0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. We'll get onto the forecast in a second, but we'll start off

0:00:06 > 0:00:08with a quick look back at what happened in March.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10We'll start with the rainfall amounts.

0:00:10 > 0:00:12Unusually, it was a bit drier

0:00:12 > 0:00:13than normal across some parts of northern England and Scotland.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15And equally unusually,

0:00:15 > 0:00:17that bit wetter than normal across much of England.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19Of course, it was quite stormy early and late in the month.

0:00:19 > 0:00:21Remember Storm Katie towards the end of March?

0:00:21 > 0:00:24But we settle things down through the middle of the month.

0:00:24 > 0:00:27High pressure to the east of the UK allowed temperatures to rise

0:00:27 > 0:00:29a little bit above normal across Scotland.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31But with a breeze coming in from the North Sea,

0:00:31 > 0:00:34central and eastern parts of England saw temperatures below normal.

0:00:34 > 0:00:38But, on Sunday afternoon we saw 17.2 degrees in Gravesend in Kent,

0:00:38 > 0:00:41and that made it the warmest day of the year so far in England.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44However, we're not going to see temperatures quite that high

0:00:44 > 0:00:45over the next few days

0:00:45 > 0:00:48because we're going to lose this southerly breeze

0:00:48 > 0:00:50and through the middle of the week, in particular,

0:00:50 > 0:00:52this west to north-westerly wind will bring some cooler air

0:00:52 > 0:00:54in from the North Atlantic.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56So that's one trend of the week ahead.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59Turning that bit cooler, maybe some night-time frost developing

0:00:59 > 0:01:00later on this week.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02And fairly unsettled, I suppose,

0:01:02 > 0:01:04with some showers in the forecast,

0:01:04 > 0:01:05but there'll be some sunshine as well.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08We've seen some pretty wet weather working north overnight.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10That will be getting into central

0:01:10 > 0:01:12and eastern Scotland for the morning rush hour.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15So not particularly pleasant on the roads through the central lowlands

0:01:15 > 0:01:17or to the eastern side of Scotland.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20Nor will it be that great on the eastern side of Northern Ireland.

0:01:20 > 0:01:22Showers through the morning across some parts of Wales,

0:01:22 > 0:01:25the south-west of England, some of those could be quite heavy.

0:01:25 > 0:01:27There might just be a little bit of rain clipping its way

0:01:27 > 0:01:29through Kent and East Anglia.

0:01:29 > 0:01:30But many parts of central

0:01:30 > 0:01:33and eastern England getting off to a reasonable start to the day.

0:01:33 > 0:01:34Cloudy for some, brighter for others.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36Generally, across England and Wales,

0:01:36 > 0:01:38it's going to be a day of sunny spells and showers.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41Some of the showers in the afternoon could be quite heavy with hail

0:01:41 > 0:01:43and some thunder, but a bit of sunshine in between.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46Limited sunshine in Scotland and Northern Ireland, more rain here.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48If you're stuck underneath that rain,

0:01:48 > 0:01:50temperatures may stay in single figures all day.

0:01:50 > 0:01:52You might get 13 or 14 degrees in the south-east

0:01:52 > 0:01:53with a bit of sunshine.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56By Tuesday, low pressure drifts away towards the north of the UK,

0:01:56 > 0:01:57takes most of its rain with it.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00There will still be some in northern Scotland, in particular.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02Dribs and drabs down into northern England.

0:02:02 > 0:02:04But most of that tends to become very light

0:02:04 > 0:02:05and patchy into the afternoon.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07Many places enjoying a reasonable afternoon bar the odd shower.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09We're dry virtually everywhere

0:02:09 > 0:02:11and temperatures will be around 11 or 12 degrees.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13That will be fairly typical.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15Tuesday night into Wednesday,

0:02:15 > 0:02:17we're looking out to the Atlantic for that change to develop.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20This weather front will be bringing some rain with it.

0:02:20 > 0:02:24Behind it, quite a lot of isobars. It will be quite a blustery day.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26As that rain moves over eastwards,

0:02:26 > 0:02:28brighter skies and showers follow,

0:02:28 > 0:02:30but that cooler air does come in as well.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33So for many, temperatures will be struggling to get

0:02:33 > 0:02:35much above eight or nine degrees.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37Another blustery day on Thursday.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40By this stage, the wind is coming down from the north and west.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42A lot of cloud on Thursday, a little bit of sunshine,

0:02:42 > 0:02:44but also some showers.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47Again, some places struggling to get into double figures.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50On towards the end of the week, we start to see this weather front

0:02:50 > 0:02:52drifting its way in from the Atlantic.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55It looks like we're going to see some developments taking place

0:02:55 > 0:02:57towards the south and west of UK.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59An area of low pressure looks like it will develop along that

0:02:59 > 0:03:02weather front and that's going to stick around into next weekend

0:03:02 > 0:03:04and even beyond into the following week.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07So a very slow-moving area of low pressure

0:03:07 > 0:03:09towards the south and west of the UK.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12That means that the southern half of the UK is most likely to see some

0:03:12 > 0:03:14cloud and outbreaks of rain.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16The further north you are, particularly in the north

0:03:16 > 0:03:19and west, it should be that bit drier and brighter.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21So the outlook into next weekend and beyond,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23keep things pretty unsettled.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25There will be some rain at times.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27Some drier spells as well and if you get some dry, clearer

0:03:27 > 0:03:30skies at night, it could turn quite chilly with a touch of frost.
