0:00:02 > 0:00:05A very quiet spell of weather really over the past couple of weeks

0:00:05 > 0:00:08but things are now changing and we have much more unsettled

0:00:08 > 0:00:11conditions on the cards through much of the week ahead.

0:00:11 > 0:00:13Starting off with the long Easter weekend,

0:00:13 > 0:00:16Good Friday probably the drier day with spells of sunshine,

0:00:16 > 0:00:20Saturday potentially pretty wet and windy too.

0:00:20 > 0:00:24Then Easter Sunday, sunshine and heavy showers before we see

0:00:24 > 0:00:27more wind and more rain in time for Easter Monday.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29Let's start with Good Friday then.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31For much of the country we are looking at a dry day with

0:00:31 > 0:00:35lovely spells of sunshine, light winds in the main. A little

0:00:35 > 0:00:37bit of cloud building through the afternoon

0:00:37 > 0:00:38and more cloud, some wind and rain

0:00:38 > 0:00:41into the far north-west late in the day

0:00:41 > 0:00:44but before that gets there, temperatures 14,

0:00:44 > 0:00:47possibly 15 degrees, so it will feel pleasant with the light winds

0:00:47 > 0:00:49and sunshine on Good Friday.

0:00:49 > 0:00:53But heading through the overnight period, this frontal system moves

0:00:53 > 0:00:55its away across Northern Ireland and Scotland bringing a spell of wet

0:00:55 > 0:00:58and windy weather and then ripples of heavy rain and strong gusty

0:00:58 > 0:01:03winds pushing in from the south-west as we start off the day on Saturday.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06A mild start to the day, frost-free across the board

0:01:06 > 0:01:09but a lot of cloud, wind and heavy rain too.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12You can see the proximity of the isobars on the map through

0:01:12 > 0:01:16Saturday indicating that spell of potentially windy weather with

0:01:16 > 0:01:18this weather front bringing spells of rain.

0:01:18 > 0:01:22The rain will be heavy at times as it moves across England and Wales.

0:01:22 > 0:01:26Squally, gusty winds in association with that band of rain.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29The combination of wind and rain across southern

0:01:29 > 0:01:31parts of the country could be causing travel disruption.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34Further north-west, a little bit quieter for Northern Ireland

0:01:34 > 0:01:37and Scotland with some wintry showers over the hills.

0:01:37 > 0:01:41In terms of England and Wales, for Saturday a combination of gales,

0:01:41 > 0:01:45heavy rain at times meaning some disruption to travel through the day.

0:01:45 > 0:01:48Things do quieten down somewhat as we move through Saturday

0:01:48 > 0:01:50night into Easter Day on Sunday.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53That front moves out of the way, low pressure in charge

0:01:53 > 0:01:57so through Easter Day on Sunday it will be a mix of brighter

0:01:57 > 0:02:00intervals but also heavily scattered showers, a chance of hail,

0:02:00 > 0:02:03thunder and quite cold as well particularly exposed to the

0:02:03 > 0:02:07breeze with those heavy downpours at times.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09Not much letup in the weather on into Easter Monday.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11This next system, low pressure system,

0:02:11 > 0:02:13moves in most likely from the south-west.

0:02:13 > 0:02:17Some uncertainty about the timing and detail of the system but it

0:02:17 > 0:02:20looks like we're expecting another spell of potentially heavy rain and

0:02:20 > 0:02:23strong winds, particularly affecting England

0:02:23 > 0:02:25and Wales. Northern Ireland and Scotland could see some strong

0:02:25 > 0:02:29winds but a slightly quieter spell of weather further north.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32Then, as we move through into Tuesday,

0:02:32 > 0:02:35low pressure gradually starting to edge off towards the east,

0:02:35 > 0:02:38things are still looking fairly showery through Tuesday

0:02:38 > 0:02:41so a day of some sunshine, some dry weather

0:02:41 > 0:02:43but also some scattered showers for western areas.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46In the east is where we will see more shelter and drier conditions

0:02:46 > 0:02:49but temperatures a little below average for the time of year.

0:02:49 > 0:02:53Early next week things are still dominated by low-pressure

0:02:53 > 0:02:55bringing wind and rain at times.

0:02:55 > 0:02:59It looks towards the middle part of the week, Tuesday into Wednesday,

0:02:59 > 0:03:03low-pressure tends to edge off into east so a quieter brief

0:03:03 > 0:03:06interlude of weather through the middle of the week but late next

0:03:06 > 0:03:09week we're likely to see low-pressure returning from the Atlantic,

0:03:09 > 0:03:12probably towards the north-west of the UK, could be further south so it

0:03:12 > 0:03:15looks like things will turn unsettled later in the week once again.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17Through the course of next week,

0:03:17 > 0:03:22changeable weather on the cards, often spells of rain and wind.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25Some quieter interludes with the chance of chilly nights with

0:03:25 > 0:03:26a frost at times.

0:03:26 > 0:03:30Lots going on. We will keep you up-to-date right here.
