0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello. The six to ten day forecast

0:00:05 > 0:00:07shows no sign of any settled significant dry weather,

0:00:07 > 0:00:11but there will be some dry interludes in between the rain.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14Now Tuesday saw a day of sunny spells and scattered showers,

0:00:14 > 0:00:17some of the showers heavy with hail and thunder,

0:00:17 > 0:00:20but there were also some rainbows to be found as well.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22I suspect during Wednesday, the weather story will be

0:00:22 > 0:00:25the strength of the wind, with gales returning.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28Severe gales expected, up into the far north and west

0:00:28 > 0:00:31and here is where we're likely to see the significant rainfall.

0:00:31 > 0:00:35So gusts of wind in excess of 70mph not out of the question

0:00:35 > 0:00:37to the extreme north-west.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40A drier interlude across the north of England,

0:00:40 > 0:00:42particularly close to the Lake District.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45Still some strong winds on exposed west-facing coasts of Wales

0:00:45 > 0:00:46and a little more cloud here,

0:00:46 > 0:00:52and even further inland, we could see gusts of winds over 30-35mph.

0:00:52 > 0:00:54But there will be some sunny spells in there,

0:00:54 > 0:00:56but add on the strength of the wind,

0:00:56 > 0:00:58the temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees

0:00:58 > 0:01:00will feel just that little bit cooler.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02As we move out of Wednesday,

0:01:02 > 0:01:05that wet and windy weather pushes its way south and east.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08It's going to be a slow-moving frontal system,

0:01:08 > 0:01:10but it looks as though the heaviest of the rain is likely

0:01:10 > 0:01:12to be across Wales and the south-west of England.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15Somewhat cooler, showery conditions following on behind

0:01:15 > 0:01:17and still the winds very much a feature

0:01:17 > 0:01:19into the far north of the country.

0:01:19 > 0:01:22So we've got that frontal system to clear.

0:01:22 > 0:01:23It is weakening all the time,

0:01:23 > 0:01:27but it's going to be a pretty slow process for the start of Thursday.

0:01:27 > 0:01:31Rather grey, wet and still pretty windy conditions easing away

0:01:31 > 0:01:34to cooler showery conditions and, yes, we could see some sleet

0:01:34 > 0:01:38and snow to the tops of higher ground in the far north of Scotland.

0:01:38 > 0:01:42Here, 5 or 6 degrees, keeping those double figures down to the south.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44That weather front does ease away,

0:01:44 > 0:01:46but it's a little bit like a skipping rope,

0:01:46 > 0:01:48meandering in the Channel coasts,

0:01:48 > 0:01:51so we could see a little more in the way of cloud

0:01:51 > 0:01:55and outbreaks of light rain just threatening the far south on Friday

0:01:55 > 0:01:57and here we keep that milder air.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00To the north, again those temperatures struggling.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03It will be breezy and any showers to the higher ground

0:02:03 > 0:02:04will keep that wintry flavour.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06As we move towards the weekend, this area

0:02:06 > 0:02:10of low pressure is really going to cause concern in terms

0:02:10 > 0:02:13of its location over the course of the weekend.

0:02:13 > 0:02:14At the moment, on Saturday,

0:02:14 > 0:02:16it looks likely to stay down to the south,

0:02:16 > 0:02:20but this is subject to change which means that predominantly,

0:02:20 > 0:02:24we could see some dry, sunny weather further north but still rather cool.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26The low may well just drift that way steadily

0:02:26 > 0:02:29north during the second half of the weekend.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32The isobars swing round to more of a southerly,

0:02:32 > 0:02:33going in a vertical direction.

0:02:33 > 0:02:37So that's going to drag in this milder air across the country,

0:02:37 > 0:02:41pushing the cold air further north so we will start to notice

0:02:41 > 0:02:43a difference to the feel of the weather

0:02:43 > 0:02:45as we push out of Sunday into Monday.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48But on the leading edge, there could be for a time some snow

0:02:48 > 0:02:51to higher ground before that milder air kicks in.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54Drier and brighter, with double figures down to the south.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56Now, as well move into the six to ten day period,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59that area of low pressure has to clear away.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02The jet stream is meandering, it's weakening significantly,

0:03:02 > 0:03:06but if that happens, it could just drive in this high pressure to the

0:03:06 > 0:03:10south and that means that we could see some decent dry, bright weather,

0:03:10 > 0:03:12with always the wettest

0:03:12 > 0:03:15and the windiest of the weather likely the further north and west.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18Towards the end of the six to ten day period, though,

0:03:18 > 0:03:20the jet stream is likely to strengthen

0:03:20 > 0:03:22and move back to a westerly, so unfortunately,

0:03:22 > 0:03:25that's going to drive in more areas of low pressure and again,

0:03:25 > 0:03:29we see a return to some wet and windy weather.

0:03:29 > 0:03:30No settled story in sight.

0:03:33 > 0:03:35What do we do with something like this?

0:03:37 > 0:03:38Find our man.
