0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello. Thanks for tuning in to our extended outlook.
0:00:05 > 0:00:08A lot has been happening the last few days.
0:00:08 > 0:00:11Before we end Easter, we have Storm Katie on the way,
0:00:11 > 0:00:14potentially bringing disruptive weather on Monday morning.
0:00:14 > 0:00:16The good news is that the storm will swiftly move
0:00:16 > 0:00:19out into the North Sea later on Monday
0:00:19 > 0:00:22and the weather should dramatically improve during the day.
0:00:22 > 0:00:25Before that happens, the morning could be nasty, even some
0:00:25 > 0:00:29damaging winds affecting southern and south-eastern areas of England.
0:00:29 > 0:00:31This is what it looks like first thing in the morning,
0:00:31 > 0:00:35the hourly hours, an amber warning in force from the Met Office.
0:00:35 > 0:00:3870mph gusts possible across Hampshire, through Surrey
0:00:38 > 0:00:40into Sussex and Kent.
0:00:40 > 0:00:43Inland around Greater London and East Anglia,
0:00:43 > 0:00:4560mph gusts not out of the question.
0:00:45 > 0:00:47The winds will eventually die down in the afternoon but the storm
0:00:47 > 0:00:50will have a sting in its tail across parts of East Anglia.
0:00:50 > 0:00:52This is what it looks like on Monday afternoon.
0:00:52 > 0:00:55You can still see some showers in the South here,
0:00:55 > 0:00:59but a much improved picture, even some sunshine around.
0:00:59 > 0:01:00Although it looks as if it will be very
0:01:00 > 0:01:03windy for a time across Norfolk and Suffolk.
0:01:03 > 0:01:06But the rest of the UK, honestly, a completely different picture.
0:01:06 > 0:01:11Sunshine around, a few showers, much lighter winds so the stormy weather
0:01:11 > 0:01:13really is going to be affecting the South and the South East.
0:01:13 > 0:01:17For most of us, we're not going to be affected by Storm Katie.
0:01:17 > 0:01:22This is the overnight period so into the early hours of Tuesday,
0:01:22 > 0:01:24clearer skies, even some lighter winds here.
0:01:24 > 0:01:27A touch of frost possible across Scotland,
0:01:27 > 0:01:29Northern Ireland and northern England.
0:01:29 > 0:01:31The south of the country will start Tuesday with
0:01:31 > 0:01:33temperatures of around five or six degrees.
0:01:33 > 0:01:37Tuesday itself, relatively speaking the winds will be a lot lighter,
0:01:37 > 0:01:41although a fair old breeze blowing across the UK.
0:01:41 > 0:01:43It is going to be story of sunshine and showers.
0:01:43 > 0:01:46Let's have a look at the pressure chart on Tuesday itself.
0:01:46 > 0:01:48Here's the remnants of Storm Katie,
0:01:48 > 0:01:50moving across southern parts of Scandinavia.
0:01:50 > 0:01:53Low pressure still close by to the UK
0:01:53 > 0:01:56so that means not a completely dry day by any means.
0:01:56 > 0:01:58In fact, there will be showers, heavy ones,
0:01:58 > 0:01:59developing in one or two areas.
0:01:59 > 0:02:01I wouldn't rule out some thunder as well
0:02:01 > 0:02:03and the chance of more persistent rain
0:02:03 > 0:02:06in the afternoon across some southern areas of the UK.
0:02:06 > 0:02:08Temperatures really aren't going to change
0:02:08 > 0:02:10a lot through most of this week,
0:02:10 > 0:02:15about 8 or 9 in the North, 10 to just about 12 or 13 in the South.
0:02:15 > 0:02:18Here's the middle part of the week, it looks as though England
0:02:18 > 0:02:20and Wales will be a little bit drier, any showers that do brew
0:02:20 > 0:02:25on Wednesday, probably more likely across the northern half of the UK.
0:02:25 > 0:02:29Again, temperatures around 8 to, say, 11 to 13 degrees.
0:02:29 > 0:02:30Thursday will eventually dry out.
0:02:30 > 0:02:33We start to see high pressure building across the UK,
0:02:33 > 0:02:36not completely dry, wouldn't rule out a shower,
0:02:36 > 0:02:38but I think on balance not a bad day.
0:02:38 > 0:02:41As we head into Friday, it does look much better at this stage.
0:02:41 > 0:02:44It looks as though high pressure will
0:02:44 > 0:02:46develop across most of England so some sunshine here.
0:02:46 > 0:02:47That's not the case everywhere
0:02:47 > 0:02:50because across the north-west of the country, we have got wind and rain
0:02:50 > 0:02:54potentially sweeping into Northern Ireland and western Scotland.
0:02:54 > 0:02:55Exactly when the rain will arrive
0:02:55 > 0:02:58and how much there will be is still open to debate.
0:02:58 > 0:03:00That takes us into the weekend.
0:03:00 > 0:03:03Weather fronts quite possibly across some of the UK
0:03:03 > 0:03:05so be prepared for this coming weekend.
0:03:05 > 0:03:08Be prepared for some rain and, beyond that,
0:03:08 > 0:03:12low pressure close by to south-western areas of the UK.
0:03:12 > 0:03:13That spells some rain
0:03:13 > 0:03:15but high pressure could actually build close to the
0:03:15 > 0:03:20north-east of the UK so Scotland may end up having a fairly decent
0:03:20 > 0:03:22next weekend and beyond.
0:03:22 > 0:03:25So pressure builds, that is going to bring that settled weather in the
0:03:25 > 0:03:27north of the UK, but remember there
0:03:27 > 0:03:30is rain expected in the south-west. Bye-bye.
