0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello again. It's an interesting week ahead.

0:00:04 > 0:00:07We've got a battle taking place between high and low pressure,

0:00:07 > 0:00:09warm air and colder air.

0:00:09 > 0:00:11This is how we start the week,

0:00:11 > 0:00:13with this band of rain,

0:00:13 > 0:00:14this showery rain,

0:00:14 > 0:00:16roughly this sort of position.

0:00:16 > 0:00:18The pivot point is across Wales,

0:00:18 > 0:00:19so we'll see the rain continuing

0:00:19 > 0:00:21here, but maybe edging back

0:00:21 > 0:00:22to the southeast,

0:00:22 > 0:00:24moving away from Northern Ireland.

0:00:24 > 0:00:25For Scotland, in the west,

0:00:25 > 0:00:27there will be some warm sunshine.

0:00:27 > 0:00:28For the eastern side,

0:00:28 > 0:00:29there will be the onshore breeze.

0:00:29 > 0:00:30A lot of low cloud

0:00:30 > 0:00:32and maybe one or two spots of drizzle,

0:00:32 > 0:00:34so much colder here. As the rain moves away

0:00:34 > 0:00:36and the sun comes out in Northern Ireland,

0:00:36 > 0:00:38it will feel warmer and there will be some

0:00:38 > 0:00:40warm sunshine across the northwest of England.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42Ahead of the rain, 15 degrees possible

0:00:42 > 0:00:45in London, but we've got this showery rain

0:00:45 > 0:00:46edging back into the southeast,

0:00:46 > 0:00:48late afternoon into the evening,

0:00:48 > 0:00:49pushing into the Midlands,

0:00:49 > 0:00:50still on and off across Wales.

0:00:50 > 0:00:51A little bit brighter,

0:00:51 > 0:00:52with the odd shower

0:00:52 > 0:00:54for the southwest of England,

0:00:54 > 0:00:55but not as windy as Sunday.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57The stronger winds are further north

0:00:57 > 0:00:59an easterly breeze ahead of this rain.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01This rain will edge its way northwards

0:01:01 > 0:01:03across England and Wales,

0:01:03 > 0:01:04up towards southern Scotland

0:01:04 > 0:01:06and back into Northern Ireland.

0:01:06 > 0:01:07Not too cold overnight.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09Should about escape a frost.

0:01:09 > 0:01:11Typically six or seven in the

0:01:11 > 0:01:12towns and cities.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14The major driver of the weather

0:01:14 > 0:01:16for the start of the week is this low pressure -

0:01:16 > 0:01:18it's a long way away but it's a bit one -

0:01:18 > 0:01:20and around it we're spiralling these

0:01:20 > 0:01:21weather fronts and bands of rain.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23On Tuesday, the rain is a bit further north -

0:01:23 > 0:01:25Northern Ireland, southern Scotland,

0:01:25 > 0:01:26northern England -

0:01:26 > 0:01:28a lot of low cloud as well. South of it,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30some sunshine. Much lighter winds.

0:01:30 > 0:01:31Then we're going to pop off some

0:01:31 > 0:01:33heavy thundery downpours.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35Very hit and miss. Here's where we've got

0:01:35 > 0:01:36the highest temperatures,

0:01:36 > 0:01:39whereas across northern England, Scotland,

0:01:39 > 0:01:40Northern Ireland we're struggling

0:01:40 > 0:01:42to make double figures

0:01:42 > 0:01:43and a keener wind blowing too.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45Tuesday into Wednesday,

0:01:45 > 0:01:47the low pressure is still there,

0:01:47 > 0:01:49the weather front is roughly

0:01:49 > 0:01:51in the same sort of place.

0:01:51 > 0:01:52The rain coming and going

0:01:52 > 0:01:54across southern Scotland, Northern Ireland

0:01:54 > 0:01:55and northern England.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57Maybe it's a little bit further south,

0:01:57 > 0:01:59but in more southern parts of England,

0:01:59 > 0:02:02sunshine triggering some more thundery downpours

0:02:02 > 0:02:03and it's here we'll see

0:02:03 > 0:02:05the highest temperatures.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07Still that contrast between mid-teens

0:02:07 > 0:02:10to something nearer eight or nine

0:02:10 > 0:02:11for northern England, Scotland

0:02:11 > 0:02:13and perhaps northern Ireland.

0:02:13 > 0:02:14We're going to find that

0:02:14 > 0:02:15colder air sinking southwards

0:02:15 > 0:02:16later on in the week.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18Northerly breeze,

0:02:18 > 0:02:19so any of this showery rain will

0:02:19 > 0:02:21push down towards southern parts

0:02:21 > 0:02:22of England and Wales,

0:02:22 > 0:02:24maybe into the Midlands,

0:02:24 > 0:02:25and temperatures start to

0:02:25 > 0:02:26drop off from the north.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29That's because the low pressure is retreating,

0:02:29 > 0:02:32high pressure is toppling in from the Atlantic

0:02:32 > 0:02:33and around that high pressure

0:02:33 > 0:02:35we draw down a northerly breeze,

0:02:35 > 0:02:37dragging in the cooler air.

0:02:37 > 0:02:38Stronger wind down those North Sea

0:02:38 > 0:02:40coasts on Friday,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42one or two showers, but some sunshine.

0:02:42 > 0:02:44Most places will be dry,

0:02:44 > 0:02:45but temperatures only seven degrees

0:02:45 > 0:02:47in Newcastle, for example.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49Now let's head further afield,

0:02:49 > 0:02:50into the weekend,

0:02:50 > 0:02:52and the high pressure is going to

0:02:52 > 0:02:55exert its influence over the weekend,

0:02:55 > 0:02:57keeping it generally fine and dry,

0:02:57 > 0:02:59but the nights will be quite chilly

0:02:59 > 0:03:00as well.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02We've got some milder air

0:03:02 > 0:03:03not far away and, at one stage,

0:03:03 > 0:03:04it looked like the milder air

0:03:04 > 0:03:06was going to come our way.

0:03:06 > 0:03:07But over the weekend,

0:03:07 > 0:03:09it's the colder air that will remain

0:03:09 > 0:03:10across the UK,

0:03:10 > 0:03:12but it will be largely dry.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14Looking further ahead,

0:03:14 > 0:03:15the high pressure could retreat

0:03:15 > 0:03:17back into the Atlantic,

0:03:17 > 0:03:18allowing that low pressure

0:03:18 > 0:03:19that was in the southwest

0:03:19 > 0:03:21to come closer to the UK.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23Not all the computer models agree,

0:03:23 > 0:03:24but if that happens,

0:03:24 > 0:03:25it will turn milder,

0:03:25 > 0:03:26but it will turn wetter,

0:03:26 > 0:03:28particularly for the western side

0:03:28 > 0:03:30of the UK. Goodbye.
