0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. We'll find differences north, south across the UK,

0:00:06 > 0:00:09but the overall weather pattern isn't really going to change

0:00:09 > 0:00:10a lot over the week ahead.

0:00:10 > 0:00:12Sunday sees rain

0:00:12 > 0:00:14across northern parts of the UK

0:00:14 > 0:00:15and to the south-west,

0:00:15 > 0:00:17where they'll be strong to gale force winds.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19Could lead to coastal flooding

0:00:19 > 0:00:21across southern parts of Cornwall.

0:00:21 > 0:00:23Elsewhere, most places will have

0:00:23 > 0:00:24a dry day with some sunshine.

0:00:24 > 0:00:28And the weather will improve in Scotland.

0:00:28 > 0:00:29it peters out through the day,

0:00:29 > 0:00:31so there'll be sunshine in the afternoon,

0:00:31 > 0:00:32particularly central belt southwards.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34After a chilly start

0:00:34 > 0:00:36in Northern Ireland and northern England,

0:00:36 > 0:00:38you can look forward to a lot of sunshine

0:00:38 > 0:00:39and dry weather on Sunday.

0:00:39 > 0:00:40There'll be sunshine across Wales,

0:00:40 > 0:00:43the Midlands to south-east England for a while,

0:00:43 > 0:00:45but it will cloud over a bit more.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47That's because we'll get rain developing

0:00:47 > 0:00:48across the south-west of England,

0:00:48 > 0:00:50across Hampshire maybe into south Wales.

0:00:50 > 0:00:52Lower temperatures here,

0:00:52 > 0:00:55but otherwise temperatures will be

0:00:55 > 0:00:57That rain that's developing

0:00:57 > 0:00:59in the south-west is rather sporadic.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01It just drifts northwards across Wales.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03Maybe the West Midlands overnight

0:01:03 > 0:01:05and into Northern Ireland for a time.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08But there'll be more cloud around Sunday night,

0:01:08 > 0:01:10more of a breeze as well. So it won't be as cold.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12Lowest temperatures will be

0:01:12 > 0:01:13in the glens of Scotland.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15The big driving force of the weather

0:01:15 > 0:01:17for the beginning of the week and beyond

0:01:17 > 0:01:19is this big area of low pressure.

0:01:19 > 0:01:21Around it, we've got these weather fronts

0:01:21 > 0:01:22rotating slowly.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24On the weather front, we'll find some rain.

0:01:24 > 0:01:25So it may affect

0:01:25 > 0:01:27Northern Ireland for a while,

0:01:27 > 0:01:28across parts of Wales,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30to the West Country towards Portsmouth.

0:01:30 > 0:01:31But some uncertainty

0:01:31 > 0:01:33about where that rain will come to rest.

0:01:33 > 0:01:34There could be more imported

0:01:34 > 0:01:36from the near continent as well.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38Looks likely that the Midlands northwards

0:01:38 > 0:01:40should be dry with sunshine.

0:01:40 > 0:01:42But there'll be a chilly wind off the north Sea,

0:01:42 > 0:01:43noticeable in eastern Scotland

0:01:43 > 0:01:45and north-east England.

0:01:45 > 0:01:46So, as we move into Tuesday,

0:01:46 > 0:01:48low pressure is stationary

0:01:48 > 0:01:49to the south-west of the UK.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51But these weather fronts are starting

0:01:51 > 0:01:52to push further north.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55So we end up with a three-way split.

0:01:55 > 0:01:56Scotland, Northern Ireland,

0:01:56 > 0:01:59somewhat drier, cold, easterly wind.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01We've got rain across the central areas.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03To the south, some sunshine,

0:02:03 > 0:02:05but that will give rise to quite a few showers,

0:02:05 > 0:02:08some of them heavy, potentially thundery.

0:02:08 > 0:02:09There's warmer air coming in

0:02:09 > 0:02:10from the near continent,

0:02:10 > 0:02:12so 15 or so in the south-east,

0:02:12 > 0:02:14noticeably colder in Scotland

0:02:14 > 0:02:16and the north-east of England.

0:02:16 > 0:02:17That wind still blowing

0:02:17 > 0:02:19across northern Scotland on Wednesday.

0:02:19 > 0:02:20The rain having pushed further north,

0:02:20 > 0:02:22could be wintry over the hills

0:02:22 > 0:02:24perhaps in Scotland's mountains.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26To the south, we've got higher temperatures

0:02:26 > 0:02:28triggering more showers,

0:02:28 > 0:02:31more downpours through the day, in particular.

0:02:31 > 0:02:32We end up with low pressure

0:02:32 > 0:02:35across more southern parts of the UK on Thursday,

0:02:35 > 0:02:37high pressure trying to nose in

0:02:37 > 0:02:39to the north and north-west.

0:02:39 > 0:02:40So here, across Scotland,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42later Northern Ireland, maybe northern England,

0:02:42 > 0:02:44it should turn drier, brighter,

0:02:44 > 0:02:46some sunshine, but quite cold.

0:02:46 > 0:02:47We're left with wetter conditions

0:02:47 > 0:02:49across the southern half of the UK

0:02:49 > 0:02:50where it's somewhat milder.

0:02:50 > 0:02:52So, a familiar theme.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55And that pattern will continue into the outlook as well.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57Colder air across the north,

0:02:57 > 0:03:00with winds swirling around that low pressure in the south-west.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02And there's milder air from the near continent.

0:03:02 > 0:03:05That will try and push in to southern parts of the UK at times,

0:03:05 > 0:03:09but we'll hang onto that cold easterly wind across the north.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12So you can see the differences we've got

0:03:12 > 0:03:13in those maximum temperatures

0:03:13 > 0:03:16as we look towards next weekend.

0:03:16 > 0:03:17Put some words on that.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19It's still very unsettled, some showers,

0:03:19 > 0:03:21longer spells of rain, some sunshine,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23chilly nights across the north,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25somewhat milder conditions across the south.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28And the milder boundary may push further north

0:03:28 > 0:03:30by the end of next weekend.
