0:00:02 > 0:00:03Hello, there. The past weeks

0:00:03 > 0:00:06have brought us a drier and fairly settled spell of weather

0:00:06 > 0:00:07across much of the country.

0:00:07 > 0:00:11Things have been changing over the past couple of days, though.

0:00:11 > 0:00:13Through the rest of Easter, an unsettled story.

0:00:13 > 0:00:16Things often very windy, some heavy rain at times.

0:00:16 > 0:00:18There will be some sunshine on offer, I think

0:00:18 > 0:00:21particularly at times between the showers on Easter Day.

0:00:21 > 0:00:22But, what about Saturday morning?

0:00:22 > 0:00:24Well, we start off Saturday with wet and windy weather

0:00:24 > 0:00:27already across northern and western parts of the country.

0:00:27 > 0:00:28You can see this band of rain

0:00:28 > 0:00:31which will be working gradually eastwards across much of the

0:00:31 > 0:00:34country, bringing the heaviest of the rain and strongest of the winds

0:00:34 > 0:00:37probably across portions of England and Wales.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39Let's take a look at 3pm in the afternoon, then.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42We'll have some spells of heavy rain with strong, squally winds

0:00:42 > 0:00:44right across the south-west of England, much of Wales too.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47East Anglia and the South East holding on to cloudy

0:00:47 > 0:00:49but mainly dry conditions through much of the day.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51It will turn wet and windy increasingly later on.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54But the wind and the rain affecting much of northern England,

0:00:54 > 0:00:57southern Scotland too, and another band of heavy showers

0:00:57 > 0:00:59rattling in across Northern Ireland later in the day.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02So, really, wherever you are, the weather is looking blustery,

0:01:02 > 0:01:04unsettled, with spells of rain and strong winds.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07Through the course of Saturday evening and overnight, this band

0:01:07 > 0:01:11of rain and strong winds gradually pushes away towards the east.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13So we're going see a slightly quieter spell of weather

0:01:13 > 0:01:16to start off Easter Day, but quite soon, those showers get going,

0:01:16 > 0:01:19moving in from the west. And the showers on Easter Day, on Sunday,

0:01:19 > 0:01:23will be heavy at times with some hail, some thunder mixed in as well,

0:01:23 > 0:01:24some brightness in between the showers.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27So you're likely to see some glimpses of sunshine

0:01:27 > 0:01:308 to 12 degrees, feeling a little bit cooler than that

0:01:30 > 0:01:32with the squally winds and the showers around too.

0:01:32 > 0:01:34And then things get interesting once again,

0:01:34 > 0:01:36looking ahead now into Easter Monday.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38Storm Katie, it's been named by the Met Office,

0:01:38 > 0:01:41that's set to approach from the south-west, from the Atlantic.

0:01:41 > 0:01:42With the tight isobars around that storm,

0:01:42 > 0:01:44it is going to be a very windy day,

0:01:44 > 0:01:47for many places through the day on Easter Monday.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49So, particularly across England and Wales,

0:01:49 > 0:01:50we could have gales or even severe gales,

0:01:50 > 0:01:53especially around hills and coasts. Heavy rain too,

0:01:53 > 0:01:56pushing gradually northwards and eastwards across the country.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58Some slightly quieter weather for the likes of the West

0:01:58 > 0:02:01of Scotland and Northern Ireland, with some scattered showers.

0:02:01 > 0:02:04But it is looking like a blustery and unsettled day,

0:02:04 > 0:02:05really, wherever you are.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07So if you have got travel plans for Easter Monday,

0:02:07 > 0:02:10do be warned that combination of gales

0:02:10 > 0:02:13and heavy rain could lead to some travel disruption.

0:02:13 > 0:02:17Once we lose that storm system, Storm Katie moves off gradually

0:02:17 > 0:02:20towards the north-east and then we're left with a west or

0:02:20 > 0:02:24north-west airflow and that means, as we look ahead now into Tuesday,

0:02:24 > 0:02:26what we will see is another showery day.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28Some sunshine, some scattered showers around.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30Now, most of the showers should move through fairly

0:02:30 > 0:02:32quickly on the breeze through the day on Tuesday,

0:02:32 > 0:02:35so nothing particularly happy, but again it will feel a little

0:02:35 > 0:02:37bit cool, particularly where you are exposed to that breeze.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39And then heading into the middle of the week, some uncertainty.

0:02:39 > 0:02:43We've got a low pressure system not far away from southern areas.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45It looks like it will probably stay to the south of the UK

0:02:45 > 0:02:48but that is the potential this could be a little bit further north.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51But, in general, we are looking at a day of sunshine and showers,

0:02:51 > 0:02:53I think through the day on Wednesday.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56The wind's probably not quite as strong compared to Tuesday,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59so some of the showers could be fairly heavy at times.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02Late next week, though, after the unsettled conditions,

0:03:02 > 0:03:04it does look like high-pressure will move in for a time.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06So, as we look through Thursday and Friday,

0:03:06 > 0:03:09some slightly quieter weather, drier conditions but also with a risk of

0:03:09 > 0:03:12some chilly nights and a touch of frost possible late next week,

0:03:12 > 0:03:14with that higher pressure in charge.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16It does look like on into next weekend, eventually,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18that high-pressure will start to be eroded,

0:03:18 > 0:03:20so things will turn unsettled eventually,

0:03:20 > 0:03:25a little bit windier with some rain but also some sunshine at times too.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27Lots going on with the weather for the week ahead,

0:03:27 > 0:03:30we'll keep you updated right here. Bye-bye.
