0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello there. It looks quite changeable over the next few days.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08A series of weather systems coming in from the Atlantic,

0:00:08 > 0:00:10spells of wind, spells of rain and temperatures a bit up and down.

0:00:10 > 0:00:12Through the middle of the week,

0:00:12 > 0:00:14though, we've got something

0:00:14 > 0:00:15of a west-east split with some cloud,

0:00:15 > 0:00:17outbreaks of rain, a bit of a breeze

0:00:17 > 0:00:18across the western side of the UK.

0:00:18 > 0:00:20A lovely sunny start,

0:00:20 > 0:00:22but quite chilly across the eastern side.

0:00:22 > 0:00:23Into the afternoon, western Scotland

0:00:23 > 0:00:25sees cloud and outbreaks of rain

0:00:25 > 0:00:27drifting a little bit further inland,

0:00:27 > 0:00:28but the far north-east of Scotland

0:00:28 > 0:00:30should stay fine with some sunshine

0:00:30 > 0:00:32into the afternoon, six or seven degrees.

0:00:32 > 0:00:33The other side of our weather system,

0:00:33 > 0:00:36quite mild, 10 degrees and it should dry up

0:00:36 > 0:00:38for the most part in Northern Ireland.

0:00:38 > 0:00:39The eastern side of England

0:00:39 > 0:00:40should have a good deal of sunshine

0:00:40 > 0:00:42in the morning and into the afternoon.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44Afternoon temperatures only six or seven degrees

0:00:44 > 0:00:46for some, so, despite the sunshine,

0:00:46 > 0:00:47a chilly feel to things.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49Further south and west, is that more cloud,

0:00:49 > 0:00:50outbreaks of rain, breezy,

0:00:50 > 0:00:52but mild, 10, 11, 12 degrees

0:00:52 > 0:00:54and that milder air drifts its way

0:00:54 > 0:00:55a little bit further eastwards

0:00:55 > 0:00:57through the evening with a lot of cloud.

0:00:57 > 0:00:58A few breaks here and there.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00Where you get the breaks in the north-east,

0:01:00 > 0:01:02it will turn a little chilly, maybe a touch of frost.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04I suspect most of us will be frost-free

0:01:04 > 0:01:06with a fairly extensive cloud cover.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08Thursday itself, well, we start quite cloudy

0:01:08 > 0:01:09and I think we're going to keep

0:01:09 > 0:01:11a lot of cloud through the day.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13Not a great deal of rain for the bulk of the day,

0:01:13 > 0:01:14but there will be some gathering

0:01:14 > 0:01:16just ahead of this weather system

0:01:16 > 0:01:17mainly up towards the north and west.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20There'll be some low cloud as well

0:01:20 > 0:01:21in the north-west, some mist

0:01:21 > 0:01:23and fog around the coasts and up over the hills

0:01:23 > 0:01:24and some of that may extend

0:01:24 > 0:01:26further south as well.

0:01:26 > 0:01:27Rain gathers in the north-west later on.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29Through the Midlands, eastern England,

0:01:29 > 0:01:31staying largely dry and those temperatures

0:01:31 > 0:01:33actually coming up a little bit,

0:01:33 > 0:01:34up into double figures for many of us,

0:01:34 > 0:01:36but some parts of eastern England

0:01:36 > 0:01:37and eastern Scotland

0:01:37 > 0:01:38staying in single figures.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40Then Thursday night we see a bit more

0:01:40 > 0:01:42in the way of rain and a fairly brisk breeze

0:01:42 > 0:01:43across the north of the UK

0:01:43 > 0:01:44and then through Friday

0:01:44 > 0:01:46we're into this broad warm sector.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48A lot of isobars still on the charts

0:01:48 > 0:01:49so it's still windy,

0:01:49 > 0:01:51but it's from the south-west so it's quite mild,

0:01:51 > 0:01:5211, 12 degrees quite widely,

0:01:52 > 0:01:54but we have got this cold front

0:01:54 > 0:01:55slipping its way south,

0:01:55 > 0:01:56quite a squally band of rain

0:01:56 > 0:01:58and behind that, it turns quite cold

0:01:58 > 0:01:59quite quickly Friday night

0:01:59 > 0:02:01and that colder air across Scotland

0:02:01 > 0:02:03into the small hours of Saturday

0:02:03 > 0:02:05could well see some snow showers

0:02:05 > 0:02:07and then on into Saturday itself.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10We start quite cold across the board and windy too

0:02:10 > 0:02:12and then we see this next weather system

0:02:12 > 0:02:13coming in for Saturday.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15It will be a wet and windy afternoon,

0:02:15 > 0:02:16maybe some snow for a time

0:02:16 > 0:02:18over the hills of Scotland.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20That rain will work its way from west to east.

0:02:20 > 0:02:21We'll all see some rain,

0:02:21 > 0:02:23some of it could be on the heavy side,

0:02:23 > 0:02:24particularly out towards the west

0:02:24 > 0:02:26and those temperatures coming down again,

0:02:26 > 0:02:28six and seven for many

0:02:28 > 0:02:30so quite a chilly feel in the wind and rain.

0:02:30 > 0:02:31Now as we get on into Sunday,

0:02:31 > 0:02:33a weak cold front brings some cloud

0:02:33 > 0:02:36and outbreaks of rain, still quite breezy

0:02:36 > 0:02:37from the north and west,

0:02:37 > 0:02:40so temperatures down in single figures for many of us,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42might just about hang onto doubles

0:02:42 > 0:02:43the further south you happen to be.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45There's likely to be a fair bit of cloud.

0:02:45 > 0:02:46Some breaks in that cloud

0:02:46 > 0:02:48to the east of the Pennines,

0:02:48 > 0:02:50but it looks pretty changeable over the next few days.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53It looks changeable into early next week as well,

0:02:53 > 0:02:55a strong jet stream developing across the North Atlantic.

0:02:55 > 0:02:58At its core, the strength of the wind up to about

0:02:58 > 0:03:00185 miles an hour or so,

0:03:00 > 0:03:03but that has implications for the timings of these weather system,

0:03:03 > 0:03:06cos if it speeds up a little bit or slows down a little bit

0:03:06 > 0:03:10then it could change the forecast by several hours either way,

0:03:10 > 0:03:12but it does look as if it will be very unsettled into next week.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14It's not all doom and gloom

0:03:14 > 0:03:16cos there will be some drier and brighter interludes

0:03:16 > 0:03:18and if you get the clearer skies at night,

0:03:18 > 0:03:20there might well be some frost,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22but when those weather systems come through,

0:03:22 > 0:03:25it'll be cloudy, it'll be wet and it'll be windy,

0:03:25 > 0:03:27always the wettest and windiest weather

0:03:27 > 0:03:29in the north and west of the UK.

0:03:31 > 0:03:31You know what they say.

0:03:31 > 0:03:33Starts off quiet -

0:03:33 > 0:03:35ends with a riot! ..with a riot, yeah.

0:03:35 > 0:03:36Hopefully.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39You have a duty of care not only to members of the public,

0:03:39 > 0:03:41but also to your colleagues,

0:03:41 > 0:03:43some of whom are young and inexperienced enough

0:03:43 > 0:03:45to actually trust you.

0:03:45 > 0:03:47All the pressures of the Force...
