the UK.

0:00:28 > 0:00:29Let's set the scene, then,

0:00:29 > 0:00:32and the high pressure that was over the UK last week

0:00:32 > 0:00:34is retreating back to the near continent,

0:00:34 > 0:00:36to Scandinavia, and the Easterly breeze

0:00:36 > 0:00:38is setting up this low pressure, likely to have

0:00:38 > 0:00:40an influence later in the week.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42The Easterly breeze, though, means

0:00:42 > 0:00:44a grey, misty, murky, foggy start

0:00:44 > 0:00:46in quite a few places on Tuesday.

0:00:46 > 0:00:47Only slowly lifting in the morning.

0:00:47 > 0:00:48Sunny spells developing

0:00:48 > 0:00:50a little more widely through the afternoon.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53That will trigger a few showers once again.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55And the showers across the South could be heavy,

0:00:55 > 0:00:57possibly thundery, but very hit and miss,

0:00:57 > 0:01:00and a lot of places are still dry on Tuesday.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02Another warm day for the South-east.

0:01:02 > 0:01:0423 degrees is quite likely.

0:01:04 > 0:01:05It should be a bit warmer

0:01:05 > 0:01:07across the rest of England and Wales,

0:01:07 > 0:01:08typically 20 or 21,

0:01:08 > 0:01:10and a warmer day for Northern Ireland

0:01:10 > 0:01:12and for Scotland as well.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14Still a few showers around here, perhaps,

0:01:14 > 0:01:16but a bit of sunshine away from the East Coast

0:01:16 > 0:01:17will lift temperatures higher

0:01:17 > 0:01:18than they were on Monday.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20The more persistent rain

0:01:20 > 0:01:21is across the Northern Isles.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23As we head into Wednesday, again,

0:01:23 > 0:01:24a grey, misty, murky start,

0:01:24 > 0:01:27a lot of low cloud around on that Easterly breeze.

0:01:27 > 0:01:28We break that up and get the sunshine

0:01:28 > 0:01:30initially across Western areas,

0:01:30 > 0:01:31then later in the South,

0:01:31 > 0:01:33but the easterly breeze continues to drag in

0:01:33 > 0:01:34a lot of cloud for Eastern Scotland

0:01:34 > 0:01:35and North-east England.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38This is where we'll see most of the showers.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40There'll be a few set off further South

0:01:40 > 0:01:41thanks to the heat

0:01:41 > 0:01:42during the afternoon, perhaps.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44But again, a lot of places are dry.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46We've got this warmer air

0:01:46 > 0:01:47trying to tuck its way into the UK,

0:01:47 > 0:01:49coming in from the near continent,

0:01:49 > 0:01:52and wrapped around the top of an area of low pressure.

0:01:52 > 0:01:53It's not just warmer air,

0:01:53 > 0:01:55but it's rather humid air as well.

0:01:55 > 0:01:56There's that big low.

0:01:56 > 0:01:59It's been sitting there for well over a week now.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01It's starting to get a little bit closer.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03Pressure is somewhat lower this week,

0:02:03 > 0:02:04and these bands of showers

0:02:04 > 0:02:06are likely to head our way.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08Maybe not so much on Thursday.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10Again, not many showers on Thursday.

0:02:10 > 0:02:11A lot of places will be dry.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13Most of the showers will be in the South.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15And always the struggle to break the cloud up

0:02:15 > 0:02:17across Eastern Scotland and the North-east

0:02:17 > 0:02:20of England, so here, temperatures will be

0:02:20 > 0:02:22a bit lower still, 15, 16 degrees,

0:02:22 > 0:02:23not particularly good,

0:02:23 > 0:02:25whereas further South and further West,

0:02:25 > 0:02:26it will be much warmer.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28We could get 25 in the South-east of England.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30The last time we had that number

0:02:30 > 0:02:32was back on August 8.

0:02:32 > 0:02:33So, some late heat, then.

0:02:33 > 0:02:36Not quite as warm in the South on Friday,

0:02:36 > 0:02:38because there will be more showers.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40These could be heavy, possibly thundery.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42To the north, it is much drier.

0:02:42 > 0:02:44As we head into Saturday,

0:02:44 > 0:02:45it's beginning to dry off once again.

0:02:45 > 0:02:47Still a few showers around,

0:02:47 > 0:02:50but those temperatures probably not quite as high.

0:02:50 > 0:02:5220 to 22 degrees at best.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54We've got high pressure building in over the weekend,

0:02:54 > 0:02:56coming in from the Atlantic,

0:02:56 > 0:02:58so it's bringing with it some slightly cooler air.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00Over the last few days, you may have heard us

0:03:00 > 0:03:03talking about Hurricane, or Ex-Hurricane,

0:03:03 > 0:03:05as it will be, Edouard in the Atlantic,

0:03:05 > 0:03:07and how it might have an influence on our weather.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09That looks less likely now.

0:03:09 > 0:03:10It's a long way further South

0:03:10 > 0:03:13than it should be to influence our shores.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16Instead, we look at the deep low

0:03:16 > 0:03:18that's heading towards Iceland.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21That is a typical mid-Atlantic depression,

0:03:21 > 0:03:25and it could get steered by the jet stream our way next week.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27But a lot of uncertainty about next week.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29The trend could see it more

0:03:29 > 0:03:30unsettled in the North-west,

0:03:30 > 0:03:32much drier in the South-east.

0:03:34 > 0:03:36As the eyes of the world focus on Scotland,

0:03:36 > 0:03:39we wait to discover the future of the United Kingdom.

0:03:39 > 0:03:43Will Scotland vote to become an independent country or stay

0:03:43 > 0:03:47part of the Union, and what could this historic night mean for you?

0:03:47 > 0:03:51Join me, Huw Edwards, and the team as we bring you every result,

0:03:51 > 0:03:53every step of the way.

0:03:53 > 0:03:56The Scottish Referendum across the BBC.
