0:00:02 > 0:00:03Hello. After a wintry weekend,
0:00:03 > 0:00:07temperatures steadily on the rise through the week ahead.
0:00:07 > 0:00:09Now, they're not going to be as high
0:00:09 > 0:00:12as they were for much of last week, peaking in the mid-teens,
0:00:12 > 0:00:15but they will be higher than they were through this weekend,
0:00:15 > 0:00:18when many of us were struggling at just 4 or 5 Celsius.
0:00:18 > 0:00:21The temperatures this week back up to double figures for many
0:00:21 > 0:00:24and actually back where they haven't been for most of November,
0:00:24 > 0:00:29around about the average. So yes, after a frosty, foggy start,
0:00:29 > 0:00:31temperatures will be on the rise through this week.
0:00:31 > 0:00:34Turning milder, there'll be some strong winds around
0:00:34 > 0:00:35and there'll be bouts of rain too,
0:00:35 > 0:00:37the first of which will track
0:00:37 > 0:00:38through Scotland and Northern Ireland
0:00:38 > 0:00:41during Monday, steadily sinking southwards.
0:00:41 > 0:00:42England and Wales, dry, bright
0:00:42 > 0:00:44first day of the working week, with some sunshine,
0:00:44 > 0:00:47but some dense fog patches around early on
0:00:47 > 0:00:49and, for some, particularly across East Anglia and the south-east,
0:00:49 > 0:00:51that fog could linger all day.
0:00:51 > 0:00:53If it does, temperatures are going to struggle
0:00:53 > 0:00:55to get above 3 or 4 Celsius, but generally,
0:00:55 > 0:00:587 or 8 degrees at the very best,
0:00:58 > 0:01:01but the Outer Hebrides could be the warm spot on Monday.
0:01:01 > 0:01:03Double figures possible here.
0:01:03 > 0:01:04The milder but wetter weather
0:01:04 > 0:01:06sinks its way steadily southwards
0:01:06 > 0:01:07during the course of Monday night
0:01:07 > 0:01:09and into Tuesday morning.
0:01:09 > 0:01:11It is, of course, a weather front,
0:01:11 > 0:01:13behind which - follow the isobars -
0:01:13 > 0:01:15they're no longer pointing to the Arctic,
0:01:15 > 0:01:17like they have been through much of this weekend,
0:01:17 > 0:01:20they're pointing to the North Atlantic.
0:01:20 > 0:01:21It's not exactly warm,
0:01:21 > 0:01:23but it's a lot milder than it has been.
0:01:23 > 0:01:25The weather front is still bringing rain
0:01:25 > 0:01:27across East Anglia and the south-east
0:01:27 > 0:01:28on Tuesday morning,
0:01:28 > 0:01:29but should scoot away quite sharply,
0:01:29 > 0:01:32then we're left with sunny spells, chiefly in the east -
0:01:32 > 0:01:34north-east England, eastern Scotland
0:01:34 > 0:01:36having a decent day, along with south-west England -
0:01:36 > 0:01:39and plenty of showers coming in from the Atlantic on that wind.
0:01:39 > 0:01:42Some of those showers could be quite heavy.
0:01:42 > 0:01:44Now, the weather front's well and truly
0:01:44 > 0:01:45out of the way by Tuesday afternoon.
0:01:45 > 0:01:47A subtle shift in the isobars.
0:01:47 > 0:01:49They're pointing a little bit further north,
0:01:49 > 0:01:52but it's not going to be desperately cold on Wednesday.
0:01:52 > 0:01:54The main difference will be that shift
0:01:54 > 0:01:57to bring more showers down the eastern side
0:01:57 > 0:01:58of England on Wednesday.
0:01:58 > 0:02:00Still some in the west, down the spine of the UK.
0:02:00 > 0:02:02Many places looking dry on Wednesday.
0:02:02 > 0:02:04A big area of high pressure is dominating.
0:02:04 > 0:02:06It's well away from the UK, but it's keeping
0:02:06 > 0:02:08the weather front well to the north.
0:02:08 > 0:02:10This warm front will introduce
0:02:10 > 0:02:13maybe some cloud and patchy rain to Scotland for a time,
0:02:13 > 0:02:15but it will also, as a warm front,
0:02:15 > 0:02:17introduce warmer air and temperatures,
0:02:17 > 0:02:20by Thursday, more widely over double figures.
0:02:20 > 0:02:23They could reach 12 or 13 in Northern Ireland,
0:02:23 > 0:02:28because milder air is following in for Thursday behind that warm front.
0:02:28 > 0:02:30Behind it, you'll notice, however, some cold air,
0:02:30 > 0:02:33which is spreading quickly towards us by Friday.
0:02:33 > 0:02:36That's behind another cold front.
0:02:36 > 0:02:37Now, that will bring cloud and rain
0:02:37 > 0:02:39into the west quite quickly on Friday,
0:02:39 > 0:02:40swinging across the UK,
0:02:40 > 0:02:42plenty of isobars on the chart,
0:02:42 > 0:02:44so it will be quite blustery.
0:02:44 > 0:02:48And that cold air is set to arrive as we go in towards next weekend,
0:02:48 > 0:02:50but it doesn't last as, through the weekend,
0:02:50 > 0:02:52we'll see some warmer air returning
0:02:52 > 0:02:55before the threat of colder air pushes back in later on.
0:02:55 > 0:02:59So, for next weekend and into the early part of next week,
0:02:59 > 0:03:02we'll start to see the weather, well, flip-flopping a little bit more,
0:03:02 > 0:03:05thanks to the jet stream, that fast-moving ribbon of air,
0:03:05 > 0:03:09well to the north of the UK for most of this week, but come next weekend,
0:03:09 > 0:03:12it's back driving its way south across the UK
0:03:12 > 0:03:16and it's that fast-moving ribbon of air high up, of course,
0:03:16 > 0:03:18that drives our weather systems.
0:03:18 > 0:03:20So, with them moving back towards the UK, the weather more changeable.
0:03:20 > 0:03:23There'll be spells of wet and windy weather
0:03:23 > 0:03:25into the following week, with temperatures...
0:03:25 > 0:03:27Well, cool days, milder days,
0:03:27 > 0:03:29but overall around average.
0:03:31 > 0:03:33My life is coming to an end.
