0:00:05 > 0:00:16and I have to say that since we launched Weather Watchers
0:00:16 > 0:00:17from the Highlands of Scotland
0:00:17 > 0:00:22just showed how lovely it was across northern areas
0:00:22 > 0:00:24and some rather nasty driving conditions
0:00:24 > 0:00:26across the heart of the Midlands, for example,
0:00:26 > 0:00:28and we'll keep those contrasts going through Wednesday
0:00:28 > 0:00:30with further heavy, slow-moving downpours
0:00:30 > 0:00:32across the southern half of the country.
0:00:32 > 0:00:34Some showers early on for Northern Ireland too,
0:00:34 > 0:00:37but in general, the further north you are across the country,
0:00:37 > 0:00:42it will be drier, it will be brighter and warmer,
0:00:42 > 0:00:44the Western Highlands could well see the highest temperatures
0:00:44 > 0:00:46on Wednesday, 23 degrees here,
0:00:46 > 0:00:48but as we've seen in recent days,
0:00:48 > 0:00:50if you are exposed to that easterly breeze off the North Sea,
0:00:50 > 0:00:52it will be a good deal cooler,
0:00:52 > 0:00:58but a sunny day for Scotland again.
0:00:58 > 0:00:59This is four o'clock.
0:00:59 > 0:01:03Some brightness developing across the heart of the Midlands,
0:01:03 > 0:01:06as there will be some heavy, slow-moving downpours developing,
0:01:06 > 0:01:12particularly across southern parts of England and Wales.
0:01:12 > 0:01:19any brightness close to 20 degrees.
0:01:19 > 0:01:21they become increasingly confined
0:01:21 > 0:01:22to the more south-western areas,
0:01:22 > 0:01:24tending to drift away in this direction.
0:01:24 > 0:01:27In most places, actually, we'll have a fine day on Thursday,
0:01:27 > 0:01:29with plenty of sunshine.
0:01:29 > 0:01:30It will feel quite warm in those sunny spells,
0:01:30 > 0:01:34particularly across more southern areas. 24 degrees there in London.
0:01:34 > 0:01:35At the other end of the UK, though,
0:01:35 > 0:01:37we have an approaching weather front.
0:01:37 > 0:01:38There it is, it's a cold front,
0:01:38 > 0:01:40it will do what it says on the tin -
0:01:40 > 0:01:43it will introduce chillier air behind it.
0:01:43 > 0:01:45It's heading in a southerly direction
0:01:45 > 0:01:47and we'll see a shot of Arctic air
0:01:47 > 0:01:49coming down behind that cold front
0:01:49 > 0:01:50as we head towards the weekend.
0:01:50 > 0:01:52Quite a shock to the system, I think,
0:01:52 > 0:01:55after several days of warmth in many places.
0:01:55 > 0:01:58That northerly will bring not only some blustery winds,
0:01:58 > 0:01:59but also some showers,
0:01:59 > 0:02:01particularly down eastern coastal areas for a time
0:02:01 > 0:02:02as we start the weekend.
0:02:02 > 0:02:05Most other places, though, actually will see plenty of dry
0:02:05 > 0:02:08and bright weather, particularly the further south and west we go.
0:02:08 > 0:02:11Temperatures, though, not as high as they have been recently.
0:02:11 > 0:02:13It's a similar picture, actually, on Sunday -
0:02:13 > 0:02:15still the odd shower, perhaps, near the North Sea coast
0:02:15 > 0:02:17and still a bit of a breeze here,
0:02:17 > 0:02:18but most other places,
0:02:18 > 0:02:19plenty of sunshine and light winds
0:02:19 > 0:02:21and despite the fact the temperatures
0:02:21 > 0:02:24don't look all that high, it shouldn't feel too bad.
0:02:24 > 0:02:27Some cold nights, though, so if you're planning anything outdoors,
0:02:27 > 0:02:30overnight it will be cold, close to freezing,
0:02:30 > 0:02:32but by day, with lots of lovely sunshine,
0:02:32 > 0:02:34although 15 doesn't look all that high,
0:02:34 > 0:02:37with light winds, it shouldn't feel too bad.
0:02:37 > 0:02:40Through the early part of next week, we lose the blues,
0:02:40 > 0:02:43there will be a warming trend day by day.
0:02:43 > 0:02:46You can see the chart turning increasingly yellow,
0:02:46 > 0:02:47if not orange.
0:02:47 > 0:02:50Dry to start with through next week,
0:02:50 > 0:02:51but we'll have to keep our eye
0:02:51 > 0:02:53on developments out in the Atlantic.
0:02:53 > 0:02:57There are fronts, low-pressure systems out here lying in wait
0:02:57 > 0:03:00and for them to reach our shores depends on the jet stream.
0:03:00 > 0:03:02It does look as if the jet stream will start to wake up
0:03:02 > 0:03:05later on next week and send areas of low pressure in our direction.
0:03:05 > 0:03:08The timing on that is still quite uncertain,
0:03:08 > 0:03:10but, eventually, later next week,
0:03:10 > 0:03:12it does look like turning rather more unsettled
0:03:12 > 0:03:14with some rain on the horizon.
0:03:14 > 0:03:18To sum up next week, it looks like a fine start and feeling a bit warmer.
0:03:18 > 0:03:22Rain on the way, it's just a question of how quickly
0:03:22 > 0:03:24that rain arrives later on next week.
0:03:24 > 0:03:27So some uncertainty and hopefully I'll clarify that
0:03:27 > 0:03:29and I'll see you again tomorrow.
