0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello there, some of you open up the working week on a very stormy note.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08Imogen, the latest named storm to hit to head our way is with us.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11But compared to previous storms this is following a slightly

0:00:11 > 0:00:14different track, it's further south, the jet stream is further south,

0:00:14 > 0:00:16and that means while the core of the low-pressure system may

0:00:16 > 0:00:20be across Scotland with the lightest of the winds, on the southern flank

0:00:20 > 0:00:22of it, its southern half of the UK bearing the brunt of the impact.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24So, from light winds in the north,

0:00:24 > 0:00:27the further south you go the stronger winds are on Monday.

0:00:27 > 0:00:28Touching 60, 70,

0:00:28 > 0:00:31maybe 80mph around the coast of southern England

0:00:31 > 0:00:34and South Wales, it's here we've got a Met Office "be prepared"

0:00:34 > 0:00:36amber warning in place.

0:00:36 > 0:00:39Lots of impact on travel, potential power problems as well.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42Not just strong winds, but whipping up some very high and rough seas.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45Dangerous conditions around the north coasts of Devon and Cornwall

0:00:45 > 0:00:47and also to the Isles of Scilly in particular.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49We could see wave heights of up to 40 metres.

0:00:49 > 0:00:50To go with those strong damaging

0:00:50 > 0:00:53and potentially destructive winds across England and Wales, frequent

0:00:53 > 0:00:56heavy thundery showers through the day, bit of sunshine between.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58Much quieter conditions further north.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00Fewer showers and some across Scotland will stay dry

0:01:00 > 0:01:03and reasonably sunny all day long. After a frosty and icy start.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05A cold-feeling day, especially

0:01:05 > 0:01:07where you've got those winds howling throughout.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09Now, the winds remain strong across England

0:01:09 > 0:01:12and Wales at least as we go through Monday night into Tuesday,

0:01:12 > 0:01:14abating a little bit compared to what they have been through the day.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17Showers, outbreaks of rain - they start to become more

0:01:17 > 0:01:20focused between Northern Ireland, southern Scotland, northern England

0:01:20 > 0:01:22and that's going to be the dividing line between chilly air and

0:01:22 > 0:01:24colder conditions to the north where we'll see frost and ice

0:01:24 > 0:01:26to begin Tuesday.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29But as Imogen pushes its way off into Scandinavia, the northerly

0:01:29 > 0:01:32winds will become dominant to the north of this weather front which

0:01:32 > 0:01:34will edge its way southwards through the day.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36Bringing outbreaks of rain, sleet and hill snow.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38Still a few heavy showers towards the south,

0:01:38 > 0:01:41maybe touching gale force around some western areas throughout still,

0:01:41 > 0:01:44but there will be some sunshine either side of that weather front

0:01:44 > 0:01:47and not a bad afternoon across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland

0:01:47 > 0:01:50but some temperatures only around four or five degrees.

0:01:50 > 0:01:52Now, Tuesday night into Wednesday,

0:01:52 > 0:01:55that weather front clears the south coast, it opens the door to

0:01:55 > 0:01:58northerly winds and pushes the cold air in across all of us.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00Wednesday, potentially the quietest day of the week.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03Still some strong winds across the north-east of Scotland with some

0:02:03 > 0:02:05shows around, those will be wintry in nature

0:02:05 > 0:02:07and we could see the dregs of an old weather front towards

0:02:07 > 0:02:09the south-west bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain

0:02:09 > 0:02:13but in between, most, after a frosty start, will see some dry sunny

0:02:13 > 0:02:15weather but rather cool conditions throughout.

0:02:15 > 0:02:17Now the jet stream is further south by the time we get to this

0:02:17 > 0:02:19stage, so low-pressure systems look likely to

0:02:19 > 0:02:21head into France rather than our shores

0:02:21 > 0:02:24but just be wary, they could get very close to the south coast so

0:02:24 > 0:02:27always bear that in mind across the south for the second half

0:02:27 > 0:02:29of the week. But at the moment, Thursday,

0:02:29 > 0:02:30again still fairly light winds

0:02:30 > 0:02:33a lot of cloud around. Some old weather fronts bring in a few

0:02:33 > 0:02:34spots of rain or drizzle

0:02:34 > 0:02:37but the sun will break through here and there and many will be dry.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40As the jet stream tries to edge further northwards

0:02:40 > 0:02:42into Friday it brings a deep area of low pressure our way but it

0:02:42 > 0:02:45doesn't get too far north, it stays centred across England and Wales,

0:02:45 > 0:02:47it looks like.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49So the northern flank of it - cold air,

0:02:49 > 0:02:51strong easterly winds may be bringing cloud and drizzle to

0:02:51 > 0:02:54eastern Scotland, best of the brighter breaks further west.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56Further south you are, most likely to see outbreaks of rain,

0:02:56 > 0:02:58wetter conditions and given the fact the ground is

0:02:58 > 0:03:01saturated, flooding we have seen of late, that is

0:03:01 > 0:03:03something we'll certainly have to keep a close eye on.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05So the jet stream is trying to push further north into the weekend,

0:03:05 > 0:03:07but it's a half-hearted effort

0:03:07 > 0:03:09and what that means is low-pressure systems will push towards us

0:03:09 > 0:03:12one after the other but scoot down in towards France

0:03:12 > 0:03:15clipping southern and western areas in particular with wind and rain.

0:03:15 > 0:03:16Colder conditions the further north.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18Always be a little bit of snow on the northern flank of it.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21Into next week, the jet stream does look, though, it will push north

0:03:21 > 0:03:24again bringing low-pressure systems, more wet and windy weather,

0:03:24 > 0:03:27but something drier towards the south of the UK.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30And John Hammond will keep you updated on that tomorrow.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34Not so long ago, you'd just beat a rug for a good time.

0:03:34 > 0:03:36After this, we can do the other carpet in the lounge!

0:03:36 > 0:03:38Since then, things have perked up.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41Oh, my God!

0:03:41 > 0:03:43We're going on holiday.

0:03:43 > 0:03:44Are you ready? Yeah!

0:03:44 > 0:03:48See one family live through a spare-time revolution...

0:03:48 > 0:03:49You've turned into a WAG!

0:03:49 > 0:03:52..from "no time" to "me time".
