0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. How long will this warm weather last?

0:00:04 > 0:00:07Well, as always, it does depend on where you live.

0:00:07 > 0:00:10There will be some more warm sunshine over the next few days,

0:00:10 > 0:00:12but by next weekend, pretty much all of us

0:00:12 > 0:00:14will be significantly cooler.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17These are the values we saw on Sunday, widely over 20 Celsius,

0:00:17 > 0:00:1927 in the capital, highest temperature recorded

0:00:19 > 0:00:21in the UK since last August.

0:00:21 > 0:00:25Next weekend will be at or actually a touch below

0:00:25 > 0:00:28the average maximum temperatures for May.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31It is going to feel an awful lot cooler.

0:00:31 > 0:00:31Why so warm at the moment?

0:00:31 > 0:00:34Simply because we're drawing our air up from the Mediterranean.

0:00:34 > 0:00:38South-easterly winds created by a swirl

0:00:38 > 0:00:39out to the west of Iberia.

0:00:39 > 0:00:40This area of low pressure

0:00:40 > 0:00:42has brought a cool and showery weekend

0:00:42 > 0:00:43through Spain and Portugal,

0:00:43 > 0:00:46and it's just nudging a little closer,

0:00:46 > 0:00:48meaning this weather front creeping its way in -

0:00:48 > 0:00:50the start of the change.

0:00:50 > 0:00:52Certainly, on Monday, it'll be much cooler

0:00:52 > 0:00:54across the south-west under that weather front,

0:00:54 > 0:00:55bringing some showers,

0:00:55 > 0:00:57some of which could be on the heavy side.

0:00:57 > 0:00:59Some of those showers for South Wales

0:00:59 > 0:01:00and, particularly later in the day,

0:01:00 > 0:01:03across south-east England. Elsewhere, though, for most,

0:01:03 > 0:01:05another cracking day with plenty of sunshine.

0:01:05 > 0:01:06Still a brisk easterly wind,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08which means those North Sea coasts

0:01:08 > 0:01:09could be a little misty

0:01:09 > 0:01:11and certainly will again be on the cool side.

0:01:11 > 0:01:12But it means, to the west,

0:01:12 > 0:01:14temperatures could reach 25 degrees

0:01:14 > 0:01:16in the Highlands of Scotland.

0:01:16 > 0:01:18As I said, quite a bit cooler across the south-west

0:01:18 > 0:01:19from that weather front,

0:01:19 > 0:01:22which is still the dominant feature during Tuesday.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25It gets a bit of a kick during Tuesday,

0:01:25 > 0:01:26as this low pressure system

0:01:26 > 0:01:28just gives it a bit of a bump.

0:01:28 > 0:01:29It means that the rain

0:01:29 > 0:01:32could be pretty intense in some places on Tuesday.

0:01:32 > 0:01:33That's something we'll need to watch

0:01:33 > 0:01:35as it spins its way across southern parts of the UK.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37A few showers in northern England,

0:01:37 > 0:01:39but much of northern Britain dry and fine

0:01:39 > 0:01:42and, again, pretty warm over the Highlands, 23 degrees.

0:01:42 > 0:01:43Elsewhere, I think most of us

0:01:43 > 0:01:45will be back into the teens,

0:01:45 > 0:01:47but for many, that's still above average

0:01:47 > 0:01:48for the time of the year.

0:01:48 > 0:01:50That weather front then becomes the question mark

0:01:50 > 0:01:52during the middle of the week -

0:01:52 > 0:01:53just how far north is it going to get?

0:01:53 > 0:01:55It's all very slow moving, so it does make

0:01:55 > 0:01:58a big difference if you're stuck under that rain band.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00Some places just have a very wet day.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03To the south of it, there will be some heavy showers,

0:02:03 > 0:02:04but there could also be some brightness

0:02:04 > 0:02:07and still warm air, so temperatures, with a bit of sun,

0:02:07 > 0:02:09could get back over 20 Celsius.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11Still pretty warm across the south of Scotland

0:02:11 > 0:02:12and Northern Ireland,

0:02:12 > 0:02:14but obviously, a lot cooler again on the east coast

0:02:14 > 0:02:16and stuck under that weather front.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18More of a general change through midweek.

0:02:18 > 0:02:19Low pressure systems

0:02:19 > 0:02:21starting to move up across Central Europe

0:02:21 > 0:02:23and that just tilts the isobars,

0:02:23 > 0:02:25which means the winds are no longer,

0:02:25 > 0:02:27by Thursday, coming from the south-east,

0:02:27 > 0:02:29more coming from the north-east,

0:02:29 > 0:02:31and that has a big impact.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33Again, a lot of dry weather across northern Britain,

0:02:33 > 0:02:36but it will be feeling cooler as those winds turn

0:02:36 > 0:02:38from a north-easterly to more of a northerly,

0:02:38 > 0:02:41bringing down colder air for the end of the week.

0:02:41 > 0:02:45Not as cold as it was a week or so ago,

0:02:45 > 0:02:48but it will still be noticeable,

0:02:48 > 0:02:50as we go towards Friday and the weekend,

0:02:50 > 0:02:52with those temperatures back closer to

0:02:52 > 0:02:53or even, in some places,

0:02:53 > 0:02:54below average for the time of year.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56Sprinkling of showers across the south,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59but for many, it will be dry and, as high pressure continues to topple in

0:02:59 > 0:03:02through next weekend, the early part of the following week,

0:03:02 > 0:03:04there will be still a lot of dry and bright weather to be had.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06But follow the isobars pointing due north,

0:03:06 > 0:03:12so bringing down pretty chilly air through next weekend and beyond.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15Temperatures much lower than they have been this weekend.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17A little below average for the time of year.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20There'll be plenty of sunshine around, but there will still also be

0:03:20 > 0:03:21a sprinkling of showers.

0:03:21 > 0:03:24We'll continue to monitor it and keep you updated.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26As always, there's plenty more information -

0:03:26 > 0:03:29bbc.co.uk/weather. Goodbye.
