0:00:03 > 0:00:05Tuesday is, of course, the first of December

0:00:05 > 0:00:07which makes it the first day of meteorological winter.

0:00:07 > 0:00:10And for some of us, there's wintry weather to be had.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13Some very cold air overnight across the north-east of England, Scotland.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15See some rain running into that -

0:00:15 > 0:00:17it's going to turn to snow for a time,

0:00:17 > 0:00:20but with this mild south-westerly breeze, eventually,

0:00:20 > 0:00:23that snow turns back to rain into the afternoon.

0:00:23 > 0:00:24So it's quite wet into the afternoon

0:00:24 > 0:00:26for the north and the west of Scotland.

0:00:26 > 0:00:28Quite grey as well - some low cloud sitting over the hills -

0:00:28 > 0:00:31but after a very cold start, temperatures in Glasgow

0:00:31 > 0:00:33get up to 10 or 11 degrees into the afternoon.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35A lot of cloud across northern England, not much rain,

0:00:35 > 0:00:37but there will be some up over the Pennines.

0:00:37 > 0:00:4011, 12 degrees. Might get 12 or 13 across the south-east.

0:00:40 > 0:00:41Yes, a fair bit of cloud.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43Maybe a few breaks here and there, but a lot of cloud.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45Maybe a spot or two of drizzle along the south coast

0:00:45 > 0:00:47where it will be quite breezy.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49Maybe a little bit of drizzle down towards the south and west,

0:00:49 > 0:00:53but apart from that, it is cloudy and breezy and mild -

0:00:53 > 0:00:5412 or 13 degrees again.

0:00:54 > 0:00:58And breezy too across Wales with some rain up over the higher ground.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01Round the coast, mostly dry, but quite breezy.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04And it's breezy too into Northern Ireland, but mild.

0:01:04 > 0:01:0712 or 13 degrees with a little bit of rain.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10Now, through the evening, we keep that south-westerly breeze

0:01:10 > 0:01:12across all parts of the UK, so it's going to be a mild night

0:01:12 > 0:01:14across the board by dawn on Wednesday.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16Most places hanging on to double figures,

0:01:16 > 0:01:19even fives and sixes across the far north of Scotland.

0:01:19 > 0:01:22We do have a weather front in the north and west on Wednesday

0:01:22 > 0:01:24and that will be drifting its way southwards

0:01:24 > 0:01:25and eastwards through the day.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28Lots of isobars on the charts so it is going to be breezy

0:01:28 > 0:01:30both ahead of and behind this weather front.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32Behind that weather front, more of a north-westerly breeze,

0:01:32 > 0:01:35so temperatures will be dipping away as that rain moves away

0:01:35 > 0:01:36towards the south of Scotland,

0:01:36 > 0:01:39into northern England and parts of Wales for the afternoon.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41The further south and east you are, it should stay dry,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43fairly cloudy, but with that southerly breeze,

0:01:43 > 0:01:45it's going to be another mild one.

0:01:45 > 0:01:48It's 13 or so degrees quite widely across the south of the UK.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51Into single figures towards the north and west of our weather front,

0:01:51 > 0:01:53but at least there'll be a bit of sunshine here,

0:01:53 > 0:01:55but still a few showers moving through on the breeze.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58And then we look towards the south for further rainfall

0:01:58 > 0:02:01on Thursday as this next area of low pressure comes our way

0:02:01 > 0:02:05and there will still be a bit of a breeze from the south with that.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07It will be technically mild, 12 or 13 degrees,

0:02:07 > 0:02:10but you have to factor in the wind and the rain.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12Towards the north and west, again, some brighter spells

0:02:12 > 0:02:15and those temperatures back to a bit lower, fives and sixes for many.

0:02:15 > 0:02:17But then on towards the rest of the week.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19Underneath this temporary ridge of high pressure,

0:02:19 > 0:02:22some southern and eastern areas are having a decent start to the day.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24Some sunshine and not too windy by this stage.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27More of a breeze out towards the west where there's a bit more cloud.

0:02:27 > 0:02:30Notice, though, the rain is confined to the far north

0:02:30 > 0:02:31and west through the day on Friday.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34That'll be accompanied by some strong winds which get even

0:02:34 > 0:02:36stronger overnight Friday into Saturday.

0:02:36 > 0:02:37Loads of isobars on the charts.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39Really very windy conditions across all parts

0:02:39 > 0:02:42of the United Kingdom with a band of quite squally rain

0:02:42 > 0:02:44making its way south during the day on Saturday.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47Still mild towards the south and the east, but again,

0:02:47 > 0:02:50single figures across the north and west and I think rain will

0:02:50 > 0:02:53spread to many of us as were get on towards the latter part of the day.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55Then for the second part of the weekend -

0:02:55 > 0:02:56well, the set-up remains the same.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59High across the south of Europe. Low towards Iceland.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01The resultant winds are south-westerly, so for the most

0:03:01 > 0:03:05part it is still relatively mild for the second part of the weekend,

0:03:05 > 0:03:07however, a subtle change in the early part of next week sees the high

0:03:07 > 0:03:11drifting a bit further westwards, allowing a westerly wind to develop,

0:03:11 > 0:03:14so temperatures might come down by a little bit,

0:03:14 > 0:03:16but overall, it does remain very unsettled.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19Further areas of low pressure coming in from the Atlantic, so, yes,

0:03:19 > 0:03:20it does look unsettled.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22It's going to be windy, or even very windy for some of us

0:03:22 > 0:03:25and there'll be some rain at times. Some of that can be quite heavy.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27And with a mixture of rain and drier interludes,

0:03:27 > 0:03:30there'll be quite a range of temperatures across the UK.
