0:00:04 > 0:00:06Hello. Coming up, why our weather next week becomes more changeable

0:00:06 > 0:00:08and the role the jet stream has to play in that.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11But first all the weather changes we are all going to experience as

0:00:11 > 0:00:14we go through this weekend, because if you've had thunderstorms

0:00:14 > 0:00:15they will be easing.

0:00:15 > 0:00:19If you've had low cloud, mist and drizzle all of that clears away

0:00:19 > 0:00:22and cooler, but fresher air will be pushing

0:00:22 > 0:00:24South across the United Kingdom,

0:00:24 > 0:00:27as we lose the influence of this area of low pressure to the

0:00:27 > 0:00:29Southwest of us which has been pushing energy

0:00:29 > 0:00:32our way in the form of thunderstorms for some, high-pressure builds in

0:00:32 > 0:00:35and that's going to give us the cleaner, fresher air.

0:00:35 > 0:00:37I think the biggest change will be in Eastern Scotland

0:00:37 > 0:00:38and North East England.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40After a whole week of low cloud, mist

0:00:40 > 0:00:44and murk, this cold front moving South on Saturday will clear all of

0:00:44 > 0:00:49that away and give us brighter skies, better visibility to look forward to.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51The whole of the UK will be in that cleaner,

0:00:51 > 0:00:54fresher air by the time we get to Sunday.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56Let's look at the weekend day by day.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58We start with Saturday and still a lot of mist,

0:00:58 > 0:01:00low cloud and murk across England and Wales.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03Plenty of cloud throughout the day. There will be some showers to be had.

0:01:03 > 0:01:04There will be

0:01:04 > 0:01:07some heavy ones developing across parts of Southern England into the

0:01:07 > 0:01:11afternoon even though it's not as warm, not as muggy as it's been.

0:01:11 > 0:01:14Any showers very hit and miss, and a few throughout affecting

0:01:14 > 0:01:17parts of Eastern England that could be heavy and thundery.

0:01:17 > 0:01:18And the odd shower

0:01:18 > 0:01:20elsewhere in England and Wales, but also plenty of dry weather.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23For Scotland and Northern Ireland there will be a few showers moving

0:01:23 > 0:01:26through on this North, Northwesterly breeze,

0:01:26 > 0:01:28but there will also be some sunny spells to be had.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31Sunshine in places that have not seen it for some time.

0:01:31 > 0:01:35But as the area of high pressure builds in for Sunday it does mean

0:01:35 > 0:01:37under clear skies, especially for the Northern half of the UK

0:01:37 > 0:01:40as Sunday begins, it's going to be a colder morning than we've

0:01:40 > 0:01:43had recently. There is even the risk of ground frost in places.

0:01:43 > 0:01:47Sunday most start dry, a mixture of cloud and sunshine and that fresh

0:01:47 > 0:01:49air, less humid air sweeps all the way down towards

0:01:49 > 0:01:51the South of the United Kingdom.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54Temperatures aren't as high, but it's better air quality,

0:01:54 > 0:01:55better visibility.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58That area of high-pressure is still around for most of us on Monday.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00That same sort of weather applies

0:02:00 > 0:02:04after a chilly start. A colder start across Southern areas on

0:02:04 > 0:02:06Monday morning than we've had recently.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08Some cloud with breeze heading into the North

0:02:08 > 0:02:12and North West of Scotland, some rain too, courtesy of a weather front

0:02:12 > 0:02:15that weakens as it starts to move South on Tuesday.

0:02:15 > 0:02:17Following behind there will be another heading

0:02:17 > 0:02:19into Northern Scotland.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22That gives you a sign our weather is beginning to change.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24Weather systems coming in one after another.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26We have not had that for a while.

0:02:26 > 0:02:27And because the jet stream,

0:02:27 > 0:02:30and this is how it's been looking for the past few weeks, has been blocked,

0:02:30 > 0:02:34all the energy from it, and it carries weather systems our way,

0:02:34 > 0:02:37hasn't been coming to our shores. That is now changing.

0:02:37 > 0:02:41As we go through next week, look at this, midweek onwards that

0:02:41 > 0:02:44jet stream is heading right towards the UK with those weather systems.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47But the influence felt more towards the Northwest,

0:02:47 > 0:02:50first to get those weather systems from the jet stream, and not

0:02:50 > 0:02:52so much down towards the Southeast.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54Around this area of high pressure that's where our weather will be

0:02:54 > 0:02:56coming from, so we end up with a

0:02:56 > 0:02:59Northwest-Southeast split towards the end of next

0:02:59 > 0:03:01week, even into the following weekend.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04The North and West of the United Kingdom will see most frequent

0:03:04 > 0:03:06incursions from weather systems giving occasional rain,

0:03:06 > 0:03:08breezy conditions, but we're not going to get too

0:03:08 > 0:03:10many of those down towards the South and East of the UK.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13So here it is drier and brighter in comparison.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16Again all the way through the end of next week into the weekend,

0:03:16 > 0:03:19even the start of the following week a Northwest-Southeast

0:03:19 > 0:03:21split across the UK.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23Our weather turning more changeable

0:03:23 > 0:03:27and again the jet stream has a major part to play in all of that.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29We'll keep you updated day by day. For now, goodbye.
