0:00:04 > 0:00:06Hello. After a largely dry and very mild day on Thursday,
0:00:06 > 0:00:08as we head towards the end of this working week,
0:00:08 > 0:00:11things are turning colder with the arrival of plenty of rain.
0:00:11 > 0:00:14We've got an active cold front on Friday, initially across
0:00:14 > 0:00:17Northern Ireland and Scotland with some squally winds and heavy rain.
0:00:17 > 0:00:21That will edge its way southwards and eastwards as we head through the day.
0:00:21 > 0:00:24Towards the south and east of the country we'll stick with
0:00:24 > 0:00:29the mild and mainly dry theme, but if we look around the country,
0:00:29 > 0:00:32and squally winds across parts of the south-west of England and Wales.
0:00:32 > 0:00:34Through the Midlands, into eastern parts of England,
0:00:34 > 0:00:38there could be some brightness around and temperatures up to 12 degrees,
0:00:38 > 0:00:41relatively mild, but Northern England, that's where we'll see
0:00:41 > 0:00:43heavy outbreaks of rain, some squally winds too.
0:00:43 > 0:00:46For Northern Ireland and Scotland, after the morning's rain,
0:00:46 > 0:00:49by the afternoon things will brighten up, some showers around
0:00:49 > 0:00:50and some of those showers pretty wintry
0:00:50 > 0:00:52across parts of Scotland in particular
0:00:52 > 0:00:56and it is turning much colder behind that active cold front.
0:00:56 > 0:00:57That pushes out of the way,
0:00:57 > 0:01:00so the rain and wind pushing out of eastern parts of England
0:01:00 > 0:01:03through the early hours of Saturday, then we're looking at drier
0:01:03 > 0:01:06and clearer conditions, but wintry showers across Scotland,
0:01:06 > 0:01:09down to lower levels as we head through the early hours of Saturday.
0:01:09 > 0:01:12So, things are looking pretty unsettled through the weekend
0:01:12 > 0:01:14and that's because we have a strong jet stream,
0:01:14 > 0:01:18the winds at upper levels pushing west to east across the Atlantic,
0:01:18 > 0:01:21so a fairly straight line, the jet stream at the moment,
0:01:21 > 0:01:24and that will drive successive weather fronts across the country,
0:01:24 > 0:01:27so tight isobars as we move through into the first part of the weekend
0:01:27 > 0:01:29and the arrival of these frontal systems,
0:01:29 > 0:01:32so eastern areas on Saturday likely to start off dry,
0:01:32 > 0:01:36but rain and hill snow pushing across much of the country west to east
0:01:36 > 0:01:37as we head through the course of the day.
0:01:37 > 0:01:41It will be falling mainly as rain across the bulk of the country
0:01:41 > 0:01:43but the hills of Scotland seeing some significant snowfall.
0:01:43 > 0:01:46Temperature-wise, around about 5-10 Celsius
0:01:46 > 0:01:50but certainly feeling a bit colder than that in those strong winds.
0:01:50 > 0:01:51Into the second half of the weekend,
0:01:51 > 0:01:54the unsettled theme certainly sticking around -
0:01:54 > 0:01:56windy, as you can see, with tight isobars.
0:01:56 > 0:01:58The next area of low pressure approaches on Sunday
0:01:58 > 0:02:00but it's likely that will be further north,
0:02:00 > 0:02:03so it will be north-western parts of the country seeing the bulk
0:02:03 > 0:02:06of the wet weather during Sunday. Further south and east, a drier story
0:02:06 > 0:02:10and a little milder with temperatures up to around 13 degrees in London.
0:02:10 > 0:02:13Looking ahead, very strong winds for a time across parts of Scotland
0:02:13 > 0:02:16as that low pressure clears away towards the north and the east, then
0:02:16 > 0:02:19we have these trailing weather fronts heading back across the Atlantic,
0:02:19 > 0:02:22so through the day on Monday it looks like we'll have
0:02:22 > 0:02:25a spell of very heavy rain for a time through some central parts of the UK.
0:02:25 > 0:02:27To the south of that, things are looking mild,
0:02:27 > 0:02:30chillier air in charge further north.
0:02:30 > 0:02:33So, a similar story as we now move through Monday and into Tuesday,
0:02:33 > 0:02:36the next frontal system approaching from the Atlantic,
0:02:36 > 0:02:37a deepening area of low pressure here.
0:02:37 > 0:02:40To the north of that, with a ridge of high pressure,
0:02:40 > 0:02:42dry and chilly for the north of Scotland
0:02:42 > 0:02:44but this rain further south moving north through the day.
0:02:44 > 0:02:48There could be a period of hill snow again through the course of Tuesday
0:02:48 > 0:02:50but milder conditions pushing in from the south-west.
0:02:50 > 0:02:52Then as we head through early December,
0:02:52 > 0:02:54so the middle to the end of next week,
0:02:54 > 0:02:57it looks like we'll start to see the jet stream becoming more buckled,
0:02:57 > 0:03:00and as it buckles it will lose a little bit of its intensity
0:03:00 > 0:03:04and speed, so things will look less unsettled, I think,
0:03:04 > 0:03:05as we head through early December.
0:03:05 > 0:03:08Still some low pressure around, mainly to the north of the UK,
0:03:08 > 0:03:12but a hint now that we will start to see high pressure just nudging in
0:03:12 > 0:03:16from the south to take charge of our weather for some southern parts
0:03:16 > 0:03:18as we head through the first part of December.
0:03:18 > 0:03:20So still some spells of rain and breezy conditions,
0:03:20 > 0:03:23particularly towards the north-west of the country.
0:03:23 > 0:03:25It does look like some drier conditions are likely
0:03:25 > 0:03:28towards the south and east with a chance of some patchy frost.
0:03:28 > 0:03:31Lots happening. Keep tuned to your latest forecast. Bye-bye.
0:03:33 > 0:03:36# I put a spell on you
0:03:39 > 0:03:43# Cos you're mine
