0:00:03 > 0:00:04Well, after our stormy winter,

0:00:04 > 0:00:08we were all desperate for some spring sunshine and warmth,

0:00:08 > 0:00:10and we've had that so far this week -

0:00:10 > 0:00:11in fact, on Monday,

0:00:11 > 0:00:14it was Dumfries and Galloway that had the lion's share of both,

0:00:14 > 0:00:17with 16 Celsius in south-west Scotland

0:00:17 > 0:00:19and plenty of blue sky and sunshine to go with it.

0:00:19 > 0:00:22Different story, though, across parts of East Anglia -

0:00:22 > 0:00:24on the north Norfolk coast,

0:00:24 > 0:00:26just a disappointing 7 Celsius

0:00:26 > 0:00:28with a stiff easterly wind,

0:00:28 > 0:00:31and that wind still there during Tuesday,

0:00:31 > 0:00:32driving in more cloud

0:00:32 > 0:00:35and perhaps the odd spot or two of drizzle,

0:00:35 > 0:00:37after a pretty murky start as well.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39Hopefully, we'll see a slow improvement

0:00:39 > 0:00:40into the afternoon,

0:00:40 > 0:00:42but west will certainly remain best

0:00:42 > 0:00:44in terms of sunshine and warmth -

0:00:44 > 0:00:46again, we could see those temperatures

0:00:46 > 0:00:47into the mid-teens.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49Always colder along the North Sea coast,

0:00:49 > 0:00:51where we keep the cloud, the drizzle,

0:00:51 > 0:00:53and maybe some hill and coastal fog.

0:00:53 > 0:00:56Now, as we move out of Tuesday into Wednesday,

0:00:56 > 0:00:57we'll see a weather front

0:00:57 > 0:00:58pushing in from the continent -

0:00:58 > 0:01:01unusual, cos they normally come in from the Atlantic.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03That's going to introduce more in the way of cloud

0:01:03 > 0:01:05and, again, the cloud thick enough

0:01:05 > 0:01:07for the odd spot or two of drizzle.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10A bit of a nuisance - windscreen wipers on or off? -

0:01:10 > 0:01:12but eventually, we'll see an improving picture

0:01:12 > 0:01:14down to the south-east, more sunshine here.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16We keep some sunshine into the north-west,

0:01:16 > 0:01:18the cloud just sitting in-between.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21The high pressure remains in the driving seat

0:01:21 > 0:01:23throughout the week, so there's going to be

0:01:23 > 0:01:26little significant rainfall in the weather story.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28Still got that front there, a bit of a nuisance,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30but eventually it will die away,

0:01:30 > 0:01:33and we'll see a fair amount of cloud around

0:01:33 > 0:01:35on Thursday, perhaps the best of the sunshine

0:01:35 > 0:01:37reserved for the far south-west.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40Temperatures starting to dip down a little

0:01:40 > 0:01:42as the winds pick up further north.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45The high pressure stays with us again into Friday,

0:01:45 > 0:01:46but there will be a noticeable difference

0:01:46 > 0:01:48in the feel of the weather story

0:01:48 > 0:01:49across the north of the country,

0:01:49 > 0:01:52with winds freshening up from a north-westerly,

0:01:52 > 0:01:54then temperatures are going to struggle

0:01:54 > 0:01:56in comparison to earlier on in the week.

0:01:56 > 0:01:57The south-west, perhaps,

0:01:57 > 0:01:58seeing the best of the sunshine,

0:01:58 > 0:02:01and look - likely to see temperatures

0:02:01 > 0:02:03generally at around 6-9 degrees.

0:02:03 > 0:02:04So a coolish feel, still.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07As we move into the weekend,

0:02:07 > 0:02:08still a largely dry theme,

0:02:08 > 0:02:10still relatively settled.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12That high pressure's starting to drift

0:02:12 > 0:02:13its way westwards -

0:02:13 > 0:02:15an indication of what's to come -

0:02:15 > 0:02:17but the timings always subject to change.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19Once high pressure

0:02:19 > 0:02:21becomes firmly ensconced across the UK,

0:02:21 > 0:02:23toppling it out of the way is not easy.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25But, again, pretty windy

0:02:25 > 0:02:27and cooler into the far north

0:02:27 > 0:02:29as we move towards the weekend.

0:02:29 > 0:02:31Now, as we move into next week -

0:02:31 > 0:02:33that'll be the final week of March -

0:02:33 > 0:02:35it looks as though we are going

0:02:35 > 0:02:36to continue to see, again,

0:02:36 > 0:02:37a good deal of dry weather

0:02:37 > 0:02:39to start with in the story,

0:02:39 > 0:02:40but there are signs

0:02:40 > 0:02:42of things starting to change.

0:02:42 > 0:02:43This has been the set-up so far,

0:02:43 > 0:02:45with high pressure across the UK

0:02:45 > 0:02:47and the Jet Stream diverted

0:02:47 > 0:02:50across the north, and that's meant that

0:02:50 > 0:02:51the low pressures have been

0:02:51 > 0:02:53to the north of the Jet Stream,

0:02:53 > 0:02:55or across the Mediterranean,

0:02:55 > 0:02:56but it looks as though the high

0:02:56 > 0:02:57is set to continue to drift

0:02:57 > 0:02:59its way steadily westwards,

0:02:59 > 0:03:00across to Northern Ireland,

0:03:00 > 0:03:02and that may allow areas

0:03:02 > 0:03:03of low pressure to move

0:03:03 > 0:03:04into the north-east,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06so we could eventually start to see

0:03:06 > 0:03:08some outbreaks of rain

0:03:08 > 0:03:09and a slow deterioration.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12It is only a potential at the moment,

0:03:12 > 0:03:15and it's certainly subject to change, so for late March,

0:03:15 > 0:03:17we still keep the theme, generally,

0:03:17 > 0:03:19of mainly dry with a few subtle changes,

0:03:19 > 0:03:21potentially turning wetter

0:03:21 > 0:03:23from the north-east eventually.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25As I say, subject to change,

0:03:25 > 0:03:29and Alex Deakin will have more on that tomorrow.
