0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. We've just had a spell

0:00:04 > 0:00:07of slightly quieter weather through the middle of the week,

0:00:07 > 0:00:11but things are going to turn more unsettled once again.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14Next week, it looks as if we might have to batten down the hatches

0:00:14 > 0:00:17once more. This is just cloud streaming in

0:00:17 > 0:00:18off the Atlantic.

0:00:18 > 0:00:21It'll bring us cloudy conditions

0:00:21 > 0:00:23and rain during Thursday,

0:00:23 > 0:00:25but it will be mild -

0:00:25 > 0:00:28it has felt quite chilly in the last few days.

0:00:28 > 0:00:30Double-figure temperatures

0:00:30 > 0:00:32across the South-west, Wales,

0:00:32 > 0:00:34possibly Northern Ireland,

0:00:34 > 0:00:38but for Eastern England and the North-east of Scotland,

0:00:38 > 0:00:41here, barely above freezing

0:00:41 > 0:00:43first thing on Thursday.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46If anything, the rain might become

0:00:46 > 0:00:47more widespread,

0:00:47 > 0:00:50at least across Western and Central Scotland,

0:00:50 > 0:00:53but these are mild south-westerly winds

0:00:53 > 0:00:55so the milder air sitting here

0:00:55 > 0:00:57will slowly claw itself

0:00:57 > 0:00:59towards the east and north,

0:00:59 > 0:01:02so, for most of England, Wales

0:01:02 > 0:01:03and Northern Ireland,

0:01:03 > 0:01:05it's a relatively mild day,

0:01:05 > 0:01:08but for the north and east of Scotland,

0:01:08 > 0:01:10it'll stay chilly.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12Friday - south-westerly winds

0:01:12 > 0:01:13mean that mild air

0:01:13 > 0:01:16will reach areas as far north as Newcastle,

0:01:16 > 0:01:18possibly southern Scotland.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20There is some rain in the forecast -

0:01:20 > 0:01:23through Scotland, Northern Ireland -

0:01:23 > 0:01:26that is a weather front that will sweep across

0:01:26 > 0:01:28the country second half of Friday,

0:01:28 > 0:01:31through the early hours of Saturday.

0:01:31 > 0:01:33Here it is -

0:01:33 > 0:01:35that weather front sweeping across,

0:01:35 > 0:01:38but then we've got this to look forward to,

0:01:38 > 0:01:40unfortunately. Quite a nasty area

0:01:40 > 0:01:42of low pressure -

0:01:42 > 0:01:44strong winds and heavy rain

0:01:44 > 0:01:46later on Saturday.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48The east might get away with some sunshine

0:01:48 > 0:01:51but many of these western approaches

0:01:51 > 0:01:53and the Channel coastline,

0:01:53 > 0:01:56it'll be a blustery day, if not gale-force winds.

0:01:56 > 0:02:00Sunday, we start to see that area of low pressure

0:02:00 > 0:02:03clear away. A brief gap in the weather

0:02:03 > 0:02:06before this low arrives on Monday,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08so enjoy Sunday,

0:02:08 > 0:02:10that brief gap in the weather.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12There might be some sunshine,

0:02:12 > 0:02:14particularly across eastern areas,

0:02:14 > 0:02:16but as early as mid-afternoon,

0:02:16 > 0:02:18we start to see more rain and winds

0:02:18 > 0:02:20sweeping in off the Atlantic,

0:02:20 > 0:02:23so you get that feel that things will be changing

0:02:23 > 0:02:25quite a lot. Here's that huge low -

0:02:25 > 0:02:27I'll step out of the way.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29It's from this side of the Atlantic

0:02:29 > 0:02:31all the way to the Baltic,

0:02:31 > 0:02:34so a large swathe of some very strong winds

0:02:34 > 0:02:35blowing through the UK.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37Steady with the umbrellas -

0:02:37 > 0:02:40there'll be some blustery showers.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42The reason for it is the jet stream.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45This is what most of next week will look like -

0:02:45 > 0:02:49this powerful jet stream blowing across the Atlantic,

0:02:49 > 0:02:52sending one area of low pressure after the other,

0:02:52 > 0:02:55but it does look as though it's the beginning of next week

0:02:55 > 0:02:56that'll be the windiest,

0:02:56 > 0:03:00might even be stormy across some exposed areas of the UK.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03With the jet stream slicing the UK,

0:03:03 > 0:03:06we'll be on the cusp of the colder air to the north

0:03:06 > 0:03:08and the milder air to the south,

0:03:08 > 0:03:11so we might get shots of slightly milder air,

0:03:11 > 0:03:13then little shots of colder air, then milder air.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16One thing's for sure - it'll be rough,

0:03:16 > 0:03:19particularly across western and southern areas.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22Like I said, keep in tune with the weather forecast

0:03:22 > 0:03:26as it is going to turn a little on the rough side,

0:03:26 > 0:03:30particularly the beginning of next week. Thanks for watching.
