0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello there. It's been pretty quiet across the UK in recent days,

0:00:06 > 0:00:10with very little rain to speak of. High pressure has been in charge.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13This is what the big picture has looked like recently,

0:00:13 > 0:00:15with high pressure across the United Kingdom,

0:00:15 > 0:00:17the jet stream deflected around it towards the north.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19However, by the end of this week

0:00:19 > 0:00:21we are going to see some pretty big changes

0:00:21 > 0:00:23as the jet stream moves to the south of the UK.

0:00:23 > 0:00:26That's going to allow low pressure to develop across our shores

0:00:26 > 0:00:29and that's going to bring some wetter and windier weather

0:00:29 > 0:00:31later on this week.

0:00:31 > 0:00:34But before we get there, it's a pretty reasonable day on Tuesday,

0:00:34 > 0:00:37a chilly start, few patches of mist and fog, but bright for many.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39Cloud amounts increasing into the afternoon,

0:00:39 > 0:00:41but still some spells of sunshine to be had.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43Maybe not so in the far north and west of Scotland

0:00:43 > 0:00:46because here the cloud's thicker, a bit of light rain and drizzle,

0:00:46 > 0:00:48but through Glasgow, Edinburgh, it's fairly cloudy,

0:00:48 > 0:00:50but there should be some breaks towards Edinburgh.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53With a few breaks in the cloud, light winds, 11 or 12 degrees.

0:00:53 > 0:00:56A lot of cloud in Northern Ireland but it should be mostly dry.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58And fairly cloudy through the afternoon

0:00:58 > 0:01:00across much of the western side of England and Wales.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03Yes, it's fairly cloudy, but most places are dry.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05Only 8 or 9 degrees underneath that cloud.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08We've got some spells of sunshine lasting into the afternoon

0:01:08 > 0:01:10across the southern and eastern parts of England.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13Eastern Scotland also seeing something a little bit brighter.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15Through the evening, a lot of cloud around,

0:01:15 > 0:01:16breaks rather more limited.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19Still a bit of light rain and drizzle towards the north and west,

0:01:19 > 0:01:21and temperatures not dropping away too far -

0:01:21 > 0:01:24by this stage I think they're probably at their lowest

0:01:24 > 0:01:25at about 4 or 5 degrees.

0:01:25 > 0:01:27Wednesday, though, we do see a weak weather front

0:01:27 > 0:01:30drifting its way towards the north and west of the UK.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33That will bring a little bit of rain with it

0:01:33 > 0:01:35and a few showers will follow along behind.

0:01:35 > 0:01:39Many places will just be fine and dry, if rather cloudy.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41We've got that weak weather front to the north and west.

0:01:41 > 0:01:45It will bring some rain to Northern Ireland and Western Scotland

0:01:45 > 0:01:47but that'll be about it - it'll fizzle out as it moves eastwards,

0:01:47 > 0:01:49so most of England and Wales

0:01:49 > 0:01:51will be dry through the middle of the week with a fair bit of cloud.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54Still could get into double figures in the south and east.

0:01:54 > 0:01:58Now, Wednesday's cloud makes its way over eastwards

0:01:58 > 0:02:01only to be followed by this more active weather system for Thursday.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03A lot more isobars, so it will turn quite windy,

0:02:03 > 0:02:06and we're going to see those weather fronts bringing some rain.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08It'll start off in the north and west of the UK

0:02:08 > 0:02:11and spread to all parts as we get on into the afternoon.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13Some drier bits following along behind,

0:02:13 > 0:02:15but still with some blustery showers.

0:02:15 > 0:02:19Then on to Good Friday, and actually it looks like a pretty decent day

0:02:19 > 0:02:21across many parts of the UK.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23That rain will clear away from the south-east early on,

0:02:23 > 0:02:26and then it's dry and bright. We'll hang on to some dry weather

0:02:26 > 0:02:29for central and eastern England well into the afternoon.

0:02:29 > 0:02:30In the north and west, though,

0:02:30 > 0:02:32it looks like wind and rain spreading in

0:02:32 > 0:02:35and that wind will be picking up across all parts later in the day

0:02:35 > 0:02:37as that weather front makes pretty good progress

0:02:37 > 0:02:42southwards and eastwards from Good Friday on into Saturday.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45So Saturday not looking like a great day.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48It'll be quite wet and windy, particularly for England and Wales,

0:02:48 > 0:02:50but the rain is on the move -

0:02:50 > 0:02:53something drier and brighter follows, but still with showers.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56Then looking further ahead towards Easter Day itself,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59the unsettled theme continues with low pressure to the north of the UK.

0:02:59 > 0:03:03There'll be some dry spells but also some showers on Easter Day itself.

0:03:03 > 0:03:04Then for Easter Monday,

0:03:04 > 0:03:07the next area of low pressure is heading our way.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10So through the Easter weekend the winds will be picking up,

0:03:10 > 0:03:12it will be windy, with gales in places.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14There'll be some rain at times, some showers,

0:03:14 > 0:03:17but also some drier and brighter interludes.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20All in all, it does look rather unsettled in the coming few days.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23With all of that coming in from the Atlantic,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25it's always going to be wettest and windiest in the west,

0:03:25 > 0:03:29and still some chilly nights in the forecast, with a touch of frost.
