0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. We'll take a look at the weather for the holiday weekend

0:00:06 > 0:00:10in a moment, but there is a theme running through the next 10 days.

0:00:10 > 0:00:11It's the theme that we have now -

0:00:11 > 0:00:14higher pressure to the north of the UK,

0:00:14 > 0:00:16lower pressure to the south.

0:00:16 > 0:00:19Now, in between, we've got this weather front,

0:00:19 > 0:00:23which continues to bring some low cloud and rain

0:00:23 > 0:00:25across southern Scotland,

0:00:25 > 0:00:27Northern Ireland and northern England.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29To the south, the sun is returning

0:00:29 > 0:00:31and drifting up into Wales,

0:00:31 > 0:00:34across the Midlands and into East Anglia.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37There'll be sunshine for northern Scotland.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39Out of that easterly wind, it'll feel warm.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41But a cooler day for Glasgow,

0:00:41 > 0:00:44the threat of rain through the Central Belt,

0:00:44 > 0:00:45cooler for Northern Ireland

0:00:45 > 0:00:47and northern England,

0:00:47 > 0:00:49again with a lot of cloud

0:00:49 > 0:00:51and rain at times.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53Further south, the sunshine makes a welcome return,

0:00:53 > 0:00:55eventually through Wales,

0:00:55 > 0:00:56the Midlands, East Anglia,

0:00:56 > 0:00:58particularly across southern England,

0:00:58 > 0:00:59and it'll be much warmer,

0:00:59 > 0:01:01but that could trigger a few showers,

0:01:01 > 0:01:04mainly around the Thames Valley.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06Those showers will fade in the evening,

0:01:06 > 0:01:09but we could get showers from the near Continent

0:01:09 > 0:01:10clipping the south-east,

0:01:10 > 0:01:13the far south-west by Friday morning.

0:01:13 > 0:01:16We've still got this line of cloud and rain

0:01:16 > 0:01:18through central Scotland,

0:01:18 > 0:01:21the same weather front as Thursday.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23So, these areas a bit dull and damp

0:01:23 > 0:01:26and cloud affecting eastern Scotland and England

0:01:26 > 0:01:28Elsewhere, there'll be some sunshine,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30but that will trigger showers,

0:01:30 > 0:01:31mainly for Wales,

0:01:31 > 0:01:33the south-west and the West Midlands.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35They could be heavy and thundery

0:01:35 > 0:01:36but it will be warm,

0:01:36 > 0:01:39temperatures 20 or 21 degrees at best.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41Now, as we head into the weekend,

0:01:41 > 0:01:44again, there will be some sunshine for most of us.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47It will feel warm but there'll be some showers too,

0:01:47 > 0:01:51some heavy ones in the south and east, and then later in the weekend,

0:01:51 > 0:01:54we'll see a cooler breeze picking up to.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57Very little wind, though, on Saturday,

0:01:57 > 0:01:59some slow-moving showers

0:01:59 > 0:02:01developing more widely across England

0:02:01 > 0:02:04and Wales, not just towards the south-west this time.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06Further north, generally dry,

0:02:06 > 0:02:07an improvement in the weather through

0:02:07 > 0:02:10central and southern Scotland,

0:02:10 > 0:02:11some sunshine on the way.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13Not many isobars on the chart for Sunday,

0:02:13 > 0:02:15the winds quite light for the most part,

0:02:15 > 0:02:16but pressure is lowering

0:02:16 > 0:02:18towards the south and south-east,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20so the showers may focus more

0:02:20 > 0:02:22towards the south-east of England.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24As far north as Yorkshire,

0:02:24 > 0:02:26there could be some torrential downpours.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28Further west, drier weather, some sunshine,

0:02:28 > 0:02:31the odd shower for Scotland

0:02:31 > 0:02:32and Northern Ireland.

0:02:32 > 0:02:35There could be one or two showers on Monday.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37Temperatures, 18 to 20 degrees,

0:02:37 > 0:02:40and with a bit of luck, most places will be dry.

0:02:40 > 0:02:44There is heavy, thundery rain not far away

0:02:44 > 0:02:48in the near Continent, and by Monday, into early next week,

0:02:48 > 0:02:51we've got a battle taking place between the high pressure

0:02:51 > 0:02:54that's hanging on grimly in the north-west, keeping it dry,

0:02:54 > 0:02:57and lower pressure that's coming in from the near Continent.

0:02:57 > 0:03:01As we head into next week, it looks likely that the high pressure

0:03:01 > 0:03:03will get shunted away a little bit,

0:03:03 > 0:03:05and pressure will fall,

0:03:05 > 0:03:07some models indicating that

0:03:07 > 0:03:08an area of low pressure

0:03:08 > 0:03:10will drift all the way

0:03:10 > 0:03:11the across the UK,

0:03:11 > 0:03:13and that will bring

0:03:13 > 0:03:14a significant change in the weather.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17So, we could see outbreaks of rain developing in many areas,

0:03:17 > 0:03:21together with some stronger winds around that area of low pressure.

0:03:21 > 0:03:24As everything is coming in from the east, or the south-east,

0:03:24 > 0:03:27it should stay drier for longer in the west.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30The next update is later, Thursday.

0:03:33 > 0:03:37Once upon a time, there was a great and glorious king.

0:03:37 > 0:03:40All who surround him will smile.

0:03:42 > 0:03:45But they would all see him destroyed.
