0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello there. Of course, the weather around the world is linked together

0:00:05 > 0:00:08and, if we've seen very heavy snow from a deep area of low pressure

0:00:08 > 0:00:12across the eastern side of the United States in the last day or so,

0:00:12 > 0:00:14this low is going to be heading our way,

0:00:14 > 0:00:16but as it makes its way across the Atlantic,

0:00:16 > 0:00:18it will become a rather different beast.

0:00:18 > 0:00:20It'll begin to warm up and I think any snow

0:00:20 > 0:00:22will turn to rain pretty quickly,

0:00:22 > 0:00:24but still going to bring a lot of isobars to the UK.

0:00:24 > 0:00:27That means it's going to be windy and wet.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29Very large rainfall totals, Tuesday in particular.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32But at least staying mild over the next few days,

0:00:32 > 0:00:34with a southerly breeze, and those temperatures

0:00:34 > 0:00:37should be a good few degrees above the seasonal average.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39And pretty mild overnight tonight.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41Actually, a very mild day on Sunday,

0:00:41 > 0:00:42with a lot of cloud.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44Early rain in the north becomes light and patchy.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47Patchy rain across some western coasts and hills,

0:00:47 > 0:00:48along the south coast too.

0:00:48 > 0:00:50Inland, a lot of cloud, not much rain.

0:00:50 > 0:00:52A few breaks in the cloud east of the Pennines.

0:00:52 > 0:00:54Around the Moray Firth could get above 13 degrees.

0:00:54 > 0:00:5613 degrees would be the afternoon high

0:00:56 > 0:00:58for many major towns and cities.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00Very mild indeed.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02It looks pretty mild into Sunday night.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04Again, a lot of cloud, not much rain.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07Some in the north and west, with a bit of a breeze.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09But many places will be fine and dry

0:01:09 > 0:01:10and, by dawn on Monday,

0:01:10 > 0:01:12many places are hanging on to double figures.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14Slightly clearer skies further east

0:01:14 > 0:01:16and maybe temperatures slipping into singles,

0:01:16 > 0:01:18but all in all, it'll be a mild night.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20Monday, a mild day for all areas.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23Best sunshine probably with the clearest skies.

0:01:23 > 0:01:24Some sunshine for East Anglia

0:01:24 > 0:01:26and south-east, at least initially.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28Further north and west, cloud is gathering,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30rain moving in, winds picking up as well.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33But still in mild air for the most part.

0:01:33 > 0:01:3613-14 degrees - really good going

0:01:36 > 0:01:37for this time of the year.

0:01:37 > 0:01:39Then, as we get on into Tuesday,

0:01:39 > 0:01:41that big low has crossed the Atlantic

0:01:41 > 0:01:43and, as I say, it's a different beast

0:01:43 > 0:01:46when it hits our shores - it's about wind strength,

0:01:46 > 0:01:48which could be gale or severe gale force

0:01:48 > 0:01:50in the north and west and we'll see a lot of rain

0:01:50 > 0:01:52in some northern and western areas.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54We could well see quite widely 100mm

0:01:54 > 0:01:56or maybe even more than that.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58Quite a bit more than that certainly possible.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00So keep an eye on the forecast.

0:02:00 > 0:02:01We'll firm up on the details.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03That low still affecting us into Wednesday,

0:02:03 > 0:02:06slowly drifting its way towards Scandinavia,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08so it starts off quite windy,

0:02:08 > 0:02:10but becomes not so windy into the afternoon,

0:02:10 > 0:02:12but this trailing weather front will cause problems

0:02:12 > 0:02:14across the south of the UK -

0:02:14 > 0:02:16getting forecasts right for that will be difficult.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19But otherwise, Wednesday looks mild but windy,

0:02:19 > 0:02:21and a lot of cloud and outbreaks of rain.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23Heaviest of course always in the south.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25Things calm down through Thursday,

0:02:25 > 0:02:27still question marks about the position

0:02:27 > 0:02:28of this waving weather front.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30Another weather front to the north and west.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33But in between, doing quite well on Thursday,

0:02:33 > 0:02:34with a lot of dry weather.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36Windy towards the north-west of the UK

0:02:36 > 0:02:39and south-east, with most of the cloud and rain.

0:02:39 > 0:02:40In between, it looks like a reasonable day,

0:02:40 > 0:02:43but temperatures dipping back into single figures,

0:02:43 > 0:02:46but a few of us will still be relatively mild.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48Then into next weekend and beyond,

0:02:48 > 0:02:50this is the overall pattern of the jet stream.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53It looks like it'll meander its way across the northern hemisphere.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56When it's on top of us, it'll be driving areas of low pressure,

0:02:56 > 0:02:58which brings wind and rain, but sometimes,

0:02:58 > 0:03:00we'll be on the cold side and sometimes on the warm side,

0:03:00 > 0:03:03so temperatures will be a bit up and down as well.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05So spells of rain mainly in the north and west

0:03:05 > 0:03:06and quite windy conditions here.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09It'll be that bit drier down towards the south-eastern corner.

0:03:09 > 0:03:11Not completely dry, but that bit dry.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14So, in summary, into next weekend and beyond,

0:03:14 > 0:03:16the weather remains quite changeable,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18there will be some spells of wind and rain at times

0:03:18 > 0:03:21and we'll also see changes in those temperatures.

0:03:21 > 0:03:25There will be some frost at times, but, other times, relatively mild

0:03:25 > 0:03:26and the best of the dry weather,

0:03:26 > 0:03:29as we've seen, in the south-eastern corner. Bye for now.
