0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. A different weather story for the week ahead,

0:00:04 > 0:00:06compared to the week we've just had.

0:00:06 > 0:00:09Last week, our winds generally came from an east or south-easterly

0:00:09 > 0:00:11direction, that means the highest of the temperatures were to the west.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14The warmest of the week was Plockton in the Highlands - 28 Celsius,

0:00:14 > 0:00:1682 Fahrenheit, on Monday.

0:00:16 > 0:00:19But from Tuesday onwards, those easterly winds off a chilly sea

0:00:19 > 0:00:22meant across the Lincolnshire coast, we never got above 12 Celsius.

0:00:22 > 0:00:23And with easterly winds,

0:00:23 > 0:00:26it meant low pressure was closer to the south.

0:00:26 > 0:00:28Cardiff, our wettest spot with over two inches of rain.

0:00:28 > 0:00:30The week ahead is the reverse.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32We've got the winds generally coming in from a west

0:00:32 > 0:00:33or south-westerly direction.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36That does mean the wetter weather will be to the north and west,

0:00:36 > 0:00:38the sunnier conditions to the south and the east.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41But even here, we'll see a bit of rain.

0:00:41 > 0:00:42Not too much rain to begin with.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45Still be quite a chilly morning on Monday, but after a

0:00:45 > 0:00:48sunny start, like Sunday, a bit more cloud bubbling up in the afternoon.

0:00:48 > 0:00:50The thickest of the cloud northern Scotland.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53A few showers here, isolated showers to eastern England,

0:00:53 > 0:00:55but the winds starting to go to north-westerly by this date

0:00:55 > 0:00:58so temperatures not as low as they were through the weekend

0:00:58 > 0:01:00and elsewhere in the sunshine.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02It actually feels pleasantly warm,

0:01:02 > 0:01:04temperatures up into the mid to high teens.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07Another cool night will follow across southern areas into Tuesday.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09This is where the clearest of the skies will be.

0:01:09 > 0:01:11More cloud generally further north.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13Still some spots of rain in northern parts of Scotland,

0:01:13 > 0:01:15but generally dry into Tuesday,

0:01:15 > 0:01:18temperatures in the countryside into lower single figures.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20But, as I said, we are starting to see the temperatures rise.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23That is because the Atlantic air will start to have an

0:01:23 > 0:01:24influence as we go through Tuesday.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27It's a slow process, most will have a fine day on Tuesday,

0:01:27 > 0:01:30again some good sunny spells. Clouds amount increasing through.

0:01:30 > 0:01:31sunshine turning hazy in the west

0:01:31 > 0:01:34and we finish the afternoon with wetter weather west of Scotland

0:01:34 > 0:01:37and certainly through Northern Ireland for a time.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40But temperatures at where they should be this time of year.

0:01:40 > 0:01:43They will be getting close to 20 degrees in the south-east corner.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45Then, from midweek onwards,

0:01:45 > 0:01:48we open the door to a much stronger Atlantic jetstream.

0:01:48 > 0:01:50Warmer air the south, colder air to the north.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53We are generally on the warmer side of that jetstream.

0:01:53 > 0:01:54That means low-pressure systems,

0:01:54 > 0:01:57which will be queueing up from midweek onwards.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00One such system pushing to the north through Tuesday night

0:02:00 > 0:02:03into Wednesday bringing all a spell of rain. A few heavy bursts.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06The weather fronts clear away leaving a mixture of sunshine and

0:02:06 > 0:02:09frequent heavy and thundery showers, especially for England and Wales.

0:02:09 > 0:02:13Temperatures in the mid- to high teens in the sunnier spells.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16But turning breezier by this stage and windier still into Thursday.

0:02:16 > 0:02:17Another system passing through.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19The actual rainfall amounts not giving us

0:02:19 > 0:02:21too much concern at the moment.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23We could see winds touch gale force across the south.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25Probably the wettest weather throughout Thursday

0:02:25 > 0:02:28will be across parts of central and northern Scotland.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30Further south, a spell of rain at some point through the day,

0:02:30 > 0:02:32brighter weather either side.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34Just one or two showers.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37Temperatures still around where they should be for the time of year.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40Onto Friday, that low-pressure system hanging across the north

0:02:40 > 0:02:41means elsewhere we will she wettest weather.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44Blustery with occasional showers, some of those showery

0:02:44 > 0:02:47heavy the further south for England and Wales.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49But still those south-westerly winds. You will notice though,

0:02:49 > 0:02:52it's turning chillier across the far north of Scotland by this stage.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54Getting almost onto the wrong side of the jetstream.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57And as low pressure starts to pull away eastwards throughout

0:02:57 > 0:02:59the weekend, it gradually takes the wetter weather with it

0:02:59 > 0:03:03but it does open the door to a slightly cooler flow of air.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05That's really through the weekend. Much of this week,

0:03:05 > 0:03:08the big story will be the night compared to the weekend we've got.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10At the moment, not quite as chilly,

0:03:10 > 0:03:13a little bit warmer by day across eastern areas too,

0:03:13 > 0:03:17but be ready for something a bit windier and wetter at times.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19That rain will be punctuated by something drier and brighter.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22And it does look like, as we go into the following week,

0:03:22 > 0:03:24drier and brighter weather will dominate.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26High pressure starting to building from the south-west.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29We'll keep you updated on what that means for you over the coming days.

0:03:29 > 0:03:30Bye for now.

0:03:31 > 0:03:33They might tell me one of my twins has died.

0:03:33 > 0:03:35They are not going to say that baby.

0:03:35 > 0:03:37I don't know how he's going to come out of there.

0:03:37 > 0:03:38I just can't see it happening.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41You should've thought of that before you agreed to it going in!

0:03:41 > 0:03:43OK, then. Let's see what we can see.

0:03:43 > 0:03:45Right, push, Shelly, push!

0:03:45 > 0:03:46Push, Shelly, push!
