0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. Sunday was a day of sunny spells and scattered showers.

0:00:06 > 0:00:08Eastern England had a beautiful day.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11Look at this Weather Watcher's photo of the Humber -

0:00:11 > 0:00:14just a little bit of fair-weather cumulus cloud, highs of 19 Celsius.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17Different story, though, out to Devon,

0:00:17 > 0:00:19with threatening-looking skies

0:00:19 > 0:00:22and some pretty intense showers from time to time.

0:00:22 > 0:00:23Now, it looks as though we keep

0:00:23 > 0:00:27the sunny spells and scattered showers theme through Monday

0:00:27 > 0:00:29but most of the showers fairly organised

0:00:29 > 0:00:32in a line through the spine of the country during the day

0:00:32 > 0:00:34so there will be, perhaps, fewer showers around

0:00:34 > 0:00:37and a little more in the way of sunshine to look forward to.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40Not too bad into the afternoon across Northern Ireland

0:00:40 > 0:00:43and for the bulk of Scotland. Showers, yes, through the Grampians

0:00:43 > 0:00:47and into eastern Scotland, but highs of around 17 degrees in the sun.

0:00:47 > 0:00:48Some of the showers across the Pennines,

0:00:48 > 0:00:50down into the Peak District,

0:00:50 > 0:00:53heavy, slow-moving, maybe the odd rumble of thunder.

0:00:53 > 0:00:56But for Wales and the south-west there'll be fewer showers around.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59It'll feel quite pleasant in the sunshine,

0:00:59 > 0:01:01temperatures maybe into the mid to high teens.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04A cluster of showers across the south here,

0:01:04 > 0:01:07but in sheltered Eastern areas a little drier and brighter.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09Already, though, the breeze starting to come in

0:01:09 > 0:01:10across the chilly North Sea.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13The showers will start to fade away through the night.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15It stays quite quiet, but it also

0:01:15 > 0:01:17stays noticeably chilly through the night.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20In rural parts we'll see low single figures

0:01:20 > 0:01:22to greet us on Tuesday morning.

0:01:22 > 0:01:23So with high pressure in the driving seat

0:01:23 > 0:01:25centred to the northern half of the country,

0:01:25 > 0:01:29Tuesday looks likely to be perhaps the driest day of the week,

0:01:29 > 0:01:32but the winds circulating around that high,

0:01:32 > 0:01:35coming in off that coolish North Sea, always running the risk

0:01:35 > 0:01:38of driving a little more cloud along the east coast.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40An odd isolated shower here and there,

0:01:40 > 0:01:43but sheltered western areas seeing the best of the sunshine and warmth.

0:01:43 > 0:01:44Again, mid to high teens,

0:01:44 > 0:01:48along the east coast, 9 to 12 degrees at the very best.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51Moving out of Tuesday into Wednesday,

0:01:51 > 0:01:55we need to keep an eye on this low pressure drifting out of Scandinavia

0:01:55 > 0:01:56across the North Sea.

0:01:56 > 0:01:59There is a level of uncertainty to the timing of this low at the moment

0:01:59 > 0:02:03but it looks likely to come onshore during the middle part of Wednesday

0:02:03 > 0:02:05bringing some wet and windy weather,

0:02:05 > 0:02:07and underneath that cloud, wind and rain,

0:02:07 > 0:02:09it's going to be a pretty dismal day.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12Perhaps, again, to the west, the best.

0:02:12 > 0:02:1410 to 12, then, in the cloud and the rain,

0:02:14 > 0:02:17but even so temperatures are looking more disappointing elsewhere -

0:02:17 > 0:02:1913 to 15 degrees the high.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21We see that low drifting away,

0:02:21 > 0:02:24but drawing your attention down to the south-west,

0:02:24 > 0:02:28with another low just nudging toward the south-western half of the UK.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31And that's going to interact with weather fronts as well,

0:02:31 > 0:02:34dragging in this warmer, more humid air.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37So as we get towards the end of the week there is potential

0:02:37 > 0:02:38for the temperatures to recover,

0:02:38 > 0:02:42but there's also the potential for some pretty sharp thundery downpours

0:02:42 > 0:02:44to develop on Friday.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46Highs of 20 degrees not out of the question,

0:02:46 > 0:02:4868 Fahrenheit.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50The best of the drier weather likely to be further north.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53So for the remainder of this week, then,

0:02:53 > 0:02:56dry for most of us at the beginning despite a few isolated showers,

0:02:56 > 0:02:58some rain through the middle of the week,

0:02:58 > 0:03:02then there's the potential for some thundery showers later on.

0:03:02 > 0:03:07Now as we move into next weekend, and yes, the Bank Holiday weekend,

0:03:07 > 0:03:09yes, this looks likely to be the scenario,

0:03:09 > 0:03:12with low pressure still sitting out towards the south-west,

0:03:12 > 0:03:15still dragging in this warmer, humid air.

0:03:15 > 0:03:19So the start of the Bank Holiday weekend looks likely to be thundery

0:03:19 > 0:03:21from time to time, but still quite warm.

0:03:21 > 0:03:25A little bit cooler, drier and sunnier across the far north,

0:03:25 > 0:03:29but there are indications as we move into the second half of the weekend

0:03:29 > 0:03:32that even the thunderstorms should start to ease.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35A lot to play for by then - we will keep you updated.

0:03:37 > 0:03:39Nothing lasts forever, does it?

0:03:39 > 0:03:40My mum's dying.

0:03:40 > 0:03:42It's actually happening.
