0:00:03 > 0:00:04If you were watching this time yesterday,

0:00:04 > 0:00:07we were promising you lots of blustery weather

0:00:07 > 0:00:09and that still remains the case in the forecast

0:00:09 > 0:00:11for the weather for the week ahead.

0:00:11 > 0:00:13The next few days will see lots of cloud

0:00:13 > 0:00:15rolling off the Atlantic,

0:00:15 > 0:00:17rain at times and very strong winds as well.

0:00:17 > 0:00:20In fact, a daisy chain of low pressures coming our way

0:00:20 > 0:00:23and actually, this time it's more southern areas of the UK

0:00:23 > 0:00:26that are likely to get those gale-force winds.

0:00:26 > 0:00:29In the short term, it's not too bad, at least on Friday.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32Early in the morning we'll see cloud sweeping in off the Atlantic.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34It'll be very mild throughout the width

0:00:34 > 0:00:35and the breadth of the country.

0:00:35 > 0:00:37This is what it looks like

0:00:37 > 0:00:38first thing for the early birds -

0:00:38 > 0:00:40outbreaks of rain across Scotland,

0:00:40 > 0:00:43getting into Northern Ireland as well and as I said,

0:00:43 > 0:00:45it'll be mild, nine degrees there in Glasgow.

0:00:45 > 0:00:46At this stage,

0:00:46 > 0:00:49the winds already starting to strengthen in the north-west here.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52Not too windy inland or the east of the country.

0:00:52 > 0:00:53Here I think it's just cloudy,

0:00:53 > 0:00:55maybe a few glimmers of brightness.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57By the same token, also a few spots of rain.

0:00:59 > 0:01:04around ten degrees for Newquay as well,

0:01:04 > 0:01:06Then as we go through the course of Friday morning,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08those winds will start to strengthen.

0:01:08 > 0:01:09These are mild south-westerlies.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12Could be a little bit of brightness to the east of the UK,

0:01:12 > 0:01:13but I think generally speaking,

0:01:13 > 0:01:15the weather will be going downhill.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17This band of weather will be approaching

0:01:17 > 0:01:18many western areas of the UK.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21Behind it, we'll start to see temporarily colder air

0:01:21 > 0:01:24coming into Scotland and Northern Ireland, so perhaps a chilly evening

0:01:24 > 0:01:25across this part of the country,

0:01:25 > 0:01:28but the weather front may actually bring

0:01:28 > 0:01:2940mm of rain in one or two areas

0:01:29 > 0:01:32for south-western Scotland and also Cumbria.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35Now, the weekend itself - very windy for sure,

0:01:35 > 0:01:37and also it'll be particularly wet, I think on Saturday.

0:01:37 > 0:01:39I indicated at the beginning of the forecast

0:01:39 > 0:01:41that it's more southern areas

0:01:41 > 0:01:42that really will get the strong winds

0:01:42 > 0:01:45and this is certainly reflected in this pressure pattern for Saturday,

0:01:45 > 0:01:48the isobars really tightly packed across the south,

0:01:48 > 0:01:51so that means gale-force winds sweeping Cornwall, Devon

0:01:51 > 0:01:53the West Country generally, Wales,

0:01:53 > 0:01:55along the central southern coastline

0:01:55 > 0:01:57and also lots of rain with that too.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00Further north, maybe not quite so windy,

0:02:00 > 0:02:02but there will be plenty of rain about,

0:02:02 > 0:02:04at least at one point or another during the day,

0:02:04 > 0:02:06so take your brolly just in case.

0:02:06 > 0:02:19Then Sunday - a little bit better.

0:02:19 > 0:02:23Windy inland to.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29Yesterday, we were predicting a big low pressure

0:02:29 > 0:02:32to be barrelling across this part of the Atlantic.

0:02:32 > 0:02:33That still remains the case.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35A lot of wind out there heading our way

0:02:35 > 0:02:37for the beginning of next week.

0:02:37 > 0:02:38Through Monday and Tuesday,

0:02:38 > 0:02:40these are the approximate temperatures.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43Those strong gusts of wind could even be disruptive,

0:02:43 > 0:02:46so that's something that we'll be keeping a close eye on.

0:02:46 > 0:02:47This jet stream which is driving

0:02:47 > 0:02:49the areas of low pressure

0:02:49 > 0:02:52and the strong winds continues through much of next week.

0:02:52 > 0:02:53That still remains the case,

0:02:53 > 0:02:57certainly compared to yesterday's forecast, nothing has changed here.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59But maybe there's just a hint,

0:02:59 > 0:03:02just an indication that towards the end of next week,

0:03:02 > 0:03:04since the jet stream's fairly close to us,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06we're just on that cusp of the colder air,

0:03:06 > 0:03:08we're on that other side of the jet stream,

0:03:08 > 0:03:12so perhaps a little bit of this colder weather heading our way

0:03:12 > 0:03:14towards the end of next week,

0:03:14 > 0:03:15but it's just a hint at the moment.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18It could equally actually turn mild.

0:03:18 > 0:03:20The summary next week...

0:03:27 > 0:03:29That's it, I think you're up to date.
