0:00:02 > 0:00:04The weather's about to change after what's been

0:00:04 > 0:00:07a curious couple of days, I'm sure you'll agree.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09For some of us, it's been gloriously sunny,

0:00:09 > 0:00:12and under those blue skies we've seen record November heat.

0:00:12 > 0:00:14For others, we've had some

0:00:14 > 0:00:18misty, foggy mornings clearing to reveal afternoon sunshine.

0:00:18 > 0:00:20But for a few, it's stayed grey and foggy

0:00:20 > 0:00:22and pretty chilly for much of the day.

0:00:22 > 0:00:23But dry.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25However, the weather is on the change,

0:00:25 > 0:00:26the fog will clear, but in its place

0:00:26 > 0:00:29we're going to see some wet weather,

0:00:29 > 0:00:31some quite gusty winds, but it will

0:00:31 > 0:00:33be mild through the rest of this week.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35The change is coming ahead courtesy of

0:00:35 > 0:00:36a jet stream which is going to

0:00:36 > 0:00:38power its way in from the south-west,

0:00:38 > 0:00:39and of course, the jet stream

0:00:39 > 0:00:41is what generates areas of low pressure

0:00:41 > 0:00:42and outbreaks of rain.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45As that jet sweeps across the country,

0:00:45 > 0:00:46we're all going to feel its effects

0:00:46 > 0:00:47over the next few days.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49Not just yet, it's still pretty quiet

0:00:49 > 0:00:51out there first thing on Tuesday,

0:00:51 > 0:00:53which does mean a foggy start again across parts

0:00:53 > 0:00:55of northern and eastern England,

0:00:55 > 0:00:57parts of Scotland too, and a few

0:00:57 > 0:00:59of those fog patches could linger.

0:00:59 > 0:01:00However, a change arriving

0:01:00 > 0:01:02across the southwest with rain,

0:01:02 > 0:01:03the first of the rain,

0:01:03 > 0:01:05for parts of southern England,

0:01:05 > 0:01:06up into Wales and the Midlands

0:01:06 > 0:01:07by the end of the afternoon.

0:01:07 > 0:01:08The best of the sunshine

0:01:08 > 0:01:10across the northern half of Scotland.

0:01:10 > 0:01:11To go through the night,

0:01:11 > 0:01:13we're going to see outbreaks of rain

0:01:13 > 0:01:14spilling further northwards,

0:01:14 > 0:01:16some heavy bursts, particularly out west,

0:01:16 > 0:01:17but nobody immune,

0:01:17 > 0:01:19and sharp showers potentially

0:01:19 > 0:01:20across some eastern counties

0:01:20 > 0:01:21later on in the night.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23Still a few fog patches perhaps across

0:01:23 > 0:01:24the north of Scotland

0:01:24 > 0:01:25first thing on Wednesday,

0:01:25 > 0:01:27but a completely different complexion

0:01:27 > 0:01:28to the weather map,

0:01:28 > 0:01:29we've lost the fog,

0:01:29 > 0:01:31outbreaks of rain scattered around,

0:01:31 > 0:01:32but, yes, again, mild,

0:01:32 > 0:01:34temperatures in double figures

0:01:34 > 0:01:36and up into the mid-teens in some places.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38The reason for the rain -

0:01:38 > 0:01:40this little area of low pressure,

0:01:40 > 0:01:41that's only going to be followed

0:01:41 > 0:01:43by some rather more potent areas

0:01:43 > 0:01:45of low pressure and weather front

0:01:45 > 0:01:46sweeping in off the Atlantic.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48In fact, during the course of Thursday,

0:01:48 > 0:01:50one such feature will spread rain in

0:01:50 > 0:01:51from the west on a strengthening wind.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54A dry start across some eastern areas,

0:01:54 > 0:01:56but if you've got fireworks parties planned, well,

0:01:56 > 0:01:57take something waterproof,

0:01:57 > 0:01:59because that rain will be arriving

0:01:59 > 0:02:00from the west later on in the day

0:02:00 > 0:02:02and some of that could be quite heavy.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05Overnight, it sweeps across the whole

0:02:05 > 0:02:06of the country, then, a short respite,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08but only a short one,

0:02:08 > 0:02:09before the next low pressure system

0:02:09 > 0:02:11comes in during Friday.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13And that's targeting more northern parts of the UK

0:02:13 > 0:02:14with some strong winds

0:02:14 > 0:02:16and potentially some heavy rain.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18Any rain further south will be quite light,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20and despite a gusty wind,

0:02:20 > 0:02:23remarkably mild, up into the high teens

0:02:23 > 0:02:24once more across some southern areas

0:02:24 > 0:02:26if you see some brightness.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28Now, big question mark about Saturday.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30Some computer models are generating

0:02:30 > 0:02:32quite a nasty area of low pressure

0:02:32 > 0:02:35pushing up towards the north of Scotland.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37Other computer models aren't so keen on this,

0:02:37 > 0:02:39so there's a lot of wriggle room,

0:02:39 > 0:02:40still, a lot of uncertainty.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42The potential is there

0:02:42 > 0:02:43for some quite stormy weather,

0:02:43 > 0:02:45we'll keep you posted,

0:02:45 > 0:02:47it could well be it's not just as nasty as this,

0:02:47 > 0:02:49but, yes, certainly some wet and windy weather,

0:02:49 > 0:02:51particularly across the more northern parts

0:02:51 > 0:02:52of the UK, with the risk of gales,

0:02:52 > 0:02:54somewhat lighter winds,

0:02:54 > 0:02:56not so much rain further south.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58Watch out for weather warnings

0:02:58 > 0:03:00as we close in on that potential.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02Into next week, further low pressure systems

0:03:02 > 0:03:04will be gliding across

0:03:04 > 0:03:06the more northern parts of the country.

0:03:06 > 0:03:07Closest to the area

0:03:07 > 0:03:09of high pressure further south

0:03:09 > 0:03:10we'll see lighter winds

0:03:10 > 0:03:12and less in the way of rainfall.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14But generally, the winds will be

0:03:14 > 0:03:15coming in from the west

0:03:15 > 0:03:16or the south-west for much of

0:03:16 > 0:03:18next week. What does that mean?

0:03:18 > 0:03:20It means there's no sign of any

0:03:20 > 0:03:22significantly cold weather just yet.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24We will see some outbreaks of rain

0:03:24 > 0:03:26and some quite gusty winds.

0:03:26 > 0:03:27The driest weather always across

0:03:27 > 0:03:29the more southern parts of the UK.
