0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello, thanks for tuning in, time to have a look at the weather

0:00:05 > 0:00:08for the next few days and there will be quite a lot of changeable

0:00:08 > 0:00:10weather as we go over the next seven days or so.

0:00:10 > 0:00:12Starting with the short-term, we've got

0:00:12 > 0:00:23some wind and rain heading our way, it's visible on the satellite

0:00:23 > 0:00:25some icy patches first thing on Friday morning

0:00:25 > 0:00:29but very quickly the weather is expected to go downhill.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32So let's see what happens through the early hours of Friday morning.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34Clouds thicken across many western areas here.

0:00:34 > 0:00:38But in advance of this weather front, quite a widespread frost with

0:00:38 > 0:00:40some icy patches here and there.

0:00:40 > 0:00:43I don't think the temperatures will be falling widely below freezing

0:00:43 > 0:00:46in many of the major towns and cities

0:00:46 > 0:00:48but certainly in rural spots it will be pretty cold.

0:00:48 > 0:00:50So onto Friday morning's rush hour then,

0:00:50 > 0:00:54the wet and windy weather certainly setting into the Western Isles

0:00:54 > 0:00:56of Scotland, a bit of snow across the Highlands here,

0:00:56 > 0:00:59not a pleasant start for Northern Ireland by any means,

0:00:59 > 0:01:01three degrees with outbreaks of rain.

0:01:01 > 0:01:05Can just about see that cloud and the bits

0:01:05 > 0:01:11areas but across the bulk of England it's a cold, crisp start.

0:01:11 > 0:01:18but very quickly through the morning the weather is going to go

0:01:18 > 0:01:25Certainly by the time we get to lunchtime, it will be

0:01:25 > 0:01:26but it does look as though the extreme south-east

0:01:26 > 0:01:39and East Anglia perhaps staying dry, at least through

0:01:39 > 0:01:49quite literally, the North Atlantic in half. To the

0:01:49 > 0:01:53which is a weather front - and we've got cloud, wind and rain

0:01:53 > 0:01:56and unfortunately it looks as though this weather front will be

0:01:56 > 0:01:59sliding, quite possibly, roughly along the same place,

0:01:59 > 0:02:01around the same place through the course of the weekend which

0:02:01 > 0:02:04means that we could see some heavy rain around

0:02:04 > 0:02:07Wales into parts of north-western England into Cumbria as well.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10So if you're stuck underneath this weather front it could be

0:02:10 > 0:02:13raining all through the weekend and a big temperature contrast, as well,

0:02:13 > 0:02:14between the north and south.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16Here's the copycat conditions on Sunday,

0:02:16 > 0:02:19again the weather front sliding through the UK

0:02:19 > 0:02:22but I think on Sunday it looks as though maybe more northern areas,

0:02:22 > 0:02:25perhaps Lancashire and certainly Cumbria getting a good dose of rain.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28But that temperature contrast really will be evident - from five

0:02:28 > 0:02:31degrees in Glasgow to perhaps 14 in the south of the UK.

0:02:31 > 0:02:35So nearly a ten-degree drop from north to south.

0:02:35 > 0:02:36Now, early next week,

0:02:36 > 0:02:39it does look as though that milder air that would have

0:02:39 > 0:02:42sat across the south of the UK, will retreat a little bit further

0:02:42 > 0:02:43southwards and we're going to get a shot,

0:02:43 > 0:02:46at least temporarily, of colder air and some calmer,

0:02:46 > 0:02:50more crisp conditions as a little high pressure develops.

0:02:50 > 0:02:52And we will see round that high pressure,

0:02:52 > 0:02:54the cold air coming in once again.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57So early next week, I think, some cold mornings on the way,

0:02:57 > 0:02:59perhaps some wintry showers across northern areas

0:02:59 > 0:03:01and the winds will certainly feel on the chilly side.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04And as we go through the week, the middle part of the week,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06that area of high pressure should zip away briefly,

0:03:06 > 0:03:09so it's only a transient high, that means it doesn't stick around for

0:03:09 > 0:03:12very long, and then instead, towards the end of next week,

0:03:12 > 0:03:13we start to see

0:03:13 > 0:03:17an area of low pressure coming in, pushing mild southwesterlies.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20So that means that later next week, from that cold and crisp weather,

0:03:20 > 0:03:23we'll get milder conditions with some wet and windy weather.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25So it looks as though the weather will be very

0:03:25 > 0:03:28changeable in the next five to seven days.

0:03:28 > 0:03:29Thanks for watching.
