0:00:02 > 0:00:05The second part of the weekend got off to a very slow start

0:00:05 > 0:00:07for large parts of the United Kingdom,

0:00:07 > 0:00:09with some dense and quite persistent fog.

0:00:09 > 0:00:12For some areas, that fog lasted well on into the afternoon.

0:00:12 > 0:00:15But for some other areas, there was a good deal of sunshine.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17In that sunshine, in the west of Wales,

0:00:17 > 0:00:21we saw a new November temperature record - yes, we got to 22.4 degrees.

0:00:21 > 0:00:22That was recorded in Trawsgoed.

0:00:22 > 0:00:25How does that compare with the seasonal average?

0:00:25 > 0:00:27Normally in this part of the world, early November,

0:00:27 > 0:00:29you expect temperatures round about 12 Celsius.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31So, 10.4 degrees above the average.

0:00:31 > 0:00:35The fog set to return overnight tonight, thickening up all the while.

0:00:35 > 0:00:37And through Monday morning's rush hour,

0:00:37 > 0:00:39I suspect we've got further disruption.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41It'll be slow on the roads

0:00:41 > 0:00:43and there'll be further delays and cancellations,

0:00:43 > 0:00:44I suspect, at some of the airports.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46The fog dense in places, slow to clear,

0:00:46 > 0:00:47but I think it will do for many.

0:00:47 > 0:00:51Some eastern parts of England may well keep that fog into the afternoon

0:00:51 > 0:00:53and you may well do the same across southern Scotland,

0:00:53 > 0:00:54maybe, too, into Northern Ireland.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56Across the south-west, I think we'll see

0:00:56 > 0:00:58a good deal of sunshine into the afternoon,

0:00:58 > 0:01:01and we're going to get into the middle to upper teens quite easily.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04Could go a few degrees higher than that in one or two spots.

0:01:04 > 0:01:05Where the low cloud and fog lingers

0:01:05 > 0:01:08across some eastern parts of England, temperatures will struggle.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11Could be only nine or ten degrees for some places.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13It could be pretty grey into the afternoon for southern Scotland,

0:01:13 > 0:01:15maybe some parts of Northern Ireland.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17Western Scotland, more breeze, a bit more cloud.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19A bit of rain here, but the north-east of Scotland

0:01:19 > 0:01:22is a favoured spot for some sunshine into the afternoon.

0:01:22 > 0:01:23But once the sun goes down,

0:01:23 > 0:01:26that fog is going to thicken up again quite quickly.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29Maybe not too much for southernmost counties of England.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31It's probably Mid Wales, the Midlands, northwards,

0:01:31 > 0:01:33where we're going to see the fog,

0:01:33 > 0:01:35and some of that could be quite dense.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37No real problems with those temperatures

0:01:37 > 0:01:39as we get onto dawn on Tuesday.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42But a slow start from the Midlands northwards with that fog.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45Some rain pushing its way across the south-west of England

0:01:45 > 0:01:48up into Wales, through the day, bit of a breeze to go with that.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51The further south-east you are, should be essentially fine and dry.

0:01:51 > 0:01:5315, 16 degrees. And the north-east of Scotland, again,

0:01:53 > 0:01:56a favoured spot for some spells of sunshine.

0:01:56 > 0:01:59Into Wednesday, and it looks like it's going to turn

0:01:59 > 0:02:01a bit more unsettled across the southern half of the UK.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03Cloud and outbreaks of rain, a bit of a breeze.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06In between those showers, 15, 16 degrees, not so bad.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08It's double figures further north,

0:02:08 > 0:02:11where it's that bit drier, except in the north of Scotland.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14Wednesday night, into Thursday, breezy from the south-west.

0:02:14 > 0:02:15That'll keep it quite mild.

0:02:15 > 0:02:18We have this weather system coming in on Thursday from the west,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain, a bit of a breeze.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23The rain starts off initially quite heavy,

0:02:23 > 0:02:24but it'll turn light and patchy

0:02:24 > 0:02:27as you get on into the latter part of the afternoon

0:02:27 > 0:02:28and on into the evening.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31Bonfire Night, it looks like it'll be cloudy and breezy.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34The cloud may well still contain a little bit of light rain and drizzle,

0:02:34 > 0:02:36but it's not too heavy and not too widespread.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38Still breezy Thursday night into Friday.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41From the south-west, so again, it's quite mild overnight.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44Further weather systems coming in from the south-west on Friday.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46Question marks about the timing, but at the moment,

0:02:46 > 0:02:49it looks like we'll see rain across the south-west of England.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52Then it'll move its way across Wales, through the Midlands

0:02:52 > 0:02:53and up into northern England.

0:02:53 > 0:02:54And then on into next weekend.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56Take a look at the jet stream

0:02:56 > 0:02:58and it looks like it'll be well to the north of the UK,

0:02:58 > 0:03:01keeping that cold polar air a long way from us.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04We're on the warm side of the jet stream, so staying relatively mild.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07The pressure pattern looks something like this,

0:03:07 > 0:03:10with low pressure systems moving their way up towards Iceland.

0:03:10 > 0:03:12High pressure still across central Europe.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15The resulting south-westerly winds will keep things on the mild side.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18But it's also going to bring some rain at times.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21And that south-westerly wind could be quite strong.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23But the south-east of England look like it's favoured

0:03:23 > 0:03:27for some much drier weather, and staying mild with that wind coming in

0:03:27 > 0:03:29from the south and west.
