0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello. With a weaker jet stream across the North Atlantic,

0:00:05 > 0:00:08a slightly quieter week of weather as far as heavy rainfall is concerned,

0:00:08 > 0:00:10but we certainly saw some very wet conditions on Saturday.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13Also a spell of snow as cold air surged its way southwards,

0:00:13 > 0:00:16but through Sunday, the fight back of the mild air continues,

0:00:16 > 0:00:19pushing its way northwards throughout the day.

0:00:19 > 0:00:20That mild air starts across the south,

0:00:20 > 0:00:22with some patchy rain or drizzle

0:00:22 > 0:00:24and this is the dividing line once again.

0:00:24 > 0:00:26The same weather front which was with us yesterday

0:00:26 > 0:00:27pushes its way northwards.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30It's less of a ferocious feature than some of you experienced.

0:00:30 > 0:00:31Heaviest bursts of rain -

0:00:31 > 0:00:33probably Northern Ireland during the afternoon.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35Patchy rain or drizzle towards the south,

0:00:35 > 0:00:36the odd glimmer of brightness,

0:00:36 > 0:00:38a little bit of sunshine here and there,

0:00:38 > 0:00:40but essentially a fairly cloudy day once again

0:00:40 > 0:00:42with temperatures up to around 12 or 13 Celsius.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44Only slowly lifting the temperatures further north

0:00:44 > 0:00:45after a very chilly start.

0:00:45 > 0:00:48Only around five-six degrees through the Midlands,

0:00:48 > 0:00:49parts of northern England.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52We see the rain return to north-west England by three o'clock.

0:00:52 > 0:00:53The rest of northern England largely dry.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55Wetter conditions for Northern Ireland.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58Sunniest weather throughout parts of Scotland after a frosty

0:00:58 > 0:00:59and in places icy start,

0:00:59 > 0:01:01but temperatures not getting a huge deal above freezing

0:01:01 > 0:01:03throughout the day and that will have an impact,

0:01:03 > 0:01:06because as our weather front pushes its way north,

0:01:06 > 0:01:09it runs into that colder air, turns to sleet and snow,

0:01:09 > 0:01:12initially over hills, but into lower levels across the northern half

0:01:12 > 0:01:14of Scotland as we go through the night and into Monday morning,

0:01:14 > 0:01:17but it does mean the rest of the UK back in the milder air,

0:01:17 > 0:01:18lots of cloud around,

0:01:18 > 0:01:21temperatures probably lowest during the first part

0:01:21 > 0:01:23of the night in Glasgow, Newcastle, before rising later.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25Again, double figure temperatures for many

0:01:25 > 0:01:28across the far south into Monday morning.

0:01:28 > 0:01:29This is the chart for Monday.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31Low pressure stalled to the west of the UK,

0:01:31 > 0:01:33not a strong enough jet stream to push it through.

0:01:33 > 0:01:38It does mean we're with south to even south-easterly winds across the UK.

0:01:38 > 0:01:39The weather front across Scotland,

0:01:39 > 0:01:42with the snow mixed in with the rain initially, gradually fizzles out.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44We see gentle breeze initially,

0:01:44 > 0:01:47slightly stronger winds towards south-western Wales later

0:01:47 > 0:01:50and some heavy bursts of rain to finish the day,

0:01:50 > 0:01:52but crucially, parts of North Wales, north-west England,

0:01:52 > 0:01:54you definitely need a dry day.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56There'll only be a few spots of rain or drizzle.

0:01:56 > 0:01:59Temperatures around seven to 11 degrees,

0:01:59 > 0:02:02so not excessively mild across Scotland quite yet.

0:02:02 > 0:02:06That low pressure system just fizzles out in situ as we go into Tuesday.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08It brings a bit of rain across parts

0:02:08 > 0:02:09of England and Wales overnight,

0:02:09 > 0:02:12pushes its way off into the North Sea and then some more heavy rain

0:02:12 > 0:02:14towards the Isles of Scilly and Cornwall later on.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17Further north, temperatures around seven to nine degrees.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20Best of the sunshine - Cumbria and into the north-west of Scotland

0:02:20 > 0:02:21where some of the driest weather will be

0:02:21 > 0:02:23for the first half of the week.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25Even these weather fronts pushed away northwards.

0:02:25 > 0:02:26Because it's southerly wind,

0:02:26 > 0:02:28they won't be particularly active.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30They'll bring a bit of rain or drizzle here and there,

0:02:30 > 0:02:33but some of those flood-affected areas will probably see

0:02:33 > 0:02:34some of the drier of the conditions.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37Temperatures by this stage - even the west of Scotland could be

0:02:37 > 0:02:40into double figures, above where they should be for the time of year.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42Wednesday night into Thursday,

0:02:42 > 0:02:43the jet stream starts to pick up a little bit.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46Pushes a weather front across the UK fairly slowly,

0:02:46 > 0:02:48some bursts of rain, some heavy bursts at that.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51That could affect parts of north-west England and North Wales.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53Sunniest towards the south and east.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55Sunshine later on in the north and west,

0:02:55 > 0:02:58but temperatures will dip away into the second half of the day.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00It brings a time for the end of the week

0:03:00 > 0:03:02in which the jet stream pushes back into life.

0:03:02 > 0:03:05It strengthens once again, flattens out after being a fairly weak,

0:03:05 > 0:03:08meandering jet stream through much of this week

0:03:08 > 0:03:10and that is what will then start to bring

0:03:10 > 0:03:13a change to those wetter, windier weather conditions.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15Again, those westerly to south-westerly winds.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17Some further spells of rain across the UK,

0:03:17 > 0:03:19it's going to be quite windy once again at times.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21Generally temperatures still above where they should be,

0:03:21 > 0:03:24but because we've got the same sort of conditions

0:03:24 > 0:03:25as we have at the moment,

0:03:25 > 0:03:28expect those briefer, colder interludes every now and again too.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30I'll update you same time tomorrow.

0:03:31 > 0:03:33IT'S CHRISTMA-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-AS!

0:03:33 > 0:03:36Will this Christmas be one to remember...

0:03:36 > 0:03:38Your birth mum - if someone said, "I can track her down,"

0:03:38 > 0:03:39would you want them to?

0:03:39 > 0:03:41..or forget?

0:03:41 > 0:03:42One thing's for sure -

0:03:42 > 0:03:44things will never be the same again.

0:03:44 > 0:03:46You OK, son?

0:03:46 > 0:03:47This was a mistake.
