0:00:03 > 0:00:04Hello there.

0:00:04 > 0:00:07Heavy rain, snow, ice, gales were all in the forecast on Thursday.

0:00:07 > 0:00:10For Friday, some respite from the rain

0:00:10 > 0:00:11for parts of England and Wales,

0:00:11 > 0:00:14particularly the Midlands, northern England

0:00:14 > 0:00:16and North Wales, but later in the day,

0:00:16 > 0:00:18we've got our next deep Atlantic low

0:00:18 > 0:00:19rushing towards the north-west of the UK

0:00:19 > 0:00:21and those tightly-packed isobars

0:00:21 > 0:00:23mean that we are in for another spell

0:00:23 > 0:00:25of gale-force winds, if not severe gale-force winds.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27But as I mentioned, for many, it'll be dry and bright.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29A little bit icy across Scotland to start

0:00:29 > 0:00:31and here, as the day wears on,

0:00:31 > 0:00:33we get the rain back but for many of us,

0:00:33 > 0:00:34it is a drier picture.

0:00:34 > 0:00:36It's mild as well and, of course,

0:00:36 > 0:00:38that, for Scotland, means that the snow thaw

0:00:38 > 0:00:40will continue so we've got the snow

0:00:40 > 0:00:42and the rain falling into those river catchments.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44So, again, there's a risk of flooding.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46And some pretty lively winds

0:00:46 > 0:00:47come the evening rush hour,

0:00:47 > 0:00:49I think it'll be quite nasty on the roads.

0:00:49 > 0:00:5160-70mph gusts of wind, possibly even more,

0:00:51 > 0:00:55so there is the likelihood of some travel disruption on Friday evening,

0:00:55 > 0:00:58across Scotland in particular, parts of Northern Ireland.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00It's the combination of the rain and gales as well

0:01:00 > 0:01:01which will make it pretty miserable.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04And then through Friday evening and overnight,

0:01:04 > 0:01:05that rain just keeps coming down

0:01:05 > 0:01:07into already-saturated grounds and catchments

0:01:07 > 0:01:10and slowly eases into northern England

0:01:10 > 0:01:12and North Wales as we approach Saturday morning

0:01:12 > 0:01:13so, unfortunately, it's more of the same.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15It's mild at least but rather grey

0:01:15 > 0:01:18in the south despite staying largely dry here.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21However, we are concerned that the same sort

0:01:21 > 0:01:23of areas where we've had flooding recently

0:01:23 > 0:01:24will be prone to some very wet weather

0:01:24 > 0:01:27this weekend with another area of low pressure

0:01:27 > 0:01:29developing along that weather front

0:01:29 > 0:01:31for Saturday night into Sunday.

0:01:31 > 0:01:33So, we could have a steady 36 hours of rain,

0:01:33 > 0:01:35potentially, for some parts of Northern Ireland,

0:01:35 > 0:01:38Scotland, North Wales and northern England.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40Those winds really whipping up as well

0:01:40 > 0:01:42further south on Saturday so gale-force

0:01:42 > 0:01:44or severe gale-force winds across many areas

0:01:44 > 0:01:46so it's not going to feel particularly nice

0:01:46 > 0:01:48considering temperatures will be above average

0:01:48 > 0:01:50and particularly with the rain.

0:01:50 > 0:01:51Then through Saturday night,

0:01:51 > 0:01:54there could be a spell of snow across the far north again.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56Eventually, it looks like that weather front

0:01:56 > 0:01:57will slip southwards on Sunday.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00It never goes very far away but it does tend to weaken,

0:02:00 > 0:02:03the winds eventually easing a little bit

0:02:03 > 0:02:05but not altogether but they do at least then allow us

0:02:05 > 0:02:07a drier, slightly calmer day in the north.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09But, look, that weather front's still with us

0:02:09 > 0:02:11and you think you've seen enough of it

0:02:11 > 0:02:12over the weekend but, unfortunately,

0:02:12 > 0:02:14it looks set to come back again into the start

0:02:14 > 0:02:15of the new week

0:02:15 > 0:02:17so, yes, unfortunately, yet more rain to come.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19Similar areas, it's still mild in the south

0:02:19 > 0:02:22but there could be some snow for a time in the north

0:02:22 > 0:02:24and again, a spell of fairly windy weather.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26It doesn't look as windy as the weekend but nevertheless

0:02:26 > 0:02:28the wind and the rain making for

0:02:28 > 0:02:29a fairly miserable start to the week.

0:02:29 > 0:02:30And you can see those

0:02:30 > 0:02:32tightly-packed isobars in the north -

0:02:32 > 0:02:34they're not too far away from our shores.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36And we've still got that weather front

0:02:36 > 0:02:38wiggling around across the UK on Tuesday

0:02:38 > 0:02:40but after that, hopefully, just a sign

0:02:40 > 0:02:43that things might quieten down just for a day or so.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46But Tuesday, again, looks pretty unsettled.

0:02:46 > 0:02:47Slightly chillier in the north

0:02:47 > 0:02:49with a few wintry showers

0:02:49 > 0:02:51falling to the hills of Scotland.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53But as I mentioned, a little further ahead again,

0:02:53 > 0:02:55we could have this brief ridge of high pressure.

0:02:55 > 0:02:56Now, as it does,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59it allows a slightly different wind direction across the UK.

0:02:59 > 0:03:03Still those weather fronts close by but then that high,

0:03:03 > 0:03:06if it does start to topple in across the UK,

0:03:06 > 0:03:08it'll switch our wind direction more to a north-westerly

0:03:08 > 0:03:11so that will allow this colder air to come around that high pressure,

0:03:11 > 0:03:14pushing the milder air away for a while which means it'll be

0:03:14 > 0:03:16chillier at least for a time.

0:03:16 > 0:03:17But on the whole, even though

0:03:17 > 0:03:20we're expecting that slightly quieter spell of weather,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22lighter winds and feeling colder,

0:03:22 > 0:03:25we then revert back to more unsettled weather towards the end of the week.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27And between now and then,

0:03:27 > 0:03:28lots to talk about,

0:03:28 > 0:03:30the weather warnings

0:03:30 > 0:03:31are on the website.
