0:00:02 > 0:00:04We're still expecting major changes in the weather pattern

0:00:04 > 0:00:07across the UK by the end of this week,

0:00:07 > 0:00:08just in time for the Easter weekend.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11Changes are due to changes in the jet stream.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14For a long time now, we've had high pressure close to our shores.

0:00:14 > 0:00:16That's been anchored by a weak jet stream

0:00:16 > 0:00:20that's been tending to dive north-south,

0:00:20 > 0:00:25and that undulating pattern has carried on across the Atlantic.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28we've got a much stronger and more powerful jet stream

0:00:28 > 0:00:30that's running from west to east,

0:00:30 > 0:00:33and that will drive its way across the Atlantic,

0:00:33 > 0:00:34pushing away high pressure

0:00:34 > 0:00:37and, instead, picking up areas of low pressure,

0:00:37 > 0:00:38spinning them to our shores,

0:00:38 > 0:00:41bringing a very different look and feel to the weather

0:00:41 > 0:00:42by the end of the week.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44At the moment, things are fairly quiet still.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47It's all about cloud and sunshine. Chilly start for England and Wales.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50Some sunshine in the morning across South Wales, South Midlands,

0:00:50 > 0:00:52and also for southern England.

0:00:52 > 0:00:54But cloud is slowly spilling its way southwards.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57It should break up for northern England and eastern Scotland,

0:00:57 > 0:00:58but a lot of cloud for Monday.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01For western Scotland and Northern Ireland,

0:01:01 > 0:01:02maybe a bit damp and drizzly.

0:01:02 > 0:01:05Temperatures still in the range 8 to 12 degrees.

0:01:05 > 0:01:09Monday evening, Monday night, there'll be a lot of cloud around,

0:01:09 > 0:01:11so it won't be as cold for England and Wales.

0:01:11 > 0:01:14The cloud across the western side of the UK could be thick enough

0:01:14 > 0:01:17to give us a few spits and spots of rain or drizzle.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19These are the temperatures in the towns and cities.

0:01:19 > 0:01:21Because of the cloud, I think in the countryside

0:01:21 > 0:01:23we'll escape a frost as well.

0:01:23 > 0:01:24This is Tuesday's chart.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26We've still got high pressure with us,

0:01:26 > 0:01:29but this could be the last day of high pressure for a while.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31Underneath that high pressure,

0:01:31 > 0:01:33there'll be a lot of cloud around on Tuesday.

0:01:33 > 0:01:34In the western side of the UK,

0:01:34 > 0:01:37it'll be thick enough to give a little light rain or drizzle,

0:01:37 > 0:01:39chiefly western Scotland, Northern Ireland.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41Further east, eastern Scotland, eastern England,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43this is where we've got the best chance of seeing

0:01:43 > 0:01:46any prolonged breaks in the cloud, and some sunshine.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48Those temperatures are very similar

0:01:48 > 0:01:50to where they've been for the past few days.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53Things start to change later Tuesday and into Wednesday.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55The high pressure recedes

0:01:55 > 0:01:57and we've got low pressure coming in from the Atlantic.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00This weather front is going to be driven our way as well.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03But it's a very weak weather front. There's not much rain on it at all.

0:02:03 > 0:02:04What there is on it

0:02:04 > 0:02:06will tend to push across Northern Ireland, into Scotland.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09A few drip and drabs around the Irish Sea coast, perhaps.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12But for many, southern and eastern areas of the UK, it'll be dry.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14Some sunshine, especially in the south-east of England.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16Blustery showers for Northern Ireland.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19That weather front, what there is of it, clears through.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22The next one that comes in, it looks a little bit more substantial.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25There's more isobars, it'll be a windier day on Thursday.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28And there may be a bit more rain around as well,

0:02:28 > 0:02:30particularly Northern Ireland, western Scotland,

0:02:30 > 0:02:33and some rain or drizzle for the western side of England and Wales.

0:02:33 > 0:02:37Head further east and it's still likely to be dry during the day,

0:02:37 > 0:02:38albeit rather cloudy.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40Now, notice by this stage

0:02:40 > 0:02:42everything is coming in from the Atlantic.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45We have some uncertainty as we move into Good Friday.

0:02:45 > 0:02:49This weather front just hanging on in the south-east of England,

0:02:49 > 0:02:52and it may just keep a bit of rain going in the south-east

0:02:52 > 0:02:54through Good Friday.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56But away from here, a lot of dry weather.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58Some sunshine, a usable day for Good Friday,

0:02:58 > 0:03:01before wet and windy weather returns to the north-west

0:03:01 > 0:03:03by the end of the day.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05A reminder as we head into the Easter weekend.

0:03:05 > 0:03:06Stronger jet stream,

0:03:06 > 0:03:09we're going to push low pressure to the north of the UK.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12The winds fluctuating from south-westerly to north-westerly.

0:03:12 > 0:03:13What does it mean?

0:03:13 > 0:03:16It means it's going to be much more unsettled, much more changeable.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18The winds will be stronger as well.

0:03:18 > 0:03:20That means they'll blow in some rain at times,

0:03:20 > 0:03:23but there'll be some spells of sunshine, too.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25So it's not going to be a wash-out over the weekend,

0:03:25 > 0:03:28but it looks very different from what we've seen for some time now.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34Alan, wake up - you're deflating! I'm awake.

0:03:34 > 0:03:36I can't believe Trevor actually likes this place.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39We can come here every year! Brilliant!
