0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello. As 2015 draws to a close,
0:00:05 > 0:00:08the final month of the year will be remembered
0:00:08 > 0:00:12for the stormy weather we've seen across much of the country.
0:00:12 > 0:00:15Through the course of this week, things are looking very windy,
0:00:15 > 0:00:16quite mild still,
0:00:16 > 0:00:19but there'll be further heavy rain in the forecast
0:00:19 > 0:00:20in the middle part of the week.
0:00:20 > 0:00:22Before we get there,
0:00:22 > 0:00:23a bit of a quieter interlude
0:00:23 > 0:00:25during the course of Tuesday.
0:00:25 > 0:00:26You can see Storm Frank
0:00:26 > 0:00:28lingering out here in the Atlantic.
0:00:28 > 0:00:29That'll become more of a player
0:00:29 > 0:00:31in our weather as we head towards
0:00:31 > 0:00:32the middle of the week.
0:00:32 > 0:00:34The sixth named storm of the season.
0:00:34 > 0:00:36But during the day on Tuesday
0:00:36 > 0:00:37will be decent for many.
0:00:37 > 0:00:38Real respite.
0:00:38 > 0:00:39A lot of dry weather,
0:00:39 > 0:00:41the winds not as strong as they have been,
0:00:41 > 0:00:43and quite a good deal of sunshine on offer.
0:00:43 > 0:00:45Things will feel a bit fresher
0:00:45 > 0:00:46than recent days
0:00:46 > 0:00:48but still temperatures above average
0:00:48 > 0:00:49for the time of year.
0:00:49 > 0:00:51Between 9 to 10 in the north.
0:00:51 > 0:00:52We could see 11 to 13 further south.
0:00:52 > 0:00:54But winds picking up later in the day
0:00:54 > 0:00:55towards the west.
0:00:55 > 0:00:57Cloud building ahead of the next storm,
0:00:57 > 0:00:59Storm Frank.
0:00:59 > 0:01:00The main centre of the storm
0:01:00 > 0:01:02pushes well north of the UK,
0:01:02 > 0:01:03but it's this trailing weather front
0:01:03 > 0:01:05that's going to be a troublemaker.
0:01:05 > 0:01:06That's going to bring
0:01:06 > 0:01:08potentially some damaging winds
0:01:08 > 0:01:09as well as very heavy rain
0:01:09 > 0:01:11in areas that could really do
0:01:11 > 0:01:13without further rain.
0:01:13 > 0:01:1460-90mm of rain fairly widely
0:01:14 > 0:01:16across parts of northern England.
0:01:16 > 0:01:17It could be more than that
0:01:17 > 0:01:18on top of the highest hills.
0:01:18 > 0:01:19The weather front
0:01:19 > 0:01:21trailing through Scotland,
0:01:21 > 0:01:22northern England, Wales,
0:01:22 > 0:01:24towards the southwest of England too.
0:01:24 > 0:01:25The southeast of the weather front
0:01:25 > 0:01:27remaining predominately dry.
0:01:27 > 0:01:2813 degrees or so.
0:01:28 > 0:01:30Slightly fresher conditions
0:01:30 > 0:01:31towards the northwest.
0:01:31 > 0:01:32But the heavy rain
0:01:32 > 0:01:34could exacerbate the flooding situation
0:01:34 > 0:01:35across areas
0:01:35 > 0:01:37including Cumbria and Yorkshire too.
0:01:37 > 0:01:39Slowly, we'll start to lose the influence
0:01:39 > 0:01:40of this weather front
0:01:40 > 0:01:42as we head through Wednesday night
0:01:42 > 0:01:44into New Year's Eve on Thursday.
0:01:44 > 0:01:47New Year's Eve itself a slightly drier day.
0:01:47 > 0:01:48Winds coming in
0:01:48 > 0:01:50from a westerly direction.
0:01:50 > 0:01:52Sunny spells, scattered showers,
0:01:52 > 0:01:54some heavy in western areas,
0:01:54 > 0:01:55and temperatures down
0:01:55 > 0:01:57compared to recent days.
0:01:57 > 0:01:586 to 11 degrees.
0:01:58 > 0:02:00We could have a chilly evening
0:02:00 > 0:02:02if you're heading out on New Year's Eve,
0:02:02 > 0:02:04but it does look like most of the rain
0:02:04 > 0:02:05will clear away towards the east
0:02:05 > 0:02:07and the winds will feel lighter,
0:02:07 > 0:02:09so good news if you're off to see the fireworks
0:02:09 > 0:02:12on into the early hours of New Year's Day.
0:02:12 > 0:02:13After the very wet weather
0:02:13 > 0:02:15through the middle of the week,
0:02:15 > 0:02:16New Year's Day
0:02:16 > 0:02:17does look drier and quieter.
0:02:17 > 0:02:18The next band of rain
0:02:18 > 0:02:20pushing in from the west though,
0:02:20 > 0:02:21so we could see
0:02:21 > 0:02:23stormy conditions once again
0:02:23 > 0:02:25as we head into the first part of 2016.
0:02:25 > 0:02:28New Year's Day fairly dry and quiet,
0:02:28 > 0:02:30then this weather front pushes in
0:02:30 > 0:02:31from the Atlantic.
0:02:31 > 0:02:33Another spell of wet weather
0:02:33 > 0:02:35as we head into the weekend.
0:02:35 > 0:02:37For Saturday, it looks like further rain
0:02:37 > 0:02:38for some western areas.
0:02:38 > 0:02:40In the east,
0:02:40 > 0:02:42it's likely to stay dry and bright.
0:02:42 > 0:02:43Temperatures more typical
0:02:43 > 0:02:44for the time of year.
0:02:44 > 0:02:46Still a bit mild
0:02:46 > 0:02:48but not as mild as it has been.
0:02:48 > 0:02:49As we head through the course of next week,
0:02:49 > 0:02:51the most likely scenario is that
0:02:51 > 0:02:53we'll still have low pressure moving
0:02:53 > 0:02:54to the north and northwest of the UK,
0:02:54 > 0:02:56drawing in this fairly mild
0:02:56 > 0:02:57and often wet airflow
0:02:57 > 0:02:58from the Atlantic.
0:02:58 > 0:03:00A less likely scenario at this stage
0:03:00 > 0:03:02is that we could start to see
0:03:02 > 0:03:03high pressure becoming established
0:03:03 > 0:03:05around Scandinavia
0:03:05 > 0:03:08and that would allow a colder, drier and brighter flow of air
0:03:08 > 0:03:10to come in from the near continent.
0:03:10 > 0:03:12We'll keep you updated on that
0:03:12 > 0:03:14as we head through the next six to ten day period,
0:03:14 > 0:03:16but in general
0:03:16 > 0:03:17it looks like the weather
0:03:17 > 0:03:19is remaining pretty unsettled
0:03:19 > 0:03:20through the start of 2016.
0:03:20 > 0:03:22Spells of wind and rain likely.
0:03:22 > 0:03:24A chance that we could see
0:03:24 > 0:03:26that cooling trend though
0:03:26 > 0:03:27as we head through
0:03:27 > 0:03:28the first week of 2016.
0:03:28 > 0:03:31But over the next few days there'll be more stormy weather on the cards.
0:03:32 > 0:03:33I want futurism,
0:03:33 > 0:03:35but not yesterday's futurism.
0:03:35 > 0:03:38I want today's futurism for tomorrow.
0:03:38 > 0:03:40I want Hollywood glamour and feathers and sequins
0:03:40 > 0:03:42and glitter unicorns!
0:03:42 > 0:03:43But not too over the top, yeah?
