:00:07. > :00:13.Hello. With February around the corner, a colder flavour may be the

:00:14. > :00:19.story. But before that, we close out the final days of January on a wet

:00:20. > :00:23.and a windy note. Storm Gertrude arrives in the north

:00:24. > :00:29.of the UK, bringing wet and windy weather. Severe or storm force gusts

:00:30. > :00:33.of winds are not out of the question.

:00:34. > :00:39.Here she is rattling through and then opening the floodgates for

:00:40. > :00:44.tightly packed isobars and windy conditions with more wet weather to

:00:45. > :00:50.come next week. I would not be surprised if there are gales causing

:00:51. > :00:54.travel disruption not only in the weekend but through to Monday.

:00:55. > :00:58.Gertrude is to sink south and east, taking the heavy rain and weaken as

:00:59. > :01:04.she moving through England and Wales. Behind it, brighter, showery

:01:05. > :01:10.but colder conditions. Especially in the far north and the west. Mild

:01:11. > :01:15.down to the south, to 12 sells arcs but to the north, the temperatures

:01:16. > :01:21.at six Celsius. The temperatures continuing to drop and the winds a

:01:22. > :01:26.feature. So blizzard like conditions Friday through to Saturday night.

:01:27. > :01:32.That is in Scotland, and heavy rain in the south of England. The rain

:01:33. > :01:35.clearing to a brighter, breezy, and colder feel in England and Wales.

:01:36. > :01:41.Snow showers in Scotland for a time. That could cause issues as well.

:01:42. > :01:46.In terms of the feel of things for the weekend, a colder feel three or

:01:47. > :01:50.four Celsius to the north. About seven or nine to the south-east

:01:51. > :01:54.corner. All change out of Saturday to Sunday. We see more wet weather

:01:55. > :01:59.starting to ripple up from the south. Moving across the country.

:02:00. > :02:04.That again is going to introduce a south-westerly flow. A milder feel.

:02:05. > :02:08.So it will bring wet weather with it as it moves across Northern Ireland

:02:09. > :02:13.and Scotland but also milder weather back to 13 Celsius. Cold into the

:02:14. > :02:20.far north. On the leading edge for a time there could be snow but the

:02:21. > :02:24.milder air tucks in behind. A wet and a windy day on Monday.

:02:25. > :02:28.Especially in the north. The winds very much a feature. Perhaps

:02:29. > :02:34.something drier and brighter in the south. Milder with 13 Celsius. Eight

:02:35. > :02:39.or nine Celsius in the north. Moving from Monday to Tuesday, a quieter

:02:40. > :02:43.pattern starts to develop. More sunshine around it will start to

:02:44. > :02:48.feel a little bit colder. An indication of what is to come for

:02:49. > :02:52.the six to ten day period. We have been seeing a flip-flop between the

:02:53. > :02:58.colder and the milder weather. But it looks like the colder snap is set

:02:59. > :03:02.to stay longer. Milder weather pushing in but the colder northerly

:03:03. > :03:06.flow staying with us for longer. That will add a difference to the

:03:07. > :03:10.feel of the weather and the type of the weather. The jet stream is

:03:11. > :03:15.sitting to the south. That allows a little more in the way of colder air

:03:16. > :03:22.to dig in. The first few days of February are likely to see colder

:03:23. > :03:28.spells and that means we could see more wintry showers on the tops of

:03:29. > :03:29.high ground. Wind and rain pushing in but not
