0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello. A bank holiday weekend is on the horizon, so typically,

0:00:05 > 0:00:07the weather becomes more complicated,

0:00:07 > 0:00:09more difficult to predict.

0:00:09 > 0:00:12We'll get there in a moment but we start the week with high pressure

0:00:12 > 0:00:15close to our shores, just sitting to the north of Scotland.

0:00:15 > 0:00:19Some people may argue that it is in the wrong place, particularly

0:00:19 > 0:00:21if you live down the east coast of Scotland and England,

0:00:21 > 0:00:24because the breeze is coming in off a chilly North Sea.

0:00:24 > 0:00:27Now, Tuesday should start dry and sunny for most areas.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30Temperatures rise quickly and the cloud bubbles up

0:00:30 > 0:00:32but for the most part, it is fair-weather cloud this time,

0:00:32 > 0:00:35so there'll be few, if any showers.

0:00:35 > 0:00:37So a drier day for Eastern and Central Scotland,

0:00:37 > 0:00:40fine in the sunshine, cool in the breeze.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42If there is a shower in Scotland, it's a risk in the south-west,

0:00:42 > 0:00:45possibly Northern Ireland if you are unlucky.

0:00:45 > 0:00:48A lot of showers on Monday, from the Pennines to the south-east.

0:00:48 > 0:00:49Here, Tuesday should be dry.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52There will be some sunny spells and away from the coast,

0:00:52 > 0:00:55it will be some quite warm - temperatures, 18, 19 degrees.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58Isolated showers popping up across Wales and the south-west

0:00:58 > 0:01:00but very hit and miss.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03And any that do form will fade away on Tuesday evening.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05But then there are signs of change

0:01:05 > 0:01:08because there is a lot of cloud at this stage lurking

0:01:08 > 0:01:11in the North Sea and that will be spilling its way towards the UK.

0:01:11 > 0:01:15So with more cloud around overnight it won't be as chilly

0:01:15 > 0:01:17in the countryside in particular.

0:01:17 > 0:01:21Still got high pressure close to the UK as we head into midweek.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23But there is a weather system over the near continent,

0:01:23 > 0:01:26a vortex spinning our way and it's that that is likely to bring

0:01:26 > 0:01:29much more cloud around on Wednesday.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32And maybe bring a little light rain or drizzle across eastern England,

0:01:32 > 0:01:34maybe into the Midlands.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37A lot of doubt about the area of rain that's coming in.

0:01:37 > 0:01:38But for the most part,

0:01:38 > 0:01:41it will be a cooler day on Wednesday because of more cloud.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44There will be sunshine at times in the south-west.

0:01:44 > 0:01:48Maybe Northern Ireland and across Scotland as well.

0:01:48 > 0:01:50Thursday, the outbreaks of rain or drizzle

0:01:50 > 0:01:54should be in this sort of position, leaving us with a three-way split.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57Some sunshine developing across Scotland and across the south

0:01:57 > 0:01:59where it's going to be a little bit warmer as well.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02Although there could be showers. And after cooling down with the cloud,

0:02:02 > 0:02:05it starts to warm up again towards the end of the week.

0:02:05 > 0:02:08Dry weather, fine weather with some sunshine in the north,

0:02:08 > 0:02:11however across the southern half of the UK, we are more likely

0:02:11 > 0:02:14to get some showers and they could be heavy and thundery.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16Not many isobars on the chart by the end of the week.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18Very light winds, very slack airflow.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20Higher pressure to the north keeping it dry.

0:02:20 > 0:02:24A weather front marking the boundary between the more subsided air

0:02:24 > 0:02:26across northern parts of the UK and the showery air

0:02:26 > 0:02:29which is going to pop up on Friday, heavy showers likely.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32You see the warmth, though, 21 in London,

0:02:32 > 0:02:3515 and 16 through the central belt of Scotland.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38That's Friday, then. Saturday, similar sort of vein.

0:02:38 > 0:02:42Sunny spells for most places but those showers popping off

0:02:42 > 0:02:46across England and Wales and again, they could be on the heavy side.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48So, as we head into the holiday weekend,

0:02:48 > 0:02:52we have a north-south split with some showers

0:02:52 > 0:02:56developing across the south, heavy and possibly thundery, but warm.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59And to the north, we will find sunny spells

0:02:59 > 0:03:01and largely dry weather as well.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04Looking further head, high pressure in this area,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06lower pressure to the south, and if it is sitting here,

0:03:06 > 0:03:11it allows us to draw up some air from the near continent,

0:03:11 > 0:03:13that is a warmer direction.

0:03:13 > 0:03:17But another scenario is, with high pressure still across the north,

0:03:17 > 0:03:19the lower pressure is a little further towards

0:03:19 > 0:03:20the south-east of the UK

0:03:20 > 0:03:22so that brings air from a different direction.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24It's very difficult to get the details right

0:03:24 > 0:03:27when the weather is so slow moving.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29That's enough excuses from me. See you again.

0:03:31 > 0:03:32WIND WHISTLES

0:03:32 > 0:03:34'I've had a most rare vision.'
