0:00:03 > 0:00:05The weather pattern which has kept us stormy over winter,

0:00:05 > 0:00:07even into the first part of meteorological spring,

0:00:07 > 0:00:09has now taken a significant change

0:00:09 > 0:00:11and much quieter weather

0:00:11 > 0:00:12on the horizon for the UK -

0:00:12 > 0:00:15"Long may it last!", I can hear you say.

0:00:15 > 0:00:16This is how the Jet Stream

0:00:16 > 0:00:18was directing those stormy

0:00:18 > 0:00:20weather systems across the Atlantic.

0:00:20 > 0:00:21It was relentless in that

0:00:21 > 0:00:23over the winter months,

0:00:23 > 0:00:26but now we're seeing high pressure

0:00:26 > 0:00:27building across the UK,

0:00:27 > 0:00:29changing the position of the jet stream,

0:00:29 > 0:00:31and it's a blocking weather pattern,

0:00:31 > 0:00:33too, so this is not breaking down

0:00:33 > 0:00:34any time soon.

0:00:34 > 0:00:36Low pressure systems missing us to the north,

0:00:36 > 0:00:37around the high pressure

0:00:37 > 0:00:39through the Mediterranean,

0:00:39 > 0:00:42and we are free from significant weather systems

0:00:42 > 0:00:43in the week ahead.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45There are a few niggles out there from time to time,

0:00:45 > 0:00:47and we'll detail those day by day.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49But it is looking much quieter,

0:00:49 > 0:00:51much more settled and benign weather pictures

0:00:51 > 0:00:54from weather watchers for much of the week ahead.

0:00:54 > 0:00:55This, the view from Northern Ireland

0:00:55 > 0:00:57on Saturday where, near the north coast,

0:00:57 > 0:00:59it got to around 15 Celsius.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01Sunday, somewhere could well match that,

0:01:01 > 0:01:02maybe around the Moray coast,

0:01:02 > 0:01:04helped by some sunshine

0:01:04 > 0:01:05and a favourable wind direction

0:01:05 > 0:01:07and plenty of that sunshine

0:01:07 > 0:01:08into the afternoon.

0:01:08 > 0:01:09Let's take a look -

0:01:09 > 0:01:11patchy cloud for Northern Ireland,

0:01:11 > 0:01:13southern Scotland, northern England,

0:01:13 > 0:01:14rain clearing Shetland.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17Around the Moray coast, we can see 15, 16 degrees.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19Plenty sunshine for the afternoon

0:01:19 > 0:01:20into England and Wales -

0:01:20 > 0:01:22in that sunshine, it's going to feel

0:01:22 > 0:01:25quite pleasant, but near the coast

0:01:25 > 0:01:27of East Anglia, far south-east of England,

0:01:27 > 0:01:28not only could you have more cloud,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30but you've got a stronger breeze.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32That really is pegging the temperatures back,

0:01:32 > 0:01:34just about 5 or 6 degrees.

0:01:34 > 0:01:35That is one of those niggles

0:01:35 > 0:01:37in the week ahead, that around the area

0:01:37 > 0:01:38of high pressure, for a time,

0:01:38 > 0:01:40we have that chilly wind down towards the south-east

0:01:40 > 0:01:42and along the south coast of the UK,

0:01:42 > 0:01:44holding temperatures back,

0:01:44 > 0:01:46accentuating a chill.

0:01:46 > 0:01:47On Monday, though,

0:01:47 > 0:01:49still some good sunny spells around,

0:01:49 > 0:01:51particularly towards the north-west of the UK,

0:01:51 > 0:01:53this is where we get the highest temperatures -

0:01:53 > 0:01:55Glasgow at around 13 Celsius,

0:01:55 > 0:01:57most of us close to that 10 Celsius mark.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59Bear in mind, overnight, though,

0:01:59 > 0:02:01where you're clear in particularly rural spots,

0:02:01 > 0:02:02there could be a touch of frost -

0:02:02 > 0:02:04again, at times this week,

0:02:04 > 0:02:06there could be a bit of patchy fog as well,

0:02:06 > 0:02:07and as we go into Tuesday,

0:02:07 > 0:02:09the high pressure is still close by,

0:02:09 > 0:02:11still that chilly wind towards the south-east.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13Could see increasing cloud generally

0:02:13 > 0:02:14down the eastern side of the UK

0:02:14 > 0:02:16and that's why we could see

0:02:16 > 0:02:18a few spots of drizzle, seven, eight degrees.

0:02:18 > 0:02:19Sunniest weather, though,

0:02:19 > 0:02:21to the west and north-west of the UK,

0:02:21 > 0:02:23where again, we're into double figures.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26Midweek, nothing changing very quickly -

0:02:26 > 0:02:27high pressure still close by.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29It could well be there's a cloudy zone

0:02:29 > 0:02:32though central parts of the UK on Wednesday

0:02:32 > 0:02:34that could produce a bit of patchy drizzle.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36We're not talking bone-dry this week,

0:02:36 > 0:02:37as I mentioned earlier,

0:02:37 > 0:02:40but the lack of any significant rainfall

0:02:40 > 0:02:43and still the chilly wind down towards the south-east.

0:02:43 > 0:02:44By the time we get to Thursday,

0:02:44 > 0:02:46could well be cloudier generally.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48From thicker cloud,

0:02:48 > 0:02:50you may well encounter some patchy drizzle,

0:02:50 > 0:02:51but that wind is easing

0:02:51 > 0:02:53down towards the south-east of the UK.

0:02:53 > 0:02:54It's feeling less chilly,

0:02:54 > 0:02:55temperatures around 10 degrees,

0:02:55 > 0:02:58and most of us getting 8-10 degrees.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00This is the picture going into next weekend,

0:03:00 > 0:03:02very much dominated by high pressure,

0:03:02 > 0:03:04this blocking weather pattern,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06always very slow to break down.

0:03:06 > 0:03:08There's a chance we could see

0:03:08 > 0:03:09a few Atlantic weather systems

0:03:09 > 0:03:12trying to head our way, but that's a very low possibility

0:03:12 > 0:03:13at this stage for next weekend.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15Most places are looking dry,

0:03:15 > 0:03:17variable cloud, some sunny spells.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19If you're clear for any period of time overnight,

0:03:19 > 0:03:21you could just get a touch of frost,

0:03:21 > 0:03:24there could be patchy fog around as well.

0:03:24 > 0:03:25So, such a big change

0:03:25 > 0:03:28from what we've had over recent months.

0:03:28 > 0:03:31I think most people would be happy with that for a while.
