:00:00. > :00:12.. Hello there, what a week it has been so far, we've had some real
:00:13. > :00:14.contrasting weather conditions, cold and frosty on Monday, mild and wet
:00:15. > :00:20.on Tuesday, snow to come for Wednesday. All due to an undulating
:00:21. > :00:24.jet stream that we've got across the country at the moment and, with that
:00:25. > :00:27.under legislation, brings a real contrast, a flip-flop, with the feel
:00:28. > :00:33.of the weather. So Monday we had cold air across the country. By
:00:34. > :00:37.Tuesday, the milder air arrived but brought rain with it as well, some
:00:38. > :00:41.of it heavy. Before Wednesday, the cold air digs deep. And this time
:00:42. > :00:45.it's going to stay for a while. It's also responsible for a named storm
:00:46. > :00:48.by the Irish Met Office, pushing south and west. It will bring gales
:00:49. > :00:51.to the extreme south-west but we're more concerned about the snow
:00:52. > :00:54.showers moving out of the north of England, across Wales, into the
:00:55. > :00:59.Midlands. Wet snow and sleet, perhaps, as it pushes south and
:01:00. > :01:02.east. Hind it, though, still a cluster of snow showers to come,
:01:03. > :01:08.even at lower levels a cold feel to the day, highs of 5-9 degrees. As we
:01:09. > :01:11.move out of Wednesday, the showers will gradually start to ease away
:01:12. > :01:15.and Thursday looks a slightly quieter day, with lighter winds.
:01:16. > :01:19.Hopefully we should see a dryer scenario. And it will feel just that
:01:20. > :01:23.little bit better as well, with some sunshine coming through, showers few
:01:24. > :01:26.and far between and temperatures up as high as 5-9 degrees. But it all
:01:27. > :01:31.changes again as we move into Friday and there's a level of uncertainty,
:01:32. > :01:35.as this weather front pushes in as to how much rain and potential snow
:01:36. > :01:40.we could see across the north of England and then it will pivot its
:01:41. > :01:43.way south and east. Now, just where that frontal system tends toe lie is
:01:44. > :01:47.still open to question so keep watching the forecast. But there is
:01:48. > :01:51.a risk, particularly across higher ground, of yet more snow and again
:01:52. > :01:54.still quite a cold feel to the day as the front sinks south and east
:01:55. > :01:58.yet again. The start of the weekend, I'm pleased to say, back to a
:01:59. > :02:03.quieter theme. The isobars open up, still in a vertical position so
:02:04. > :02:07.still a northerly wind direction the source. It will still feel pretty
:02:08. > :02:11.chilly but showers mostly to the coast, still a wintry mix in there,
:02:12. > :02:18.and hopefully a bit of sunshine building as well, highs again around
:02:19. > :02:21.5-8 degrees. We have this undulatnion in the jet stream
:02:22. > :02:24.allowing the area of high pressure to build in the west as we move out
:02:25. > :02:28.of the weekend and into next week. So there is the potential, then,
:02:29. > :02:31.into Sunday, for the high pressure to build, a weather front just
:02:32. > :02:35.brushing into the far north and west and it may well sink south and bring
:02:36. > :02:39.showers with it but once that is out of the way, things will still cold
:02:40. > :02:42.but relatively quiet. For the early half of next week we have this high
:02:43. > :02:45.down towards the south-west. Indications are that's going to
:02:46. > :02:50.continue to drag in this colder feel for the first week or so of March.
:02:51. > :02:54.The high drifts steadily south and potentially later on next week, lows
:02:55. > :02:58.could develop and move in from the north-west, turning things a little
:02:59. > :03:02.more unsettled. So, the opening half of March, pretty chilly. Yes,
:03:03. > :03:05.widespread frost, may be even some wintry showers continuing. I know
:03:06. > :03:09.what you are thinking, you want scenes like this really with spring
:03:10. > :03:12.lambs and some lovely sunshine. All together now, "Ah", but the question
:03:13. > :03:16.is, are we going to get it? And for those who have worked it out, yes,
:03:17. > :03:20.it has been one of the wildest winters on record, but, as you can
:03:21. > :03:23.see, January was colder than December, February colder than
:03:24. > :03:28.January and the early half of March, so far, looks pretty chilly indeed.
:03:29. > :03:31.That is not my problem for tomorrow.
