0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello there. As we are heading into the final day of April,

0:00:05 > 0:00:07we're finally ending this prolonged cold spell

0:00:07 > 0:00:10that's really been in charge through the second half of the month.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13During the bank holiday weekend things will be turning milder

0:00:13 > 0:00:15so less cold than it has been. Some sunshine on offer

0:00:15 > 0:00:18but it wouldn't be a bank holiday weekend with a bit of rain

0:00:18 > 0:00:21in the forecast, particularly I think on Sunday and Monday too.

0:00:21 > 0:00:23Let's take a look at Saturday first off.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25We've got an area of high pressure

0:00:25 > 0:00:26building in from the south-west

0:00:26 > 0:00:28so quietening down the weather

0:00:28 > 0:00:30after all those wintry showers that we've seen.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32Still a few showers to the west of Scotland

0:00:32 > 0:00:34but they'll be falling mainly as rain.

0:00:34 > 0:00:36Sunny, dry and chilly further east across Scotland.

0:00:36 > 0:00:38A few showers also affecting

0:00:38 > 0:00:40Northern Ireland, into north-west England

0:00:40 > 0:00:42and the far north of Wales too,

0:00:42 > 0:00:43but elsewhere across England and Wales

0:00:43 > 0:00:45it's a dry start to the day,

0:00:45 > 0:00:46some pockets of frost and

0:00:46 > 0:00:48a few misty patches here and there

0:00:48 > 0:00:49but they will clear away quickly

0:00:49 > 0:00:52and the sunshine will actually start to warm things up

0:00:52 > 0:00:54fairly quickly after that chilly start.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56Lighter winds than we've seen recently

0:00:56 > 0:00:57so not a bad day.

0:00:57 > 0:00:58Plenty of dry and fine weather

0:00:58 > 0:01:00but there will be showers building,

0:01:00 > 0:01:02particularly for some central and eastern areas

0:01:02 > 0:01:04as we head through into the afternoon.

0:01:04 > 0:01:05Some of them could be heavy,

0:01:05 > 0:01:06a chance of some hail, some thunder,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08but any wintriness on those showers

0:01:08 > 0:01:10really confined to the highest ground

0:01:10 > 0:01:12in the North and temperatures for most places

0:01:12 > 0:01:14back into double figures,

0:01:14 > 0:01:1514 degrees or so in London.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18Then on into the second half of the weekend,

0:01:18 > 0:01:20it looks like things will turn milder still

0:01:20 > 0:01:21with the approach of this frontal system

0:01:21 > 0:01:23coming in from the Atlantic.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25It will bring some wind and some rain at times

0:01:25 > 0:01:27but it will also draw in a milder flow of air

0:01:27 > 0:01:29from the south-west, so finally

0:01:29 > 0:01:31we're losing those blue colours from the map,

0:01:31 > 0:01:33being replaced by yellow colours,

0:01:33 > 0:01:35indicating milder conditions

0:01:35 > 0:01:37heading in from the south-west.

0:01:37 > 0:01:38So it is turning milder on Sunday

0:01:38 > 0:01:40but we've got a front bringing outbreaks

0:01:40 > 0:01:42of rain, initially to north-western areas,

0:01:42 > 0:01:44heading south-eastwards through the day,

0:01:44 > 0:01:46but I think the far south-east of England,

0:01:46 > 0:01:48East Anglia too, probably remaining dry

0:01:48 > 0:01:50through much of the day and we could see

0:01:50 > 0:01:51temperatures up to 16 degrees,

0:01:51 > 0:01:53pretty much where they should be

0:01:53 > 0:01:54for this time of year.

0:01:54 > 0:01:55Then on into bank holiday Monday,

0:01:55 > 0:01:57we've got a frontal system again.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59This time it's affecting central

0:01:59 > 0:02:01and south-eastern parts of England in particular,

0:02:01 > 0:02:03bringing a spell of rain, wind too.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06That'll be followed by sunshine, scattered showers,

0:02:06 > 0:02:09and highs around 11 to 16 degrees.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11Now, looking ahead, into the middle part

0:02:11 > 0:02:12of the week, on into Tuesday,

0:02:12 > 0:02:14we've got high pressure sitting out

0:02:14 > 0:02:15to the south-west of the UK,

0:02:15 > 0:02:17the winds rotating around that area

0:02:17 > 0:02:18of high pressure, so the winds, again,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20coming in from a milder direction

0:02:20 > 0:02:21than they have been recently.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23On Tuesday a westerly airflow

0:02:23 > 0:02:25brings a fairly fresh feel to the day

0:02:25 > 0:02:27but sunshine, scattered showers,

0:02:27 > 0:02:28not too bad at all.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30Highs up to around about 15 Celsius.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32Most places dry but there will be a few showers

0:02:32 > 0:02:34blown in more particularly for northern

0:02:34 > 0:02:36and western fringes of the country.

0:02:36 > 0:02:37On into Wednesday, then.

0:02:37 > 0:02:38Much of England and Wales starts off dry

0:02:38 > 0:02:40and fine, with some sunshine.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42There will be a front affecting the north-west of the country,

0:02:42 > 0:02:44so some wind and some rain at times

0:02:44 > 0:02:46is possible in parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48Ahead of that 15 degrees or so.

0:02:48 > 0:02:49Then, as we have a look

0:02:49 > 0:02:51through the latter part of next week,

0:02:51 > 0:02:52well, things are looking a bit more mobile

0:02:52 > 0:02:54which means we'll be able

0:02:54 > 0:02:55to see low pressure systems

0:02:55 > 0:02:56moving in from the Atlantic,

0:02:56 > 0:02:58making their way across the UK,

0:02:58 > 0:03:00but we have high pressure holding on

0:03:00 > 0:03:02towards the south-east, so it looks like with that

0:03:02 > 0:03:04south-westerly airflow the wettest

0:03:04 > 0:03:05and the windiest of the conditions

0:03:05 > 0:03:08will really be across the north-western half of the country.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10Drier and slightly brighter weather

0:03:10 > 0:03:11in general towards the south-east,

0:03:11 > 0:03:13although there could still be

0:03:13 > 0:03:14a few thundery showers moving in

0:03:14 > 0:03:16on that south-westerly breeze.

0:03:16 > 0:03:17So really, as we look through

0:03:17 > 0:03:18the first part of May,

0:03:18 > 0:03:20things are looking less cold

0:03:20 > 0:03:21than they have been.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23There'll be some rain around at times,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25often fairly windy in the West.

0:03:25 > 0:03:26Have a good bank holiday weekend.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29Most places should see some sunshine for at least one of the days.

0:03:29 > 0:03:30Bye-bye.
