0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello, thanks for tuning in.
0:00:04 > 0:00:06The weather's not looking great out there, is it?
0:00:06 > 0:00:09Lots of rain, strong winds too, and that's how it's going to remain
0:00:09 > 0:00:12for the rest of the Easter weekend and into most of next week as well.
0:00:12 > 0:00:15We'll see spells of wind and rain crossing the UK.
0:00:15 > 0:00:17In fact, Monday could be particularly stormy
0:00:17 > 0:00:20across the south-east of the country.
0:00:20 > 0:00:21Here's the jet stream and the clouds
0:00:21 > 0:00:24pushed in by the jet stream, or the weather system.
0:00:24 > 0:00:26You can see this dip in the jet stream here,
0:00:26 > 0:00:30areas of low pressure being spinned up there across the North Atlantic
0:00:30 > 0:00:33and hurled in our direction by this strong jet stream
0:00:33 > 0:00:36and Easter Monday itself is going to be a blustery one.
0:00:36 > 0:00:39We've got quite strong south-westerly winds across the UK.
0:00:39 > 0:00:41Initially, there'll be some showers in the morning
0:00:41 > 0:00:43across many western areas of the UK,
0:00:43 > 0:00:45then through the course of the afternoon,
0:00:45 > 0:00:46this strong south-westerly wind
0:00:46 > 0:00:48is going to push those showers further inland
0:00:48 > 0:00:50and also further east as well.
0:00:50 > 0:00:53Let's start the forecast for the afternoon.
0:00:53 > 0:00:55Easter Day, then, three o'clock in the south.
0:00:55 > 0:00:57You can see some sunshine around too,
0:00:57 > 0:00:59but these showers could be quite heavy.
0:00:59 > 0:01:00They could appear suddenly,
0:01:00 > 0:01:03there could be some hail and thunder as well and within,
0:01:03 > 0:01:06those winds will be particularly gusty, blustery,
0:01:06 > 0:01:09so temperatures of around six to ten degrees,
0:01:09 > 0:01:11really will feel quite chilly
0:01:11 > 0:01:14and plenty of those showers scattered around across Scotland
0:01:14 > 0:01:17and Northern Ireland as well, but if you're sheltered from the wind
0:01:17 > 0:01:19and you're in the sunshine, it shouldn't feel too bad at all.
0:01:19 > 0:01:22This is into Easter Monday itself,
0:01:22 > 0:01:24so Easter Day evening into Easter Monday.
0:01:24 > 0:01:26This is Storm Kate.
0:01:26 > 0:01:29It's been given a name because it could be quite a nasty storm
0:01:29 > 0:01:31and it does look as though at this stage,
0:01:31 > 0:01:33it's heading to southern parts of the UK,
0:01:33 > 0:01:35anywhere from central southern England,
0:01:35 > 0:01:36the south-east of England.
0:01:36 > 0:01:39We could have severe gales, so if you're travelling early,
0:01:39 > 0:01:40very early on Monday morning,
0:01:40 > 0:01:43just be aware that the conditions on the roads could be very nasty.
0:01:43 > 0:01:45These are the early hours
0:01:45 > 0:01:46of the morning on Easter Monday.
0:01:46 > 0:01:49Some very heavy rain. You can see where the gales are here.
0:01:49 > 0:01:51Not just round the coasts, but very windy inland too.
0:01:51 > 0:01:54By lunchtime, that storm blows itself out,
0:01:54 > 0:01:57it moves out into the North Sea and behind it, still a rush of wind,
0:01:57 > 0:01:59but at least there'll be some sunshine.
0:01:59 > 0:02:01So that's across the south of the country.
0:02:01 > 0:02:05Further north, certainly from north Midlands northwards,
0:02:05 > 0:02:09the weather's actually not looking bad at all on Easter Monday itself.
0:02:09 > 0:02:12Then Tuesday, another fairly breezy day.
0:02:12 > 0:02:13You can see the south-westerly winds,
0:02:13 > 0:02:16there'll be some showers around, perhaps the odd heavier one.
0:02:16 > 0:02:19On balance, a better day compared to Monday.
0:02:19 > 0:02:22At least, the morning will be,
0:02:22 > 0:02:24but still, not a completely dry one.
0:02:24 > 0:02:26Then the middle part of the week,
0:02:26 > 0:02:28we're sort of in between weather systems.
0:02:28 > 0:02:30This is Tuesday night into Wednesday.
0:02:30 > 0:02:32You can see fronts fairly close to the UK.
0:02:32 > 0:02:34So are the low pressures,
0:02:34 > 0:02:35so that basically means that Wednesday's
0:02:35 > 0:02:37kind of an in-betweeny day.
0:02:37 > 0:02:38There'll be some cloud around,
0:02:38 > 0:02:40there'll be one or two outbreaks of rain,
0:02:40 > 0:02:43but also plenty of dry weather in between,
0:02:43 > 0:02:45so the detail's pretty uncertain for Wednesday itself,
0:02:45 > 0:02:48but at least it doesn't look like it's going to be
0:02:48 > 0:02:51a complete wash-out and if anything, there'll be some sunshine.
0:02:51 > 0:02:53That fine, or hint of fine weather,
0:02:53 > 0:02:54actually continues into Thursday,
0:02:54 > 0:02:57this area of high pressure from the Azores builds,
0:02:57 > 0:02:58things settle down.
0:02:58 > 0:03:00The far north of the country, certainly northern Scotland
0:03:00 > 0:03:03and the Northern Isles, perhaps some rain and stronger winds,
0:03:03 > 0:03:06but for the rest of the UK, apart from the odd shower,
0:03:06 > 0:03:07it shouldn't be too bad,
0:03:07 > 0:03:10but weather fronts waiting out there in the Atlantic,
0:03:10 > 0:03:13heading our way, so that means that the end of the week ahead
0:03:13 > 0:03:17is looking pretty unsettled with further wind and rain
0:03:17 > 0:03:20and the longer-term outlook, so later next week,
0:03:20 > 0:03:22it does look as though high pressure will be close
0:03:22 > 0:03:24to eastern parts of the UK, where it might be more settled,
0:03:24 > 0:03:27but low pressures will be once again heading our way,
0:03:27 > 0:03:29so that means unsettled.
0:03:35 > 0:03:37The voice you're hearing is mine.
0:03:37 > 0:03:40It was recorded last night after I had a few pints.
0:03:40 > 0:03:43I'm doing this to show that...
0:03:43 > 0:03:46(slurs) alcohol takes so long to pass through me body.
0:03:46 > 0:03:50Even though I feel sober now, my body is still drunk.
