0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello there. The next ten days looks very unsettled, and the longer this

0:00:06 > 0:00:09rain goes on, the more we are likely to see some more flooding.

0:00:09 > 0:00:13The first area of concern continues to be some eastern areas of Scotland.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15We have this amber rain warning out from the Met Office.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18It continues through much of Monday,

0:00:18 > 0:00:21and it's steady rain that's going to potentially lead to some

0:00:21 > 0:00:25flooding here, another 100 millimetres or so, about four inches,

0:00:25 > 0:00:29because the winds are still piling in all this wet weather from the east.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31Western Scotland's very much drier,

0:00:31 > 0:00:34it's eastern Scotland seeing all the rain and potentially some

0:00:34 > 0:00:38battering waves as well along those coastal areas, too.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41Now, we're seeing all this wet weather at the moment because

0:00:41 > 0:00:44we've got a big area of low pressure centred very close to the UK.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47The fronts are stationary across eastern Scotland.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49The winds keep blowing the rain in here.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51There'll be some snow in the mountains.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54Elsewhere, a little bit brighter, some sunshine but also some showers.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56Those look like being heavy

0:00:56 > 0:00:59and potentially thundery across Wales and southern England.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01There could be a lot of water about on the roads, too,

0:01:01 > 0:01:04so some difficult travelling conditions.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06Temperatures Monday very similar to those of Sunday,

0:01:06 > 0:01:10another cold day under the wind and rain in eastern Scotland.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13And there's no let-up, really, as we head into Tuesday,

0:01:13 > 0:01:17because although the low-pressure centre is drifting further south,

0:01:17 > 0:01:20that weather front is stuck across Scotland.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23So, again, with the onshore winds, strong winds, we're going

0:01:23 > 0:01:26to find more rain and more mountain snow across eastern Scotland.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28Much drier in Western Scotland,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30drier across Cumbria as well as Northern Ireland.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32Scattered showers around,

0:01:32 > 0:01:35still some heavy ones potentially in the south-east corner of England

0:01:35 > 0:01:38and temperatures struggling to make seven or

0:01:38 > 0:01:40eight degrees in many parts of the country.

0:01:40 > 0:01:42So, low pressure in charge for the next few days,

0:01:42 > 0:01:45a lot of showers, longer spells of rain in eastern Scotland.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47Low pressure begins to fill, it begins to weaken.

0:01:47 > 0:01:51It looks like Wednesday could be a somewhat drier day.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54Now, there is some very cold air, actually, not far away,

0:01:54 > 0:01:57in the Continent, across the north and east of Europe,

0:01:57 > 0:02:00and we could see some of that heading into the far

0:02:00 > 0:02:04north of Scotland on those winds, but otherwise we're staying in this

0:02:04 > 0:02:07relatively mild air, and there won't be as much rain around

0:02:07 > 0:02:11on Wednesday, but there may not be an awful lot of sunshine, either.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14Then - it's just a brief respite - we've got more weather fronts piling

0:02:14 > 0:02:18in from the Atlantic, another area of low pressure, that long

0:02:18 > 0:02:21weather front there pushing a band of rain across all areas on Thursday.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24And it's not just rain, there'll be some snow maybe over the tops

0:02:24 > 0:02:29of the Pennines, more likely over the mountains and hills of Scotland.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32The rain band looks like it's going to clear

0:02:32 > 0:02:33the south-east of England in the afternoon.

0:02:33 > 0:02:36Some sunshine in Wales, the south-west and Northern Ireland,

0:02:36 > 0:02:38but maybe some showers.

0:02:38 > 0:02:42Sadly, that weather front could be strung out across Scotland, and again

0:02:42 > 0:02:46with that onshore wind it means more rain for the north-east of Scotland.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49So, away from here, some sunshine, some showers.

0:02:49 > 0:02:51We could see some bands of heavy showers coming into Wales

0:02:51 > 0:02:55and the south-west and pushing eastwards later in the day on Friday.

0:02:55 > 0:02:59So, if we look further ahead, this is the position of the jet stream.

0:02:59 > 0:03:00It is quite a way to the south.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03The story really hasn't changed a great deal at all,

0:03:03 > 0:03:05a west-east strong jet stream.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08It's going to bring with it areas of low pressure that will track

0:03:08 > 0:03:11slowly over the UK and bring more rain.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14High pressure is with that colder air across Scandinavia.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16That's not heading our way directly,

0:03:16 > 0:03:19but it will block off any movement of those areas of low pressure.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22So essentially, there's more showers or longer spells of rain,

0:03:22 > 0:03:26the winds could be quite brisk at times, as well, not quite as mild

0:03:26 > 0:03:29as it has been but nothing unusual, really, for the time of year.

0:03:32 > 0:03:33People come to Shetland

0:03:33 > 0:03:36because we're out on a big rock in the middle of the North Sea.

0:03:36 > 0:03:38They think this isn't part of real life.
