0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. Overall the weather patterns remain pretty stuck, which means

0:00:06 > 0:00:09we can expect further problems from the weather over the next few days.

0:00:09 > 0:00:11All the problems during Boxing Day

0:00:11 > 0:00:12are caused by this area of low pressure

0:00:12 > 0:00:14and particularly this slow-moving weather front.

0:00:14 > 0:00:18It is trickling its way southwards at the moment,

0:00:18 > 0:00:20and the rain is really weakening on it as well,

0:00:20 > 0:00:22it'll bring a damp start across southern parts

0:00:22 > 0:00:24of England and Wales on Sunday.

0:00:24 > 0:00:25It will then move back further north,

0:00:25 > 0:00:27but it's a very much weaker feature

0:00:27 > 0:00:29by the time it gets back into the flooded areas

0:00:29 > 0:00:31across northern England and north Wales.

0:00:31 > 0:00:35Nevertheless it will bring some light rain on Sunday.

0:00:35 > 0:00:37Further north from that, generally dry

0:00:37 > 0:00:39and chilly, temperatures in single figures.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41Further south, well,

0:00:41 > 0:00:43it's still very, very mild indeed.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45And that weather front is out

0:00:45 > 0:00:47of the way by the time

0:00:47 > 0:00:49we get to Sunday night and into Monday.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51Follow the isobars pointing down into Iberia,

0:00:51 > 0:00:52so our air is again

0:00:52 > 0:00:54coming right up from the south.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56Quite a mild day on Monday,

0:00:56 > 0:00:59that mild air coming up from Iberia,

0:00:59 > 0:01:00across France as well.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02And generally, it's looking like

0:01:02 > 0:01:03a drier day on Monday,

0:01:03 > 0:01:06and temperatures will be well above average.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08The mild air pushing back across Scotland,

0:01:08 > 0:01:10so a much warmer day here.

0:01:10 > 0:01:11Generally dry and sunny

0:01:11 > 0:01:12across central and eastern areas.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14Further west though, we will start to see

0:01:14 > 0:01:16a weather front approaching, the winds picking up too,

0:01:16 > 0:01:18and we could see some rain

0:01:18 > 0:01:20into west Wales, south-west England

0:01:20 > 0:01:21and especially Northern Ireland

0:01:21 > 0:01:23by the end of the day.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25Again, temperatures well above average,

0:01:25 > 0:01:2613, 14, 15 degrees,

0:01:26 > 0:01:27and after a chillier feel

0:01:27 > 0:01:30on Sunday across Scotland and northern England,

0:01:30 > 0:01:32we're back in double figures here.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35However, after a really mild Monday we are again

0:01:35 > 0:01:38focusing on the rain for much of the rest of the week.

0:01:38 > 0:01:39Well out in the Atlantic,

0:01:39 > 0:01:41this mass of blue is a mass of rain,

0:01:41 > 0:01:42it's an area of low pressure,

0:01:42 > 0:01:44and just watch how it develops.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46During Monday and into Tuesday,

0:01:46 > 0:01:48the isobars really spewing out of it,

0:01:48 > 0:01:51it's intensifying as it approaches the UK.

0:01:51 > 0:01:52The low itself probably

0:01:52 > 0:01:53going to the north of the UK,

0:01:53 > 0:01:56but this will firstly move some weather fronts

0:01:56 > 0:01:57across the UK on Tuesday

0:01:57 > 0:01:59and then potentially bring a spell

0:01:59 > 0:02:00of very windy weather and more rain

0:02:00 > 0:02:02later on Tuesday and Wednesday.

0:02:02 > 0:02:04Apart from a few showers though,

0:02:04 > 0:02:06much of Tuesday dry and fine,

0:02:06 > 0:02:07it's in the west where we

0:02:07 > 0:02:08start to see that weather system

0:02:08 > 0:02:10arriving, the winds really getting

0:02:10 > 0:02:12stronger and stronger. The winds probably

0:02:12 > 0:02:13the biggest issue later on Tuesday,

0:02:13 > 0:02:15but then the rain arrives too,

0:02:15 > 0:02:17pulses of rain for Northern Ireland, Scotland,

0:02:17 > 0:02:18potentially parts of

0:02:18 > 0:02:20northwest England and Wales also.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22So that is one of the greatest causes

0:02:22 > 0:02:23for concern around the middle of the week,

0:02:23 > 0:02:26heavy rain during the course of Wednesday,

0:02:26 > 0:02:28some bright colours there,

0:02:28 > 0:02:30it could be very wet indeed and also very windy.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32But again, the winds coming up from the south

0:02:32 > 0:02:37still bringing mild air, 11 to 13 degrees Celsius.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39As we go into New Year's Eve, that weather front

0:02:39 > 0:02:41should start to move through, but it's

0:02:41 > 0:02:43only replaced by more of them.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45These ones at the moment don't look too intense,

0:02:45 > 0:02:48but there are developing areas of low pressure

0:02:48 > 0:02:50getting picked up by the jet stream,

0:02:50 > 0:02:52that fast-moving ribbon of air

0:02:52 > 0:02:54high up which is still very, very active.

0:02:54 > 0:02:55So on New Year's Eve we'll see

0:02:55 > 0:02:56spells of rain moving through,

0:02:56 > 0:02:58one potentially clearing

0:02:58 > 0:02:59from the east before another one

0:02:59 > 0:03:00arrives in the west, and again,

0:03:00 > 0:03:02the winds likely to be a feature.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04Potentially turns a little colder

0:03:04 > 0:03:05behind that cold front,

0:03:05 > 0:03:08and temperatures turning into single figures,

0:03:08 > 0:03:11but closer to average after the very mild weather of late.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14And that mild theme continues into New Year's Day and beyond.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16Often very blustery with a strong jet stream,

0:03:16 > 0:03:17there will be further spells of rain.

0:03:17 > 0:03:21Some computer models suggest it might turn a little colder

0:03:21 > 0:03:23during the first week of 2016,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25but that is just some computer models,

0:03:25 > 0:03:29most suggest it will be mild and potential for more warnings.

0:03:33 > 0:03:38I'm here surrounded by one of nature's greatest wonders,

0:03:38 > 0:03:43a living structure so enormous it can be seen from space.
