0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. Over the past few days, temperatures have been on the mild

0:00:06 > 0:00:08if not the warm side, particularly across southern parts.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10We've had 18 degrees.

0:00:10 > 0:00:11During Thursday afternoon,

0:00:11 > 0:00:1317 for southern areas.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15Contrast that to 6 or 7 degrees

0:00:15 > 0:00:17across Scotland.

0:00:17 > 0:00:20So big contrasts in temperatures.

0:00:20 > 0:00:21Over the next few days,

0:00:21 > 0:00:23that colder air in the north

0:00:23 > 0:00:26will filter its way south,

0:00:26 > 0:00:28through the weekend, we'll all be

0:00:28 > 0:00:30in that colder air mass

0:00:30 > 0:00:32by the time we get to Saturday.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34Typically 8 or 9 degrees.

0:00:34 > 0:00:35Could be warmer in the south,

0:00:35 > 0:00:38where we do see longer spells of sunshine.

0:00:38 > 0:00:39Let's look at Friday.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42We've got two weather fronts,

0:00:42 > 0:00:43one moving southwards

0:00:43 > 0:00:46across northern parts of the country.

0:00:46 > 0:00:48The other will be moving its way northwards

0:00:48 > 0:00:51across southern parts of England and Wales,

0:00:51 > 0:00:53so a pincer action with those fronts on Friday.

0:00:53 > 0:00:56Some outbreaks of rain could be heavy and thundery,

0:00:56 > 0:00:59particularly across southern and eastern parts.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02Further north, we've got this front

0:01:02 > 0:01:04bringing rain and hill snow,

0:01:04 > 0:01:05even snow to lower levels.

0:01:05 > 0:01:0814 degrees or so still possible in the south,

0:01:08 > 0:01:10so we're holding on to that warmer weather.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13In the north, it's more like 6 or 7.

0:01:13 > 0:01:14So a real contrast.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17As we move into Saturday,

0:01:17 > 0:01:20we've still got wintry showers across Scotland,

0:01:20 > 0:01:21so further accumulations of snow.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24A cold night ahead with a sharp frost,

0:01:24 > 0:01:26particularly for Northern Ireland,

0:01:26 > 0:01:29northern England and Scotland.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31There could be frost further south as well.

0:01:31 > 0:01:33Things will quieten down.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35We've still got fronts lingering in the east,

0:01:35 > 0:01:39but higher pressure builds in from the Atlantic.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41So wintry showers likely across Scotland,

0:01:41 > 0:01:42and some rain showers

0:01:42 > 0:01:45right down the east coast of England,

0:01:45 > 0:01:48but things will turn drier and brighter

0:01:48 > 0:01:50from the west so, for many areas,

0:01:50 > 0:01:52it is looking like a dry and bright day,

0:01:52 > 0:01:55although temperatures much cooler than recently,

0:01:55 > 0:01:576 to 10 degrees on Saturday.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59No great change into Sunday,

0:01:59 > 0:02:02as we see that high pressure still in charge,

0:02:02 > 0:02:04moving its way in from the Atlantic

0:02:04 > 0:02:07and keeping the weather reasonably quiet.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09Could be a chilly start on Sunday,

0:02:09 > 0:02:11with mist, possibly fog and frost.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13That clears away quickly to leave

0:02:13 > 0:02:15a largely dry day with sunny spells,

0:02:15 > 0:02:17cloud building towards the northwest,

0:02:17 > 0:02:20where there could be some outbreaks of rain.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22Temperatures perhaps a degree or so warmer

0:02:22 > 0:02:24than Saturday - 9 to 13 Celsius.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27On into Monday, it's still high pressure

0:02:27 > 0:02:30in charge, so for most, Monday is another dry day,

0:02:30 > 0:02:32and after overnight mist and frost,

0:02:32 > 0:02:34we're likely to see sunny spells

0:02:34 > 0:02:37and temperatures back into double figures.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39That high pressure sticks with us

0:02:39 > 0:02:41on into Tuesday.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43There is low pressure around the Bay of Biscay,

0:02:43 > 0:02:46and that will bring unsettled weather

0:02:46 > 0:02:49later in the week, but Tuesday looks to be

0:02:49 > 0:02:50another largely dry day

0:02:50 > 0:02:53and after a chilly start, sunny spells, light winds,

0:02:53 > 0:02:5515 degrees, cooler for northeast England

0:02:55 > 0:02:57and eastern Scotland.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59It looks like the high pressure

0:02:59 > 0:03:01in charge in the middle of the week

0:03:01 > 0:03:03will nudge its way northwards

0:03:03 > 0:03:05and eastwards, keeping things

0:03:05 > 0:03:06dry and settled for many northern

0:03:06 > 0:03:08and north-eastern areas,

0:03:08 > 0:03:10but that will allow low pressure

0:03:10 > 0:03:11to move in from the southwest

0:03:11 > 0:03:14towards the latter part of the week.

0:03:14 > 0:03:15Some uncertainty about the detail,

0:03:15 > 0:03:17but we will see the return

0:03:17 > 0:03:19to more unsettled conditions,

0:03:19 > 0:03:21after the dry middle of the week,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23spells of rain returning

0:03:23 > 0:03:24and after a reasonably mild

0:03:24 > 0:03:25middle part of the week,

0:03:25 > 0:03:27temperatures will decline.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29We'll keep you up to date here.
