7:48:58 > 7:49:01Hello there. For cricket fans out there it's been an all too familiar

7:49:01 > 7:49:04and rather frustrating start to England's first test.

7:49:04 > 7:49:07This was the story at Headingley on Saturday -

7:49:07 > 7:49:10rain stopped play through the middle part of the day.

7:49:10 > 7:49:13It does look as though there's a risk of some showers for Sunday

7:49:13 > 7:49:14but not as widespread,

7:49:14 > 7:49:18and hopefully not as prolonged as Saturday.

7:49:18 > 7:49:19A weather front moving away,

7:49:19 > 7:49:21showers start to develop out to the west.

7:49:21 > 7:49:24But the day will start off quite promising.

7:49:24 > 7:49:27A rather, dull, drab, dank start in the south-east corner

7:49:27 > 7:49:30but elsewhere, some sunshine. A chilly start in rural parts

7:49:30 > 7:49:33and then as we go through the day temperatures start to rise

7:49:33 > 7:49:36and showers become more widespread into the afternoon.

7:49:36 > 7:49:38Some of these a little more slow-moving though,

7:49:38 > 7:49:40with lighter winds across the country.

7:49:40 > 7:49:42Now, if you dodge the showers, you keep the sunshine -

7:49:42 > 7:49:45it will feel pleasant enough, temperatures generally at

7:49:45 > 7:49:48around 12 to 18 degrees. So we can't rule out the risk of a shower

7:49:48 > 7:49:52at Headingley, particularly through the middle part of the day.

7:49:52 > 7:49:56Now, as we move out of Sunday. Most of the showers will start to

7:49:56 > 7:50:00ease away through the night. And things will quieten down.

7:50:00 > 7:50:03We could see a little bit of patchy mist and fog forming,

7:50:03 > 7:50:06bit more of a breeze on exposed coasts and temperatures

7:50:06 > 7:50:09in rural areas will fall down to lower values,

7:50:09 > 7:50:12so here a little on the chilly side to start Monday morning.

7:50:12 > 7:50:15But we start off Monday morning again on a

7:50:15 > 7:50:16relatively dry, bright note.

7:50:16 > 7:50:20There will be a stiffening northerly breeze down through North Sea

7:50:20 > 7:50:21coasts and a few showers here.

7:50:21 > 7:50:24And through the middle of the day we're likely to see perhaps

7:50:24 > 7:50:27a more organised line of showers through the spine of the country,

7:50:27 > 7:50:31highest values of 12 to 17 degrees. As we move out of Monday

7:50:31 > 7:50:34into Tuesday, it certainly looks as though high pressure

7:50:34 > 7:50:38is trying to calm things down a little, and it will do so.

7:50:38 > 7:50:41But it's going to allow this north-easterly flow for a time,

7:50:41 > 7:50:45making it feel just that little bit cooler than of late.

7:50:45 > 7:50:49So, a disappointing feel out there, despite a good deal of dry weather.

7:50:49 > 7:50:52The coolest feel is probably likely to be on the North Sea coasts.

7:50:52 > 7:50:55Away from that strengthening wind in a little more brightness

7:50:55 > 7:50:58further west, perhaps we'll see the best of the drier, sunnier weather

7:50:58 > 7:51:01and temperatures will respond as well.

7:51:01 > 7:51:03So, by the middle of Tuesday afternoon, we're likely

7:51:03 > 7:51:06to see highest values of around 14 or 15 degrees -

7:51:06 > 7:51:09disappointing, really, for late May,

7:51:09 > 7:51:11but cooler still on North Sea coasts,

7:51:11 > 7:51:14with temperatures sitting at around 11.

7:51:14 > 7:51:17That area of low pressure will start to move in from the North Sea.

7:51:17 > 7:51:19There's a level of uncertainty as to timings of this,

7:51:19 > 7:51:22but it is going to drift its way steadily westwards

7:51:22 > 7:51:26and it will bring some rain with it, moving its way from east to west.

7:51:26 > 7:51:29A cooler feel, generally, on Wednesday under the cloud and rain.

7:51:29 > 7:51:33Ten or 12 degrees - 16 the highest values. And perhaps then dry

7:51:33 > 7:51:37in the south-east corner. That low continues to move out of the way.

7:51:37 > 7:51:39Another front will push up from the south -

7:51:39 > 7:51:42that's going to bring some showery outbreaks of rain,

7:51:42 > 7:51:45but behind it, it will start to drag in slightly milder air for

7:51:45 > 7:51:48the southern half of the country. We still keep a subdued feel

7:51:48 > 7:51:50with the winds coming in off the sea out to the east.

7:51:50 > 7:51:55And that easterly flow continues, really, late on into next week,

7:51:55 > 7:51:57and towards the bank holiday weekend. But low pressure

7:51:57 > 7:52:00starts to influence the story into the south-west

7:52:00 > 7:52:03and that's potentially going to drag in much warmer

7:52:03 > 7:52:05air down to the south.

7:52:05 > 7:52:08But once that interacts with that area of low pressure,

7:52:08 > 7:52:10it doesn't mean warm, settled sunny weather.

7:52:10 > 7:52:14In actual fact, it could bring some torrential thundery downpours

7:52:14 > 7:52:17to the southern half of the country. Further north,

7:52:17 > 7:52:20a cooler feel, but here it could stay drier and brighter.

7:52:20 > 7:52:23Yes, it's bank holiday weekend, yes, we will firm up on the details

7:52:23 > 7:52:25as and when we get them.
