0:00:02 > 0:00:03Bit of snow around by the end of the week,

0:00:03 > 0:00:05but before we get too excited,

0:00:05 > 0:00:07it'll be mostly up over the mountains of northern Britain.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09Turning a bit chillier, but before that,

0:00:09 > 0:00:10plenty more mild weather to come.

0:00:10 > 0:00:12Wet and windy weather too,

0:00:12 > 0:00:14especially across north-western parts of the UK

0:00:14 > 0:00:17beneath the core of this strong jet stream

0:00:17 > 0:00:20which will continue to pump rain in our direction in bands

0:00:20 > 0:00:22and with each band of rain,

0:00:22 > 0:00:24the river catchments get fuller,

0:00:24 > 0:00:27so the Met Office working with the Environment Agency

0:00:27 > 0:00:29and keeping a very close eye on things.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32There will be weather warnings issued for both wind and rain.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34Take the wind, for example -

0:00:34 > 0:00:36in the morning, very strong crosswinds

0:00:36 > 0:00:39across the likes of the A1, the M6,

0:00:39 > 0:00:41with gusts of over 60mph in some places,

0:00:41 > 0:00:43so take it easy on the roads.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45Met Office warnings have been issued.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47Very windy, very wet, of course, in some places,

0:00:47 > 0:00:50especially over into the west of the Pennines,

0:00:50 > 0:00:51parts of Snowdonia as well,

0:00:51 > 0:00:54the Southern Uplands, Northern Ireland seeing a lot of heavy rain.

0:00:54 > 0:00:55It will brighten up across

0:00:55 > 0:00:57the northern half of Scotland, with some sunshine,

0:00:57 > 0:01:00though some blustery showers through the afternoon.

0:01:00 > 0:01:01The most reliable dry weather

0:01:01 > 0:01:03further south and east across England.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06Many places here will stay dry and despite the cloud,

0:01:06 > 0:01:10another very mild day up into the mid-teens once again.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12A bit fresher further north.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14As we go through the evening and night,

0:01:14 > 0:01:17the rain pushes back northwards again and by Tuesday,

0:01:17 > 0:01:19we're kind of back where we started,

0:01:19 > 0:01:22with many northern and western areas seeing plenty of rain,

0:01:22 > 0:01:24especially up over the high ground, across western areas.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27Further south and east, it'll be drier.

0:01:27 > 0:01:28A blustery wind again,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30but once more, despite the cloud,

0:01:30 > 0:01:32it will be another very mild day,

0:01:32 > 0:01:35temperatures in one or two places getting up into the high teens.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38Again, it'll be fresher across the north of Scotland,

0:01:38 > 0:01:41somewhat brighter skies here and for the north-west of Northern Ireland

0:01:41 > 0:01:43and by Armistice Day, a bit of a three-way split.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45Rain in the middle, some of that quite heavy

0:01:45 > 0:01:47and persistent for north-western parts of England and Wales.

0:01:47 > 0:01:48Drier on either side,

0:01:48 > 0:01:51the best of the brightness across northern areas.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53The winds not just as strong.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55Now, looking ahead to Thursday,

0:01:55 > 0:01:58it could be dry and bright for a time,

0:01:58 > 0:02:00with some pleasant sunshine.

0:02:00 > 0:02:01We could well see some showery rain developing,

0:02:01 > 0:02:05but it's most likely across western Scotland, Northern Ireland

0:02:05 > 0:02:07as the next weather front comes steaming in.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10Now that weather front actually is going to be quite important.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12Ahead of that, the familiar very mild air

0:02:12 > 0:02:14pumping up from the tropics.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17Behind that, a shot of cold air.

0:02:17 > 0:02:18Well, colder air -

0:02:18 > 0:02:20you can see by the blue colours -

0:02:20 > 0:02:21coming in across the UK.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23It's not going to get all that cold.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25It's all relative, but it will be

0:02:25 > 0:02:28a bit of a shock to the system nonetheless for some of us.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31Look at the temperature trends - you can wave goodbye to the 16s and 17s.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34By Friday, we'll be down into single figures in some places

0:02:34 > 0:02:37and yes, cold enough for some of the white stuff

0:02:37 > 0:02:39up over the mountains in the north.

0:02:39 > 0:02:43A very windy day, that'll accentuate the chilly feel, with gales,

0:02:43 > 0:02:45maybe severe gales in exposed places.

0:02:45 > 0:02:47Sunshine and showers.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49Most of the showers across the north and the west,

0:02:49 > 0:02:51the best of the sunshine further south and east.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54Bright start to the weekend, with some sunshine,

0:02:54 > 0:02:57albeit feeling quite chilly, but more rain powering in

0:02:57 > 0:02:59across the north and the west,

0:02:59 > 0:03:02the next Atlantic frontal system coming in.

0:03:02 > 0:03:06That will introduce milder air again, though, because south-westerly winds

0:03:06 > 0:03:09begin to get entrained and you can see the extent of that rain.

0:03:09 > 0:03:13That milder air pushes its way across the whole of the country

0:03:13 > 0:03:16through next weekend, so any cold snap as such

0:03:16 > 0:03:18isn't going to last very long at all.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21Into next week, I think temperatures will be up and down,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23but we're set to see a lot more rain, I'm afraid,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25so watch out for further warnings.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27It'll often be quite windy as well.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29Matt Taylor will update you again tomorrow.

0:03:30 > 0:03:32# Can you feel it?

0:03:32 > 0:03:34# Can you feel it?

0:03:34 > 0:03:35# Can you feel it? #

0:03:36 > 0:03:38I'm actually tingling with the excitement.
