0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. We may be in the first week of spring meteorologically,
0:00:06 > 0:00:09but things have felt pretty wintry over the past couple of days,
0:00:09 > 0:00:11and in fact we're going to hold on to that fairly cold feel to the
0:00:11 > 0:00:13weather through the first part of this week.
0:00:13 > 0:00:17So a wintry start to things, gradually turning milder later on
0:00:17 > 0:00:20through the coming week, and rather more unsettled eventually, too.
0:00:20 > 0:00:23But we're still in the cold air mass through the course of Sunday.
0:00:23 > 0:00:26A little more in the way of sunshine during the morning.
0:00:26 > 0:00:28I think by the afternoon the cloud building for many areas.
0:00:28 > 0:00:31Still keeping that feed of cold northerly air towards
0:00:31 > 0:00:32the east with some wintry showers.
0:00:32 > 0:00:34One or two wintry showers further west, as well,
0:00:34 > 0:00:37but in general it is a drier day compared to Saturday,
0:00:37 > 0:00:39less breezy, temperatures still below average,
0:00:39 > 0:00:42only around about three to seven Celsius.
0:00:42 > 0:00:44A weather front lurking in the west could bring rain
0:00:44 > 0:00:47and hill snow from parts of Northern Ireland to south-west England,
0:00:47 > 0:00:50but for most places we end the day going through into the early
0:00:50 > 0:00:53hours of Monday on a cold and a clear note.
0:00:53 > 0:00:54So a widespread frost
0:00:54 > 0:00:57and the risk of icy stretches Monday morning, particularly
0:00:57 > 0:01:00where we've got that feed of showers coming in in the east.
0:01:00 > 0:01:03Then, looking at Monday, we've got a northerly air flow,
0:01:03 > 0:01:06those isobars heading all the way back towards the Arctic.
0:01:06 > 0:01:09Weather fronts staying out of the way for the moment, lurking
0:01:09 > 0:01:12in the Atlantic, but through Monday morning itself most places
0:01:12 > 0:01:13start dry with some sunshine,
0:01:13 > 0:01:17and after that initial frost it will feel fairly pleasant in light winds.
0:01:17 > 0:01:18But the northerly breeze
0:01:18 > 0:01:21driving in further showers across East Anglia and the south-east,
0:01:21 > 0:01:24perhaps also through parts of Cheshire, North Wales.
0:01:24 > 0:01:27So showers on the cards. Many central and northern areas,
0:01:27 > 0:01:29though, getting a good deal of sunshine, but still pretty chilly,
0:01:29 > 0:01:32around about five to nine degrees on Monday.
0:01:32 > 0:01:35If we look at the pressure situation, Monday night into Tuesday
0:01:35 > 0:01:38you'll notice this frontal system moving in from the Atlantic.
0:01:38 > 0:01:41Shouldn't bring too much in the way of any heavy precipitation,
0:01:41 > 0:01:43but there will be a change in the feel to things as we head
0:01:43 > 0:01:46through the day on Tuesday, a cloudier story, a change
0:01:46 > 0:01:50in wind direction to more of a west or south-westerly direction.
0:01:50 > 0:01:52Scattered showers following on behind,
0:01:52 > 0:01:55outbreaks of rain tending to fizzle out later in the day.
0:01:55 > 0:01:57Temperatures still on the cool side on Tuesday,
0:01:57 > 0:01:59but recovering by a degree or two.
0:01:59 > 0:02:01Into the middle part of the week,
0:02:01 > 0:02:03it looks like milder conditions, the potential
0:02:03 > 0:02:06for some heavy rain, but also colder interludes,
0:02:06 > 0:02:09so we won't be out of the woods in terms of the chance of seeing
0:02:09 > 0:02:11some frosty nights still to come.
0:02:11 > 0:02:13So, Wednesday, a ripple on this weather front could bring
0:02:13 > 0:02:15some potentially heavy rain to areas including
0:02:15 > 0:02:18the south-east of England for a time, so we start
0:02:18 > 0:02:22off Wednesday with that frontal system gradually easing eastwards.
0:02:22 > 0:02:23So it'll probably be northern
0:02:23 > 0:02:25and western areas seeing the best of any drier
0:02:25 > 0:02:28and potentially brighter weather through the day on Wednesday.
0:02:28 > 0:02:31We could see double figures for the first time in a little while.
0:02:31 > 0:02:34Then, on into Thursday, another front moves in from the Atlantic,
0:02:34 > 0:02:37as you can see here, with some fairly tight isobars, so I think
0:02:37 > 0:02:40a spell of pretty windy weather with some heavy rain at times,
0:02:40 > 0:02:43especially across the north-western half of the country,
0:02:43 > 0:02:46on Thursday, but with that south-westerly air flow,
0:02:46 > 0:02:49temperatures fairly widely back into double figures.
0:02:49 > 0:02:53So less sunshine, but at least those temperatures on the rise.
0:02:53 > 0:02:56If we look at the end of next week, it looks like high pressure
0:02:56 > 0:02:59will start to build out towards the south and the east of the UK.
0:02:59 > 0:03:02Low pressure's still likely to move in from the Atlantic.
0:03:02 > 0:03:05That leaves us with a west or a south-westerly flow of milder
0:03:05 > 0:03:07air than we've seen recently.
0:03:07 > 0:03:09Often wet and cloudy conditions, mainly towards
0:03:09 > 0:03:12the north-west of the UK, to end next week, whereas things should be
0:03:12 > 0:03:16a little drier and clearer with some sunshine further south and east.
0:03:16 > 0:03:18So, the outlook for the next ten days or so,
0:03:18 > 0:03:21after a cold start things will gradually turn milder.
0:03:21 > 0:03:25There will be rain at times, and often looking fairly breezy, too.
0:03:25 > 0:03:28That's how it's looking. We'll keep you up to date. Bye for now.
