0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello, there. February started on a stormy note.

0:00:05 > 0:00:07Henry, our eighth named storm of the winter season,

0:00:07 > 0:00:11has come and gone, but it brought some dramatic stories.

0:00:11 > 0:00:13In fact, we had gusts of wind in excess of 90mph

0:00:13 > 0:00:17in the far north of Scotland and our weather watchers sent in

0:00:17 > 0:00:20these photographs of rough seas and heavy rain.

0:00:20 > 0:00:21However, in the wake of Henry,

0:00:21 > 0:00:24we actually saw this amazing nacreous cloud

0:00:24 > 0:00:27and you can see the rainbow effects as the ice crystals

0:00:27 > 0:00:30reflect off the sun's rays first thing on Tuesday morning.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33I suspect Wednesday won't be quite as dramatic,

0:00:33 > 0:00:35but hopefully a little quieter

0:00:35 > 0:00:38and hopefully a little more in the way of sunshine coming through.

0:00:38 > 0:00:39Yes, we've seen a few showers

0:00:39 > 0:00:41during the first half of Wednesday,

0:00:41 > 0:00:44but the cloud will break up, the showers ease through

0:00:44 > 0:00:45and lighter winds.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47Predominantly dry and sunny

0:00:47 > 0:00:51with just a few isolated showers along west-facing coasts.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54After a chilly start, temperatures will recover,

0:00:54 > 0:00:56but they'll be a little more subdued than recent days.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58Four to six degrees in the north,

0:00:58 > 0:01:01around seven to nine further south,

0:01:01 > 0:01:02but it's all change again as we move

0:01:02 > 0:01:04out of Wednesday into Thursday.

0:01:04 > 0:01:05A weather front pushes through.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08On the leading edge, we could see some snow for a time

0:01:08 > 0:01:10to higher ground in Scotland and northern England.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12We're not too concerned for it.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14Hopefully, the milder air will flood back in

0:01:14 > 0:01:15and it'll turn back to rain.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18You can see double figures by the start of Thursday in the west.

0:01:18 > 0:01:22Still cold, though, in the far north and east.

0:01:22 > 0:01:23As we move through Thursday,

0:01:23 > 0:01:25it's a bit more of a subdued,

0:01:25 > 0:01:28drab picture, really. A lot of cloud around.

0:01:28 > 0:01:29A milder feel, yes,

0:01:29 > 0:01:31but it's going to be a grey day

0:01:31 > 0:01:33with some persistent rain just clinging on

0:01:33 > 0:01:34to the far west of Scotland,

0:01:34 > 0:01:36where we don't really need it.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38Also along west-facing coasts,

0:01:38 > 0:01:39a lot of low cloud, poor visibility

0:01:39 > 0:01:41and damp and drizzly.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43Top temperatures around 13 degrees.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45Still cold in the far north-east.

0:01:45 > 0:01:48On Friday, we pick up a stronger southerly wind,

0:01:48 > 0:01:51a more significant frontal system starting to push in

0:01:51 > 0:01:54and that will gradually move its way from west to east.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57Once it does so - it's going to take its time -

0:01:57 > 0:01:59it will clear away during Saturday and again,

0:01:59 > 0:02:02it's going to introduce slightly colder air with it,

0:02:02 > 0:02:05so on Saturday, we see our weather front easing away,

0:02:05 > 0:02:07maybe double figures in the far south-east,

0:02:07 > 0:02:10some sunny spells behind, but temperatures again reverting back

0:02:10 > 0:02:13to around six or seven generally across the country.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16Need to draw your attention by the end of Saturday

0:02:16 > 0:02:17to this area of low pressure

0:02:17 > 0:02:19into the south-west.

0:02:19 > 0:02:23At the moment, there's still a level of uncertainty as to the position

0:02:23 > 0:02:26and the track that area of low pressure is likely to take,

0:02:26 > 0:02:27but it could be significant,

0:02:27 > 0:02:31because with that colder air sitting across the country,

0:02:31 > 0:02:33it looks likely that the jet stream

0:02:33 > 0:02:35will be to the south of the UK,

0:02:35 > 0:02:38so we're going to be on the northern edge of the jet stream.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41We talk about the jet stream as this ribbon of winds

0:02:41 > 0:02:45high up in the atmosphere driving low pressure systems towards us.

0:02:45 > 0:02:47That could pick up that low that I was talking about

0:02:47 > 0:02:50and move it towards the southern half of the UK

0:02:50 > 0:02:54and maybe for a time, there could be a little bit of wet snow,

0:02:54 > 0:02:57but it does mean we could see some wet and windy weather

0:02:57 > 0:02:58across England and Wales.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00The jet stream position into early next week

0:03:00 > 0:03:02is likely to change, though.

0:03:02 > 0:03:05It'll move potentially towards the middle of the UK,

0:03:05 > 0:03:07maybe towards the end of the week

0:03:07 > 0:03:09drifting a little bit further south.

0:03:09 > 0:03:11What all this means is that there's the potential

0:03:11 > 0:03:13as we move into next week,

0:03:13 > 0:03:14the second week of February,

0:03:14 > 0:03:16we'll see some wetter and windier weather

0:03:16 > 0:03:19focusing its attention across England and Wales

0:03:19 > 0:03:22and Scotland, where it's been so miserable of late,

0:03:22 > 0:03:24could potentially see drier

0:03:24 > 0:03:26and quieter weather conditions.

0:03:26 > 0:03:27That's a long way away.

0:03:27 > 0:03:28Whatever you're doing,

0:03:28 > 0:03:30enjoy Wednesday's sunshine.

0:03:41 > 0:03:42Repeated warnings...

0:03:42 > 0:03:44The Government thought it was the right thing to do.

0:03:44 > 0:03:46..allegations and accusations...

0:03:46 > 0:03:48They're going to make me the demon of Peckham.

0:03:48 > 0:03:50With unprecedented access

0:03:50 > 0:03:52to the decline and fall of a charity empire.
