0:00:02 > 0:00:04This weekend's cold weather has been described

0:00:04 > 0:00:07as a short, sharp shock because it doesn't stick around too long.

0:00:07 > 0:00:10Certainly, looking further ahead as far as ten days,

0:00:10 > 0:00:12our weather will be varied

0:00:12 > 0:00:15and temperatures will be from mild occasionally to cold

0:00:15 > 0:00:19but not as cold as the air we have across the UK at the moment

0:00:19 > 0:00:22nor as much snow, because some of us are now seeing our first snow

0:00:22 > 0:00:24of the season, not just on hills,

0:00:24 > 0:00:27our first proper arctic plunge.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30But actually, during Saturday, once early rain,

0:00:30 > 0:00:32sleet and snow clears away from south-east England,

0:00:32 > 0:00:34there's a lot of fine weather to come.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37Clear, crisp, clean arctic air.

0:00:37 > 0:00:38Great visibility.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40Notice showers still, though,

0:00:40 > 0:00:41for many coastal parts,

0:00:41 > 0:00:45east, west and north and still a strong to gale-force wind,

0:00:45 > 0:00:47so a bitter wind chill

0:00:47 > 0:00:49and this is what it will feel like out and about.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52For some of us, it'll feel like it's below freezing.

0:00:52 > 0:00:54We need to watch - some of these snow showers affecting

0:00:54 > 0:00:57parts of eastern England during Saturday evening.

0:00:57 > 0:00:59Could get a covering in places.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01And then overnight, Saturday into Sunday,

0:01:01 > 0:01:03we're going to see further showers spreading south -

0:01:03 > 0:01:06a lot of these tending to be of rain with hill snow.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08Away from the showers, there will be a frost

0:01:08 > 0:01:10and that's another part of the weather.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12More widespread frost than we've seen recently.

0:01:12 > 0:01:13Still a few showers dotted about,

0:01:13 > 0:01:15particularly around coastal parts

0:01:15 > 0:01:16on Sunday, but again,

0:01:16 > 0:01:20a lot of fine, sunny weather during the afternoon.

0:01:20 > 0:01:22The wind not quite as strong on Sunday

0:01:22 > 0:01:25and therefore it's not going to feel quite as cold.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28Now, we talked about the cold weather not lasting very long,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30and notice as we go from Sunday into Monday,

0:01:30 > 0:01:32around this area of high-pressure,

0:01:32 > 0:01:36we're starting to bring back into the UK Atlantic air.

0:01:36 > 0:01:37Less cold Atlantic air.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40Not from the south-west of the UK, so it's not going to be as mild

0:01:40 > 0:01:44as it's been in recent weeks, but still milder than the weekend.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46That said, wide-spread frost to start off

0:01:46 > 0:01:49on Monday with cloud moving in. Temperatures are going to struggle.

0:01:49 > 0:01:53We will see outbreaks of rain moving southwards across the UK

0:01:53 > 0:01:55as that milder air filters in.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57And then going Monday to Tuesday -

0:01:57 > 0:01:59big picture still very similar.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02Weather systems coming in across the Atlantic

0:02:02 > 0:02:04from the north-west this time.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06So, the last of Monday's rain

0:02:06 > 0:02:08clears the south-east early on Tuesday

0:02:08 > 0:02:10and then we see another system moving in

0:02:10 > 0:02:12later towards the north-west,

0:02:12 > 0:02:14initially with showers and then more persistent rain

0:02:14 > 0:02:16heading in and stronger winds once again.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19Now that rushes south-eastwards across the UK,

0:02:19 > 0:02:21Tuesday into Wednesday.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24And notice the isobars tightening - stronger winds

0:02:24 > 0:02:28and starting to pivot back towards the north and that is a theme.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30This is Wednesday's picture though.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32That rain clears away, again south-eastwards,

0:02:32 > 0:02:34then we've got sunshine and showers.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36So the theme for next week

0:02:36 > 0:02:38as far as ten days into the future shows -

0:02:38 > 0:02:40very varied weather

0:02:40 > 0:02:43with the jet stream mainly coming in from the Atlantic

0:02:43 > 0:02:47but at times just starting to pivot a little bit further north

0:02:47 > 0:02:49and tapping into some colder air.

0:02:49 > 0:02:53So what we'll find is our weather, the feel of the weather,

0:02:53 > 0:02:56temperatures swinging from mild with spells of wet

0:02:56 > 0:03:00and windy weather to occasionally something a little bit colder

0:03:00 > 0:03:01although overall,

0:03:01 > 0:03:04it looks as if temperatures will be close to average.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07If you think average is around seven to ten Celsius or occasionally

0:03:07 > 0:03:10a bit higher than that, maybe occasionally a bit lower than that.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13Yes, there will be spells of wet and windy weather,

0:03:13 > 0:03:16but there are also going to be drier and calmer interludes too.

0:03:16 > 0:03:17It says next week -

0:03:17 > 0:03:20it also includes into the following weekend.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22So very varied weather!

0:03:22 > 0:03:26Typical of British weather and very typical of this time of year.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29That's it for now. More, as ever, elsewhere online.

0:03:31 > 0:03:32We're looking for a trap street.
